lise i was told to fast from 9pm the night before the test. Not sure why. Sorry to hear bub still hasnt engaged. Might be a silly question but what happens if a bub doesnt engage? Is there such a thing?
MissK i am loving the antenatal classes. Do you plan on doing them?
leabie 6-7kg?? That cant be right! The average they say is in the mid teens like 13-15 or something like that. Either way, dont be too fussed. As long as your eating healthy and doing the right thing dont stress too much. Well done on passing your GTT!!
Renee we have pink accessories but trying to keep it simple. The room probably is too simple but i guess you either do it this way or go overboard! Great news on your MS.
Juniper great news on your scan!
wantbaby#2 unfortunately i dont think the worrying will ever end. As many have said, and im sure you as a mum already can agree, once we have a bub there is always something to worry about. Hope your feeling better today and that DH comes up with something for you on Sunday.

Had our second antenatal class last night and we talked about breastfeeding, non medicated pain relief and then watched a caesarean birth. Was actually very detailed. A modern DVD made in Aus. Some of the men had to look away when it came to making the incision. I asked DH last night what he thought about it and as a typical male, all he got out of all we talked about and watched was "OMG they actually shave you down there?" He was amazed that they do they shaving for you. MEN!! Seriously!!!!!! We also did a tour of the maternity wing which was great and made it all seem so real. To think i will be there in 8 week or so time!! Cant wait!

    Laridoz - Congrats and welcome

Lise - hope its not too far away now!!

We just had our scan done and got to see our lil monkey!! 3D scans are amazing!! Everything is great there is a 1 in 17000 chance of downs. It was stubborna and wouldn't get into the right spot so i had to go for a walk and jump around a bit. It still only stayed in that spot for a few seconds, the lady had to be quick!! Also remind me never again to think that my MS has gone anywhere, i think it is here to stay somehow!

Lairdoz - welcome to the nut house Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy.

Juniper - yep, it's perfectly normal not to see your OB until 12 weeks. And after that even though they usually say they'll see you every 4 weeks don't be surprised if they suggest no visits until 20 weeks. From personal experience I would still request a visit at 16 weeks as for us paranoid LTTTCers it's a long time between visits from 12-20, and until the baby is moving around it can be hard to believe everything is still going okay. As for the referrals, no worries for your GP to refer you to your OB, they shouldn't need proof, and it doesn't matter who refers you to the NTS as long as you have one.

Renee - glad you had your scan and all is well! I've had to jump up and down a bit in my scans too, so you're not alone in having a stubborn little one

Thanks to everyone for their nice words, it does help to make me feel better though of course i'm still as impatient as ever. And I keep receiving emails from women in my mother's group who are having their babies early...

Thanks Ladies for your lovely welcome. I still feel like until I see the scan and prove there is a little one (or a couple of little ones!!) I should stay in the LTTC forums, but I will try and be brave and stay here!

Paula thanks for your words on it maybe not being twins. It's not ideal for us to have twins given I am not very big and we have a 14 month old (she'll be 22 months by then), but I feel like with such high numbers I have to prepare myself and DH and as the days pass I am slowly getting used to the idea. I am only just pregnant of course, but as we all know, time can go by so quickly (except when you are waiting for the baby to arrive of course Lise!)

Juniper - my FS had already sent the info to my doc when I went to get my referral, don't worry too much as they will just do an HCG at the doctors if they don't have what they need or can call the FS's office while you are there so they are covered. One thing you might consider if you are a bit of a stresser (as I think we all are after LTTC'ing) is getting a doppler. I bought one when I was pregnant with my DD, it cost me $100 online and I used it from about 12 weeks until the end as I had a lazy little bunny who didn't move that much. I checked with my OB that it wasn't doing any damage to the baby, and he said no it wouldn't. Just gave me peace of mind.

Looks like there are a few of you about to give birth - how exciting, although of course I am sure you wish it would all be over sooner rather than later!

Lairdoz - congratulations and great to see you in here! Lovely big numbers, way to go! Wishing you a lovely uneventful pregnancy

Lise - you poor thing, how frustrating that everyone's popping before you. Rest assured, that baby of yours WILL come out! Just hope its really soon for you hun.

Renee - great news about your scan, and what wonderful odds! Congratulations. Got my scan next week, don't think its 3D though, I'll ask my OB if I can squeeze one in at some stage... it sounds so wonderful.

