Lise, your pregnancy massage sounds wonderful. I didn't know about boy's genitals being larger after birth; that is very funny. How is your new Mac going now? I've never had one before but I have heard that they are pretty user-friendly? They are very cute computers I booked in today for 12.5 weeks for the nuchal scan. I was told as I am carrying twins there is no point doing the combined bloods as they wouldn't know which one might have higher levels - or something like that. I am only worried due to my age, being a dinosaur at 37! And therefore higher risk of Down syndrome etc.

Londonmiss, thanks for the good advice re listeria, antenatal classes, yoga classes etc. I am glad that your little girl turned xx.

Chrissy and Glenny, I'd love to do pregnancy yoga but I would have to check with my FS first, given being on home bed rest till week 12. Definitely think if we're all going to NWPH then we should try to get into the same antenatal classes. Sounds like fun. Chrissy, how cool that your birthday coincides with your week 12. Thanks for still wearing those horseshoe earrings. That combined with me wearing my horseshoe necklace must be helping! The power of positive thoughts, hey? But I'm not buying anything baby related till a lot further down the track. I can't bring myself to yet. Re booking into hospital, I got a booklet from Kris which said to book from week 12 to week 15, and I'm sure it also said to book into antenatal classes at the same time - but I'm not sure when they start, ie what week in the PG.

Chrissy, I've not put on any weight either - in fact, I've lost one kilo, which worries me because the twin/triplet/multiples books I've been reading say how much extra weight you should be gaining. I am eating all the time, though, and making sure to eat all the right things. Plus, it's not like I'm active; I only sit or lie around. I will have to talk to my FS the next time I see him (next Tuesday) to see if he is concerned.

Renee, sorry to hear that you are still suffering from MS, but a few good tips have been given to you so hopefully those tips will help you.

Sorry, wantbaby2, I havent' heard about a growth scan, but itsounds like common sense that if you were a small baby, and you are very petite, then the baby is going to be small too.

Leabie, I think your ticker is really cool. It took me about 2 hours to figure out how to do mine, and I can't make the thing smaller because if I do the site I use drops out relevant stuff from it. I don't think anyone will be offended. Good to hear your levels are what they are supposed to be. My old FS (now my current FS; long story) used to be like that, too, and just say that the tests were fine, yet when I changed FS (the one who got me preganant with twins and has now nicked off to Greece for a holiday!) is completely different and tells you all the levels. If you want, just be proactive and ask for it. It's your PG and your body.

Better sign off as my eyeballs are falling out of their head - literally. Have a good weekend, ladies!

    Hi All,

LondonMiss, thanks for all the info you've been posting -- very useful (and I'm finding your humour very amusing, too). And thanks to everyone else for posting such useful tips about everything from scan dates to the size of baby's genitals!

Also thanks to everyone else for piping in with their favorite books. I ended up borrowing a book called The Pregnancy Bible from the library last week, and finally finished it last night. I thought it had some pretty useful information, along with some informative, if not downright eyepopping, pictures & charts (including some graphic pix of childbirth and sex positions for pregnant ladies - lol, that made me wonder how they found willing models). I was able to download the American version of WTEWYE from Amazon to my Kindle for $9 (USD), so I figured I might as well buy it despite how controversial it is. (I'd like to see the Aussie edition, too, since I'm giving birth down here, but haven't had a chance to search for it yet.) I haven't read all that much of What to Expect yet but my initial thoughts are that the current (4th) edition seems to be a bit of an improvement with regards to some of the stuff that was causing criticism in past editions. I think the author's tried to tone down the fear-mongering, for example. I do find the tone a bit annoying, but for $9, I'm not really going to complain about having another source of information.

AFM, happily the results of my BT on Thursday were good - HCG rose from 260 last Thurs to 4200 this Thursday, and progesterone was at 240, which the nurse said was great. So that calms my mind a bit that things are progressing as they should. It's so hard to tell in the early days, isn't it, and I think I'm a little paranoid after seeing so many IVF stats where live birth rates are quite a bit lower than the initial pregnancy rates. It really drives home that getting pregnant is only half the battle! I think what I appreciate about being in this Pregnancy after LTTTC thread is that you all understand how tenuous pregnancy can seem to to us LTTTCers, while in some of the "regular" pregnancy threads, girls are already talking about buying baby clothes the week they find out that they are pregnant. Not that I resent that -- I wish I could be that carefree -- but I find, and I'm guessing that some of you are or were probably the same, that I won't really believe that this pregnancy is legitimate or a permanent condition until I get more confirmation that it's not going to be taken away from me.

