LondonMiss, thanks for all the info you've been posting -- very useful (and I'm finding your humour very amusing, too). And thanks to everyone else for posting such useful tips about everything from scan dates to the size of baby's genitals!
Also thanks to everyone else for piping in with their favorite books. I ended up borrowing a book called The Pregnancy Bible from the library last week, and finally finished it last night. I thought it had some pretty useful information, along with some informative, if not downright eyepopping, pictures & charts (including some graphic pix of childbirth and sex positions for pregnant ladies - lol, that made me wonder how they found willing models). I was able to download the American version of WTEWYE from Amazon to my Kindle for $9 (USD), so I figured I might as well buy it despite how controversial it is. (I'd like to see the Aussie edition, too, since I'm giving birth down here, but haven't had a chance to search for it yet.) I haven't read all that much of What to Expect yet but my initial thoughts are that the current (4th) edition seems to be a bit of an improvement with regards to some of the stuff that was causing criticism in past editions. I think the author's tried to tone down the fear-mongering, for example. I do find the tone a bit annoying, but for $9, I'm not really going to complain about having another source of information.
AFM, happily the results of my BT on Thursday were good - HCG rose from 260 last Thurs to 4200 this Thursday, and progesterone was at 240, which the nurse said was great. So that calms my mind a bit that things are progressing as they should. It's so hard to tell in the early days, isn't it, and I think I'm a little paranoid after seeing so many IVF stats where live birth rates are quite a bit lower than the initial pregnancy rates. It really drives home that getting pregnant is only half the battle! I think what I appreciate about being in this Pregnancy after LTTTC thread is that you all understand how tenuous pregnancy can seem to to us LTTTCers, while in some of the "regular" pregnancy threads, girls are already talking about buying baby clothes the week they find out that they are pregnant. Not that I resent that -- I wish I could be that carefree -- but I find, and I'm guessing that some of you are or were probably the same, that I won't really believe that this pregnancy is legitimate or a permanent condition until I get more confirmation that it's not going to be taken away from me.
Anyway, I have my first scan on Weds, so that will be the big test, I suppose. I'll be exactly 6 weeks along that day. I'm a bit ambivalent about going in so early; I could have booked it at 7 weeks, and certainly would see more then. But I am anxious to talk to my FS since I have chronic high blood pressure, and want to get his input as to who would be skilled at dealing with that before I book an obstetrician. In light of my health issue, I feel like I need to get my future medical care sorted out ASAP, although I am frustrated that this means I probably won't see all that much at my scan.
Well, better run, as I have to be at acupuncture in 10 minutes. (Luckily it's only around the block from me.)