Juniper - I only booked into my OB at 8 weeks coz my FS said to organise one, and then the OB said I may as well come in, as they had space for me. Must admit it was nice to see him early, but I felt a little silly going so early! Ah well. As for referrals, your GP shouldn't have any issues with it at all (I had to specifically request a repeat beta HCG from my GP as I was worried about my levels, she wouldn't have done it otherwise). Best to get an OB referral from your GP, as one from the FS will only last 3 months.

LondonMiss - hope glenny_c's theory is right! FX for you.

Paula - great news about your GTT! Hopefully I'll follow in your footsteps, being a fellow PCOS girl... not holding my breath though.

Mitf - congrats on maternity leave, not long now for you! Retail therapy sounds great - the house cleaning, not so much!

Hi to everyone I've missed! Hope you're all travelling along nicely.

AFM - one week til the nuchal translucency, counting down the days. that it will all be OK. We're gonna tell DH's brother and sister-in-law about the pg later this week - DH has flatly refused to tell anyone til after 12 weeks, so this is very exciting. We've lied to them both over the last few weeks, its getting harder to keep the secret! Especially as we've found out we're telling different lies... oops!

    Hello All,

lise- hang in there: if nothing else I think conception and pregnancy are meant to teach us patience (which we'll all need lots of as mothers)

MissK- I teach High School, mostly seniors. I'm dying to tell my students that I'm pregnant but am still worried that it's too early. They must think I've become a selfish little piggy as I'm always eating in class now.

Leabie- I feel for you. Unless someone has experienced MS, I son't think they should be allowed to comment on it.

Juniper76- Is your due date 1st Feb like me? I was originally told by the clinic that it would be the second but then FS said it was the first. How's your MS?

To all the other ladies- have a great weekend!

Paula - my OB said the baby may not engage until labour and that she's not worried at all that it hasn't engaged further at this stage. So I guess it has to happen in the end! Glad you're enjoying the classes

Maggie - i'm the world's most impatient person so although I know I should be enjoying this time and just relaxing i'm afraid it's a bit hard...!

Lise, I'm glad she's not worried. I'm guessing you'd rather get the show on the road though?

Paula, eek! I don't think I could watch that video! I have a history of vomitting when watching similar types of videos. I have this thing about blood...

Maggie, I'm due on the 2nd. The m/s seems to jump up a notch every Tuesday. I'm struggling to eat much of anything before dinner, but I've found cup a soups have been good this week. I seem to be okay with eating salty foods, but sugary foods make me sick. Good thing I was trying to avoid the sugar anyway. I'm craving risotto, so I may need to make some on the weekend. I just don't know if I can stand at the stove that long? Maybe I'll have to do one of those shortcut ones you can do in the rice cooker these days?

    Morning Ladies,

I have been out of touch with this tread during the last couple of months. There just has seemed to be enough hours in the day and I couldn't post at work..... but now that I have finished work and am on Mat leave..... wooho... I thought I should pop in and see how all you lovely ladies are going.

Firstly I would like to say a huge (albeit belated ) congratulations to Juniper!!! So lovely to see you finally make your way over to the pregnancy thread and I am glad to hear your scan went well yesterday. The 12 week scan is even more amazing so I hope the next month passes quickly for you. Also, congratulations to all the other new (or not so new) comers that I haven't met before.

Well I am 38 weeks today. Had a check up with the midwives yesterday and the baby has only just started to engage so she said I want be going anytime soon and will probably see me in 2 weeks for the 40 week check up.... not exactly what I wanted to hear but oh well we can only live and hope. I don't mind going up to my due date, I just don't want to be really late or anything. The closer I have gotten to the end the more I am dying to meet our baby and find out if it's a boy or a girl..... my money is on boy but we will have to wait and see. I guess I will just have to make the most of the next few weeks... a bit of retail therapy and some cleaning up at home should keep me entertained.

    Have a lovely weekend!

Hey Mitf - how lovely to hear from you. Glad to hear you are feeling well - and on maternity leave
I'm basking in the glow of a sunday morning when you know you cleared up before going to bed.... happy days. We had 11 people for dinner last night, this eating for two is getting really out of control ho ho ho ho.... no, seriously, our last entertaining before Little Miss comes along, so I feel like we've banked lots of favours in coming weeks/ months. And we cooked too much so our freezer will be well stocked up too!

Juniper - not sure if it's too late, but if you search on the Delia Smith (co.uk) website, she does a wonderful oven cooked risotto that is the simplest thing in the world to cook and no slaving at all.
Leabie - hope the MS is getting better
Paula - god, that's the same reaction mine had about shaving. Anyone would think I was sporting some sort of neanderthal bush normally ..honestly!
Lise - feeling for you. I have really got backache now, which I'm trying to seeing as one of the 7 signs of early labour rather than just another bloody pregnancy symptom bingo that I can check off. I'm only really comfortable in the bath... usually fantasising about a glass or four of shiraz.... Big belly rubs to everyone else, sorry can't flick back to the old thread very easily.

