LM - I get them too, I find using some Lansinoh to moisturise them helps. Often when I see they are itchy they are a little flakey too, meaning they are very dry....
hello - just popping on to say that I have itchy nipples.... there's no one else I can say this to without looking like a complete bloody wierdo... Lise, others - help... do you have them too or is it just me? Its most disconcerting, it's not like you can scratch them on the tram. Not without being arrested anyway....!!!
LM - I get them too, I find using some Lansinoh to moisturise them helps. Often when I see they are itchy they are a little flakey too, meaning they are very dry....
thanks - I will go and moisterise immediately! Do you mind me asking do you have any leaking yet? I'm a bit worried that I don't and my (normally quite big) boobs haven't grown at all...
Okay, in backwards order first:
Londonmiss, no not had itchy nipples. God you crack me up with your posts, though; love the burying your DH under the patio for use as fertiliser!
Ninah, the drug weaning is very scary but the best part is going from 4 pess now down to only 2 per dayNot long for you to go now, and how cute that you keep looking back at your bub's car seat!
Mum2be, congratulations! I am so happy for you. Are you on cloud nine, shocked, or has it sunk in already? Great levels. Twins? Join me in this twin journey I'm on
Lise, you're a naughty girl! With all the tips you've now got, even though DH is not going to play ball, seems like you don't need him ... I just had a call from the sonographer's office to confirm appt tomorrow and quizzed her as to why another lady with twins had both blood + scan, and all she said was they couldn't do it there and it must have been done elsewhere (which it was; Melbourne). Sucks. So all they can go on is age (not in my favour) and the twins' measurements! I'm trying not to worry but praying at the same time!
Wantbaby, I would want to murder my DH if he did that. Definitely sending you thisYou need it!
Hi and belly rubs to everyone else.
LondonMiss - I second the Lansinoh, I use it every second or third day. Mind you I haven't had itchy nipples really so not sure if it helps for that but it does keep them from getting dry and flakey which I imagine could contribute to the itchiness. As for the leaking - it only happened to me a couple of weeks ago (you may recall my freaked out post!!) but always ever only in/after a bath or shower. As for the 'non growing' boobs - i'm like you, i'm normally quite big and I haven't really noticed a significant increase at all so maybe those of us who are a little bigger don't have the noticeable increase? I'm guessing after the birth when the milk comes in is a different story though - will let you know
Mum-2-be - congrats and welcome! So nice to see more faces, well names at least...!
Ninah - I know what you mean about the capsule in the back, it's such a surreal feeling isn't it?
Brunette - I guess scans and tests are different everywhere. Will be keeping my fingers crossed for you - the one good thing about no bloods I guess is that you should get your results a lot faster. A word of advice though - DON'T GOOGLE YOUR MEASUREMENTS!!! Just wait for your results to come through. I googled mine and thought they were fine but then the OB thought they were high so had to wait anyway so no point worrying yourself if you don't have to xx
Just back from acupuncture - waiting, waiting, waiting...
Lise, I thought I would find out on the spot - like at the end of the testing. So, I have to wait for results to be posted? Jesus! Another question: this Lansinoh you guys are talking about; does Amolin do the same thing, or are they completely different?
Brunette - I know with my test they told me the measurement straight away, but i'm assuming even without the blood test they still have to combine it with your age to get a combined risk factor??? I don't know how it works without a blood test, or with twins sorry. Could be wrong though so definitely ask them!! And I'm guessing that Amolin is the same thing really, is it lanolin? I don't know if this is true only of Lansinoh or not but I know it doesn't have to be removed before breastfeeding and apparently it's the only one that doesn't, which makes it a bit more convenient. Could be a marketing ploy though?!
Brunette, are you having the bloods done the same day? I was sent to give my blood samples last week and my scan isn't until the 1st. I'm assuming I'll get the results the same day as the bloods will all be back etc. He wanted the bloods (and a urine test?) done in week 10 and has booked my scan in week 13. Confused now.
MissK if you are so set on that name, then stick to it! Or is it someone close?
CK77 hope you are keeping warm in Tasmania!
LondonMiss totally hear you on the pathetic politics. Since when is Fetility Treatment optional?! C'mon its not like we are too posh to do it the normal way and therefore do it through IVF!! Stupid people!
Maggie big hugs. Hope you find a solution soon.
Miss Ama welcome. Totally understand you about it not feeling real yet especially after all that we have been through.
