Tam - Thats great about your scan! Had a peek at your website, it's very well written.....as opposed to my slapdash one LOL!
Tiff - I am being sent for that BT at 10 weeks!!! I read what you wrote here, and decided to ring up the pathology place and they told me that it does work with twins. Whats the go? I don't want to go for a BT which might be useless for me, and I don't want "risky" results if it is not accurate.
Hey Jo,
My RE said that it is inaccurate and also very hard to determine with twins. It's like the old triple test, impossible with twins on board because the results are all out of whack.
I suggest you talk to your doctor, it could be different in different states(?) although I doubt it.
Tiff - I actually rang up the Genetic Health Services Victoria, who do the test and they assurred me that they can do it with twins. It is all very confusing. To tell the truth I would have preferred not to know anyting about it and just did the NT scan at 12 weeks. It was all I had done with Jack, this is just something else that I will worry about now I know about it grrrrrr!
I didn't do the BT aws according to the info I got, the database for twins is not large enough to get a proper picture yet. I only did the NT scan and it was all fine!!!
Well, had my NT today and the babies are doing very well. One is measuring three days ahead of the other but they assure me that is okay. Went and saw the good doctor and he is happy but I have a long list of things to do before I see him again. My midwives are off to NZ for two weeks now, so I am left to my own devices (gulp) until mid August. These babies and I will be scan queens! Our next scan is booked for Sept 14th (morphology) and then a week after that the babies will be having their first echo cardiograms. Already, I can't wait to see them again! Next scan we get to find out the sex!! My bets are on for one of each, any other takers?
ROFLMAO!! Such conflicting advice, I'm glad I can see the funny side of all this!
I spoke to the head pathology manager at genetic health services vic today and he said the opposite! I told him how confused I was about it all with all these different opinions!
As ever, all those in the medical profession can never agree on things, no wonder they get themselves into so much strife with the media!
So, I have decided to go ahead with the test, but not take a blind bit of notice of the BT only the NT reading at the scan. Tomorrow I will ring up my local u/s and check that they will calculate the risk factor for me (apparently some don't) if they don't, then I will travel into the Freemasons and have it done there, where I know they do it!
Oo er very interesting Sal - have to say I am getting girl vibes from myself too so will be very interesting to see if we're right! How about you are you thinking pink or blue?
Anyone heard from Cailin or Gaby? Just wondering how they're getting on - haven't seen them round these parts lately!
Not sure about Gab girls, but Cailin's MIL is staying for a few days so she can't be online too much. I actually spoke to her yesterday & all is good but she cant' remember being as tired last time.
BTW Sal my thoughts are that Cai is having a boy! Other than that I think I might agree with you
Sal,
I hope your vibes are wrong, wrong wrong!!!! For me. I don't know if I could cope with two more children with spouts! One yes, two, I dunno!
I think you are right about your boy vibes though, although, they say after an extended usage of clomid, it is more common to have a girl!!!