AFM nothing really to report. Kicking is very very strong but less regular. My lavender wheat bag is a lifesaver for my back. I'm now doubled to twice weekly yoga and weekly massage, and its helping me keep some sanity and frankly its not like I've got anything better to spend my money on. DH has decided to go on a health kick, its quite funny given that an archeologist would probably identify me as a pygmy hippo than any form of human at the moment. I'm looking forward to eating leftovers for the next hundred years... hope you are all well and hope you have lovely sundays x

    Hi ladies,

Still here - had a lovely morning at a friends house then went home quickly before acupuncture and found an email saying a woman in my mums to be group had her baby two weeks early (the second person in the group to go early, the first was 4 weeks early!!). Well nasty old me had a very bad reaction and was so cross and upset I just wanted to kick something and have a cry. This woman also went through IVF so you'd think i'd be a bit more compassionate, nope, not green eyed monster Lise. Luckily I had acupuncture so went and whinged to my acupuncturist who was very lovely and did a few things to help calm and relax me. I know it's not even my due date yet but i'm so over it emotionally, i'm really irritable, restless, cranky, lethargic and just plain awful really, I don't know how DH is putting up with me, poor thing. I want to do stuff but say no to everything he suggests. I got cross at him on Saturday for going to hockey and a boys night out, even though he didn't drink at all. I hate being at home by myself but can't be bothered socialising. Oh so contrary.

So apologies but i'm not going to do any persies - you'd probably rather I didn't share my crankiness with you all so until I have something nice to say I just won't say anything other than to say hope you're all doing better than me

mitf great to hear from you. Hope you dont go over as 40 weeks is long enough to wait. Enjoy your retail therapy over the next two weeks.
lise im sure we can all understand where you are coming from. As happy as you are for the other mother, its totally normal to feel the ITS NOT FAIR!! I can see myself in your shoes. I already hate socialising let alone when ill be a week or two from giving birth. Let it all out, be as cranky as you like. You're allowed to!! Fingers crossed things happen this week!! Sending you millions of labout vibes.
LondonMiss everyone has told me how wonderful of an idea it is to have meals in the freezer for those first few weeks but i cant see myself at home in the kitchen cooking hundreds of meals in one go. Hard enough to cook one decent thing these days. Lucky you!

Had my obs appointment this morning and my GTT results came back all good. Perfect sugar levels, blood count good, blood pressure good and the lil heartbeat was racing away nicely. To say i am happy happy happy is an understatement! Due to my PCOS i was sure i would have Gestational Diabetes but nope! Doc basically told me to keep doing what im doing as its all looking great.

    HI Ladies,
Looks like I will be able to join you - I just got my 2nd beta at 18 dpo which was 1800 (!!!). I am a tad scared it's twins (we only had one embryo put back this FET) but of course I won't know until we have the ultrasound. It will take me a while to get my head around all of this, but I look forward to sharing this experience with you

Lise, it's not long to go now! I know each day much seem endlessly long, but I promise it's still just 24 hours. And each day you're a little closer to meeting your chicklet. FX that this is the calm before the storm.

LondonMiss, FX that diarrhoea (looked it up!) is a good sign! Also, belated thanks for that lead on the risotto recipe. I haven't made one yet, so I'll check it out.

Quick question - does this sound normal to you? I won't be seeing my OB for the first time until 12w2d. When I booked, the receptionist told me to ask my FS or GP to give me the referral for the nuchal scan. Also, do you think I'll have a problem getting a referral to the OB from my GP? Is she going to want to confirm the pg herself first or do you think she'd have received something from the FS by now and that would be enough?

Congrats and welcome Lairdoz! Definitely sounds like a great number. Dont stress too much about it being twins. Lots of ladies have had high numbers in the past and its still just one super strong emby.
LondonMiss sounds like your body is truly gearing up for whats to come.
lise hang in there hun. It sure is sounding promising.
Juniper you dr should be able to give you a referral based on you telling them that you did IVF and it has been confirmed. As for the nuchal scan being referred by your GP or FS, i dont think it would make too much of a difference and they should be able to give you that also.

How is this awful Sydney weather?! I dont mind the cooler temps but i hate the rain although i know it is important. Hope everyone is travelling along nicely.