Anyway, I have my first scan on Weds, so that will be the big test, I suppose. I'll be exactly 6 weeks along that day. I'm a bit ambivalent about going in so early; I could have booked it at 7 weeks, and certainly would see more then. But I am anxious to talk to my FS since I have chronic high blood pressure, and want to get his input as to who would be skilled at dealing with that before I book an obstetrician. In light of my health issue, I feel like I need to get my future medical care sorted out ASAP, although I am frustrated that this means I probably won't see all that much at my scan.

Well, better run, as I have to be at acupuncture in 10 minutes. (Luckily it's only around the block from me.)

    Have a great weekend!

Lise - I've finally finished the damn blanket!!! (sorry this will mean v little to anyone else!!) I stitched the backing on last night, it's the back of DH's shirt from the wedding - it was extorniately expensive and he managed to rip it right down the front where even a good mend would be visible, so I used it for the back. Now back to the Beatrix Potter emboidery that I thought I'd have finished by now rather than only done one Mrs Tiggywinkle foot!!

Yay for you LondonMiss I think it would be lovely to have something your mum made for you while pregnant with you - i'm sure little miss will love it The Chicklet will have things made for it by its grandmother and great grandmother, but not me...!!

Renee - do you know I haven't been to the movies all year? How dreadful is that?! As for the Mac, I do like it but still getting used to some things. I haven't really used word much yet but I know that DH is struggling a bit. I need to find a list of shortcuts or something for him, mmmm, perhaps that should be today's job.

Wantbaby - glad you're feeling a bit better, and at least you know you're doing everything you possibly can. I'm sure your little girl is just little - not long to go now till the scan xx

Paula - hope you have fun at your baby shower! I'm not having one but am going to one on Sunday also - trying to think of a fabulous present to buy...

Brunette - excellent news that all the internal blood is gone and that the twins are both growing nicely. From everything i've read with twins and posts from previous ladies on this thread, you'll always have one twin bigger than the other but the main thing is as long as they're both growing! Have you made plans for your escape tomorrow?!

AFM - well I can tell i'm getting close to the end as i'm getting tired of being pregnant. My toilet trips during the night have increased and i'm having more and more trouble getting comfortable to sleep at night. Plus the Chicklet is obviously pushing on some nerves - when i'm out and about walking around I suddenly get these weird tingly sensations down in my pubic area, and I can tell you they're very strange and it doesn't matter what I do I can't stop them. Of course it doesn't help that they always happen out in public so there's actually very little I can do about it anyway...!!! But at my OB appointment this week she didn't mention or write anything about the Chicklet being engaged, only that he's a 'good size isn't he?' and she can see why i'm so uncomfortable! So I guess it's not going to be happening any time soon. I'm really going to have to work on my attitude considering i'm not even 36 weeks yet!

Have a lovely day ladies xx

    The blues and worry

Hi Renee, I might have to wait a while to see what I will like in the movie the Back Up Plan Did you like it? How is your MS going now?

Lise, tomorrow is basically mum wheeling me around like a total madman to the chemist, Medibank Private, lunch and maybe somewhere to buy my first pair of work maternity pants? I don't know; I am so superstitious about buying anything yet just in case something goes wrong ... I think I am starting to suffer depression from being home alone. I just start crying because I feel I have no control over any of this, and I am a total control freak. I know it's not good for the bubs so I try to remain calm. But it hasn't exactly been a great start to the PG with bleeding and bed rest till week 12. Then I don't know what's going to happen with the neucal scan due to my age etc. Then I worry about bubs being born way too early and having to go into NICU or Special Care. I am trying to be positive and picture two healthy happy little bubs in funky little baby clothes. I am also trying to let go and realise that I am not in control, but every time I say this to myself I just start crying.

Sorry about lack of persies today. I am just really struggling and already far too attached to these precious little ones.

Lise~ I have had those awful nerve pinching feelings.Yesterday it was like a sharp pain right up inside my 'area'. I had it a while back and was told its the baby dancing on your cervix..LOL.
I remember being really frustrated when having Connor towards the end.Not sure when it started though.I have been getting hardly any sleep since my leg and hip pain which started at 15 weeks. Its becoming unbearable but theres nothing i can do.I have sooooo many folded doonas, pillows etc im kind of like that story of the princess and the pea.No matter what i do i still wake up at about 4am.I get up once or twice to wee between 12-3.Its so much fun!!! (sarcasm noted)
Paula~ Hoping you have a great baby shower! I always wanted one but since finding out bubs sex,we bought everything and i hate to admiit but i am VERY particular.Im so fussy my aunt and mum said they dont dare to go shopping without me.Even certain shades of pink are a no-no.Only light, soft pink.No bright colours allowed. No ribbons, sequins etc. Only knitted embroidered, dainty clothing will be bought by myself.
I guess i have had 6 yrs to decide on exactly what i want so i guess thats my excuse from sounding so fussy All i need to get now is some white baskets for the change table to put the lotions, bath stuff in, a shabby chic girly lamp, white rug, nappy wrapper and bath.
Renee~ Gee i havnt been to the movies in ages! I want to see Sex and the city and prince of persia (just for the perve )