Renee YAY on buying the cot. Great bargain too! Probably a good idea to take it out of the box though to make sure all is ok or else if you wait a few months might sound silly complaining about it so long after the purchase.
lise 25 groups? Wow. And i thought our group was big. Hope someone happens for you real soon. You look great in your pic! All belly.
Brunette my classes are through the hospital but i still pay $320. I called my health fund and because i just have general extras and not the top extras package im not entitled to anything. As for the blood test, i was initially pregnant with twins and was told to do the combined test. I too had the bloods taken a week before the scan.
wantbaby#2 men!! They can be so insensitive! Hope this time away gives him time to reflect on whats important and hopefully put some thought into your bday present.
mum 2 be welcome and congratulations on you BFP!!
Ninah must be so surreal to see the capsule in the backseat. Definitely get your bag organised. You just never know!!
Had a productive weekend. Got most of the nursery done. Just need to buy some more bits and pieces to dress it up a bit more. Been feeling lots more movement down low and also lots of hiccups down there so hopefully she is getting into position. Have GTT tomorrow. Keeping everything crossed that all is ok!!
Just a quick one for Glenny: Sorry to confuse. It is different if you are having twins. For twins, apparently some places either can/do/have the technology to do bloods + scan + age to get your combined risk for Downs. The clinic called to confirm my appt today and I asked them again about this lady with twins who had the combined test and they said they don't do it there and something about still not knowing which twin the BT would apply to (although this lady had risk for Twin A and Twin B!) But if you're having a single baby, then you definitely can get BT + scan + age. So maybe that's why you go in earlier for your BT and the nuchal scan is a little later. I have heard even though you can have the nuchal scan from 11 to 13 weeks that it's more accurate to have it closer to 13 weeks. So, sounds like you are getting good advice. GL for your scan!
Hehe you're unmistakable lovely! It iis a surer thing by the day, scary too! Loved your nursery, just loved it, I can't wait till we get there too! It feels like you're light years ahead for now!
Thank you for the very warm welcome everyone, it truly astounded me how much warmth in this thread, so different from other online nooks.
To answer someone who kindly asked, we are not sure when, it's all about waiting times for the visa and then saving like mad, so I presume reasonably not till sometime next year so for now we're researching suburbs of major cities like mad and we are falling in love with what we're seeing, property wise at least, you guys have it brilliantly as compared to us here!
Our Little Human Being is alright, gave us a Doppler scare last night but redeemed himself with a lot of clarity this morning. Oddly he only shows up to play on an empty bladder after I ate something...
Forgive me for not doing proper personals yet, I'm hoping to progress to that soon!
Hope everyone is having a lovely week so far!
So i've got a new tactic for brining this labour forward - i'm going to plan something exciting for every day until he's due in the hope that murphy's law will prevail and he will come when I don't want him to as I have something on! Mind you, it seems that all the activities i'm thinking of involve spending money and now that i'm on half-pay I really should be a bit more careful.
Today's outing was a pedi, quite nice though she massaged my legs a little too vigorously and they're a little sore. Still, at least I didn't have to bend over to try to do my feet myselfOh, and I bought some books i've been meaning to read for ages with the aim of reading at least two decent books during my mat leave rather than the mindless trash i've been wasting time on. I do so hope I get my book brain back again once the chicklet is here, I love reading and was most disappointed to realise my poor pregnancy brain just couldn't seem to cope with anything highbrow or usually found in the 'literary' section. I've been reduced to reading terribly trashy chick lit books found on sale in Big W. And yes I admit i'm a bit of a snob when it comes to books so I embarrass myself - I give these books away as fast as I read them
MissAma - do you have your own doppler? I'm not sure if that would have reassured me or made me more paranoid, though I'm not sure if it was possible to get even MORE paranoid...!
Apologies for the all about me post - hope you're all cooking along nicely. Not long to go before we should have a whole swag of babies around, so very exciting![]()
Okay, no persies today as I got the results of my nuchal scan back. Seems pretty good considering they couldn't add the bloods in with it. First off, I was blown away by the detail of the scan. Technology really is amazing, isn't it? I got a DVD; couldn't help myself! The twins are bascially on top of each other. The sonographer thinks they're fraternal and on the report it has dichorionic, diamnoitic, which apparently can still be identical but more likely fraternal. They both have their own sacs and a really strong looking membrane, which sonographer says usually strongly indicative of fraternal twins. The placenta looks like it has joined. I hope I'm getting this right; blaming PG brain. NT measurement for twin 1 was 2.10mm and for twin 2, 2.30mm. As I say, couldn't combine bloods so just went with scan and age. Age alone risk was 1:190 but for twin 1 adjusted risk is 1:605 and for twin 2, 1:421. The doctor who gave me the summary report at the end said further testing would be riskier (esp with twins) than the result I had, and seemed quite happy with the result. So is my DH. Yet to talk to my FS about it but all in all it's looking pretty good. So hard to believe after such a scary start that now I might have to worry about being a mother - the 20-week scan, day care, schools .... I know; I'm a worry wort!
