    Trying for #2 with FET

    Hi,
I'm a bit new to this area. My husband and i have a toddler conceived through ICSI in 2008. We're looking at going back for #2 this year.

I met with my nurse coordinator today, who told me about the process for FET. It was all sounding great (no needles) until we got to the part where i have to use a progesterone pessary every 12 hours, and lie down for an hour to make sure its absorbed. Depending on the outcome, it could be for 10 weeks.

I'm just wondering how on earth i'm going to manage the 'lie down for an hour' bit with a toddler running around the house. the morning dose will be ok; i'll wake myself up early and just hope that dd doesn't wake up early, but the evening dose will be when i'm usually getting home from work, cooking dinner, getting DD bathed ect ect. (hubby doesn't get home from work until past 6 - he has a long commute).

I'm sure we'll manage, a positive result would be more then worth it, but I'm just wondering if anyone has any suggestions, tips or ticks that made it a bit easier for them?
    Thanks

Is the progesterone pessary one you can put up the rectum instead? I know some you can. Doesn't sound very nice but its less likely to come out so quickly it does absorb better that way also. I am sure one of the girls who have used it personally (I might be able to comment for sure later this year) can clarify this. And also it means you wouldn't have to lie down as long or lie down at all.

Shh...don't tell my FS but I often cheated and only did about 1/2 an hour (and I only had dogs to walk etc)!

Maybe you could turn it into some sort of game with your DD where it is your special time together reading books or similar. Or you could invest in some DVDs that she really likes and lay on the couch together.

    Thanks for replying

After having another day to think about it i'm not quite as concerned as i was initially; I think i'll just have to be super organised as far as dinner goes, and hope that my little girl cooperates. Hooray for In the Night Garden being on at 5.30!

    Cheers

Chooky, I was told 30 mins. And the nurse also said to do it rectally for the midday one if lying down was difficult (vaginally is better for absorption, but sitll ok).
Can you just do the last one of the day at bedtime, when you're lying down anyway?

Thanks for the advice marcellus. It was supposed to be 12 hours apart, so using a pessary at bedtime would have caused havoc mid morning.

Doesn't seem to matter now though; my husband seems to have changed his mind.

    Hi chooky and everyone,
Have come back on (after a long while away) as DH and I are going for #2 with our only frozen blasty...just waiting for AF to start so i can ring WFC to get the whole cycle underway. So desperately wanting for it to work but all the stat's seem to go against us given only the 1 blasty. Our DD is 2 yr 1 month and so ready to be a big sister and the thought that she mightn't ever have that experience is already heartbreaking (and i am trying to be positive!! lol)
I'm interested to hear how it all works, ours is going to be a natural FET cycle, with pessaries but i really have no idea of time frames and things, just want a safe thaw and BFP 2 weeks later...

Sorry to hear that Chooky. Do you think you might come back to it a bit later on?