Afm i am REALLY emotional lately and clumsy too! I have burnt dinner twice, ruined a $100 doll kit that i have just spent 2 weeks on and just thrown in the bin in a flood of tears, dropped a glass and while
washing up,broken a bowl.I just dont know what im doing.DH started yelling at me lastnight for crying over dinner which upset me even more but he is away for work for 2 weeks next week and for tonight so i will have break from his impatience.I might go shopping tonight with my mum and get take away.At least i cant stuff that up.
Has anyone else been moody or emotional in the 3rd trimester? Or am i just going crazy?

Alicia I too wonder what Tiana was smiling about in the pics? Would be interesting to get an insight into what they are thinking about in there.. LOL.. I too have bought EVERYTHING i need. I have been asked by just about everyone who i invited what do i need or want and i cant tell them. They start naming things and i always respond with a "Got it". They have all told me i am very difficult!! Haha. I cant help that i have wanted this baby for so long and so couldnt help going out and buying everything i want/need As for being clumsy, welcome to my world. All i do is drop things lately and am also ever so forgetful! Great idea on the take away tonight. Enjoy!!
Renee i have been tossing up about whether to see that movie or not as i am not a big fan of J Lo as an actress but have heard great reviews. Will definitely be watching S&C 2 though!!
LondonMiss sounds like your very good with your hands. I still struggle to with a button
lise i can just imagine how you must be feeling. I have days like that already and im still shy of 29 weeks. I have often felt sore around my pubic bone/cervix area when i walk around the shops for too long too. Mmm i wonder if it is bub dancing on my cervix.. LOL
Brunette its totally normal to be anxious and worried. Unfortunately the worrying doesnt end. We will be worried about these lil munchkins for the rest of our lives. I truly believe though that it has lots to do with all we went through TTC. Try and stay as positive and calm as you can, but at the same time dont beat yourself up about feeling down, totally normal.

Have been feeling lots of hiccups lately, pretty much everyday. Is that normal?

    Hi lovely ladies!

Goodness, so much has happened since I last posted, I fear I've fallen behind again. Apologies if I miss anyone, but here goes...

Brunette - big hugs to you sweetie you sound stressed out of your head you poor thing. Being a worrier myself, all I can say is try not to fret about things that haven't happened yet and most probably WON'T happen, its energy that you don't need to waste. Just take it one day at a time, and keep visualising your little ones growing big and strong (which they are - they've doubled in size in a short time!). Take deep, big breaths when you feel yourself starting to worry, and try and distract yourself til it passes. If your mantra about not being in control is upsetting you - then make up a new one! And you are not too attached to the little ones, I think its the perfect amount of attachment. Hang in there. And don't forget to strap yourself in for your wild wheelchair ride tomorrow!

Wantbaby - sorry that you're not having a great time at the moment. I can't help you with the 3rd trimester emotional / clumsy stuff, but I wanted to say try not to be so hard on yourself! Its just stuff. The most important things are you, DH and the bub. Glad that you're feeling a bit more relaxed about bub's size - one good thing about dainty babies is that they're easier to get out! (hopefully!). I'm thinking of my SIL at the moment, who pushed out a 4.5kg giganta-baby... ouch...

Lise - Sounds like you're getting pretty uncomfortable hope the chicklet wriggles around a bit for you and gets off any nerves they're pressing! I spent last night at a friend's house who is just about 36 weeks, she's really over it too - can't breathe properly, getting reflux from everything (including water). She's going to book in for reflexology in a week or so, to try and get it out quicker!

LondonMiss - was excited to hear about your craftiness! How did you make the blanket? I'm currently crocheting one for a friend's 3yo that I look after, haven't thought about anything for the bub yet, too early and I don't wanna jinx myself!

Renee - hope you're getting over your cold sweetie, and the MS is keeping away

KitKat - how did your scan go yesterday? Hope everything was great!

Paula - your 4D scan sounded wonderful, what a special experience to have. Have a great time at your baby shower on the weekend, hope the weather clears up a bit for you.