Brunette, so glad your scan went well and you got a good look at your twins!! And I think your numbers look good, with my age, good bloods and a measurement of 2.7 (which is on the 'higher end of normal' apparently) my combined risk factor was about 1:550 which is higher than most I know but everone was happy with that and nobody ever suggested further testing so you should be okay![]()
CK77 - Tassie sounds soo soo cold!!! AND LOL at your junk food addiction I was the opposite at the beggining and only felt like healthy things but now OMG I am obsessed with eating desert after dinner and eating starburts jelly fruits *drools* .. Atleast bubba is growing wellI WANNA PEDI soo jealous of you right now *cries*
LondonMiss - I envy you! I can't eat any spicy foods as it gives me the worst reflux for 2 daysI am giggling at your snoring and shuffling DH is complaining about my constant rolling from side to side to get comfy and taking all the blankets little does he know when I get bigger I am going to move around more hahaha!
Maggie - I hope you feel better soon! I was lucky enough not to have MS though I have been hit with worse things... A friend of mine has it bad at the moment and she has found eating gingernut biscuits and ginger beer to help with the sick feeling![]()
Miss Ama - Welcome WelcomeWhere are you coming from?
Renee - Wahoo for getting the cot half price!!! Its good to start getting prepared now I think rather than having a lump sum near the end!
lise - Do not tell anyone your name no matter how much you trust them lol!! Acupuncture sounds soo niceAnd don't worry about your previous posts we all get to have a vent! And coming close to the end its surely going to be very uncomfortable! OH OH OH PEDIS AND MASSAGES I AM JEALOUS
Brunette -Make sure you do book into the hospital!! I booked with my OB at 4weeks cause otherwise we would have not gotten him!! And yep back to the drawing board for boys names we don't know what we're having yet but its nice to have a rough idea on what the bubs name will be! AND WAHOO for the NT scan it all sounds well you should be very happy with those results!!! The DVD is really good isn't it!! I watch it over and over to remind myself that somethings baking in there!!!
Wantbaby#2 - GAH @ your DH males can be soo silly sometimes can't they!!! And your poor DS with a chest infection I hope he is feeling better today, and that you have had a little rest up and feeling a bit better!!

Ninah - Aww thats soo cute about your capsule I wanna put mine in now dammit!!! And wahoo for decals I haven't put any up yet! Has your countdown started? I am still soo angry about the name but I just can't bring myself to call the baby that now it doesn't mean what it meant anymore IYKWIM?
Paula - Hope everything goes well with your GTT, I am scared to have this done lol!!! And YAY I love nursery stuff! We're going back to the drawing board she's def not a close friend now but is in my circle of friends so really not going to have the name anymore
AFM - All is well on this end, planning a 4d scan at the ultrasound place down the road for when my grandparents come up in a couple of weeks and have the whole family there so looking forward to that! Still disappointed about our boys name but I'm trying to con DH into this name I am IN LOVE WITH ... Though we don't know if its a boy or girl I like to plan ahead!!!
Hello to anyone I have missed I really hope I haven't missed anyone but big kisses and belly rubs to you all mwah!
Hi everyone ~ Thanks for the welcome!!
I have a quick questions - I'm 6 wks on Saturday and haven't been sleeping all that well for the last week and a half - I wake up in the middle of the night and find it difficult to get back to sleep. I haven't had sleeping problems before. Has anyone else had sleeping issues this early or should I look for another answer (like diet or something). I do take Elevit, so I thought that should be all the vitimins/minerals I would need ...
Then yesterday, I couldn't keep working I was soooo tired (because of lack of sleep) so I left work and went home to sleep!! Hoping this is normal!!
Thanks in advance for your comments!!
mum2be, I've been waking up during the night, but my cat has been the cause. But, even when I get a good night's sleep I'm exhausted by about lunchtime and keep wishing I could take a nap at work.