CK77, Miss K, glenny C and anyone I've missed - hope you're all doing well!

AFM - well, I had my 7 week scan today, and everything was perfect! I was so relieved, I burst into tears, and continued to cry right through the consultation, and back out to reception to pay the bill! How embarrassing! The poor receptionist thought that something was wrong with the baby, the FS had to explain that wasn't the case, while all in the waiting room were staring at me

The yolk sac and heartbeat were nice and clear on the screen, and the little one was measuring 8.2mm. Don't know if this is a good size or not, but FS was happy. DH has nicknamed it the chickpea - I was pleased that he's named it, as he doesn't really speak about it much. Hopefully having seen it, he'll be less hesitant about talking about it!

Better finish this mammoth post! Sorry for rabbiting on. Take care everyone.

    Hi Ladies,

Sorry I've been MIA the last few days. Have been keeping up with the posts but haven't really had the time to write one myself. Anyway, here goes:

Juniper, a big congratulations to you! I saw your Beta # and your levels are looking great. Well done!

Brunette, I'm happy to hear you've made it out of the house again. I can totally understand how frustrating it must be for you to be so helpless right now and dependent on others. After we moved to Oz, there was a point when DH went back to work and I hadn't started looking for a job yet, so I was just home without anything really to do. I wasn't even stuck on bed rest like you but found it really depressing being by myself all day without a real purpose besides trying to keep the house clean and cook dinner every night. So I can only imagine how much worse it must be for you when you're forbidden from even doing things for yourself! Just remember it's all for the best cause of all, sweetie, and soon enough you're going to be busier than you can imagine with two little babies to look after!

Leabie, congrats on your scan. Hooray that all was looking well!

Lise, the new ticker is really cute.

Hi to everyone else . . . I think I'm too far behind to comment on some of the stuff that took place days ago now.

AFM, I had my first scan on Wednesday at exactly 6 weeks. I'm happy to report that it went great. We were able to see the flickering of what is the beginning of the little speck's heart beating away. There really wasn't all that much to see, but my FS said that the shape and size of the amniotic sac looked really good, as well as the size of the little being starting to take shape inside. He said that sometimes the sacs are smallish and oddly shaped, but that mine was big and really symmetrical, and that he thought that boded well for a good healthy baby down the track. Yay! He even gave me a pic to take to DH since DH wasn't able to come to the appointment. Of course, DH, who is actually quite interested in what is happening, took a look and said that he couldn't really see anything. Oh well. The FS also gave me some info about the different OBs that are available at John Flynn, which is where I want to give birth, and I'm happy that I was able to book in with the OB that I wanted although he won't see me until I'm around 13 weeks. Next up for me is another scan with the FS at 8 weeks. FX that things continue progressing well!

Hope some of you have fun plans for the weekend. AFM, I have to read about 150 pages of extremely dry and boring material for work, so that's what I'll be doing the rest of the day. Fun, fun, fun.

Right hello all, hope you are all well! Juniper - how lovely to see you in here. What fabulous news! This really must be the best month ever, Australia's suddenly had a population boom! They should put this news on Channel Ten, its more interesting than some of the boring sport they keep babbling on about

Kitkat- congratulations on the scan, yes symetrical sounds good! Hope all goes well with the little codger! Brunnette - glad to hear your mum didn't kill you with her wheelchair driving!! Getting out the house must be so good for your well being. Hope it was fun and next week's trip doesn't seem too far away.

Smithy - oh my goodness, is Charlie really 18 weeks old now??? That is amazing, time has flown soooo quickly. I hope all is going well? Tell us about a day in her life.. I want to look forward to these things!!

Wantbaby2 - ha ha I thought the same thing about Lise's rugs when I read that.. bit worried I have serial killer tendencies

How you feeling now Lise? All of a sudden everythings just got another 'degree' of hardness, e.g. walking, sleeping, moving, etc. Worst job of all, putting tights on (but lovely when they are on) or picking stuff up off the floor. DH is away for a week from Tues, and I need to make sure he gets down a range of oven dishes before he goes and a load of loo roll off the top of the bathroom unit before he goes!

Everyone else, hello, sorry if I've missed you, I'm all scrolled out!

AFM. As above really, just getting tired. But not 'over it' like the books say so many people feel. I've REALLY loved having my friend here all week, although I think I must have been a v boring person to visit, but I've done too much really and am looking forward to a week of just pootling about the house. She left at 1pm and I've slept for nearly 3 hours! I hope you are all well and have had a good weekend. x
