Long story short,
On day 29 I POAS & got a
On day 30 I POAS again & got a
Bloods were drawn on day 30, so Thursday and my HCG level came back at 5. My GP phoned me after hours and told me to return on Monday for a follow up blood test. I did so and went back for the results today. I knew straight away I was going to get bad news. The results came back at 19. They suspect it's a blighted ovum. I've got 2 weeks for my body to take care of itself, before I go back for more bloods and an ultrasound. A d&c would follow if needed.
Has anyone else ever experienced low & slow rising HCG levels, and then had the pregnancy continue safely & healthily? Or am I swimming in a sea of grief & denial
First of all big it's a worrying time and I'm sorry you are going through this
My experience with slow rising hcg levels did end in a mc when i was 8+6 but I was also bleeding which started before I had the hcg levels tested. When I went through my mc I scoured the Internet and there were so many positive stories after a slow start with hcg levels so there is always a chance everything will be fine and it is just early days. I will keep my fingers crossed for you
First just wanted to say congratulations! With regards to your numbers I wouldn't be thinking the worst just yet, in reality you are only 'just' pregnant. If you got a BFN on the Wednesday and a BFP on the Thursday with an HCG reading of 5 that, to me is just a starting number. HCG needs to double every 48 hours so you were asked to go back on Monday for another test, that means that on Saturday your HCG would have been at around 10 and then on Monday it would need to be around 20 to be doubling. Sounds to me that although the starting number is low they it is doubling at the required rate.
Advice on low & slow rising HCG levels please.
Sorry sent send on my phone.....
Anyway they seemed to be doubling ok, slightly slower than usual and my first scan showed blighted ovum with hcg 666 (omen number ).
Came back a week later and there was a heartbeat around 107 YAY.
I requested one more u/s to keep my mind from going into overdrive and had it at 9 weeks and no more heartbeat.
My hcg was still rising so I had to have a d & c which I was ok with because I had exams but it was a horrible roller coaster. Keeping all my fingers and toes crossed you get results like I did for my dd!!! It's so unknown what will happen but I honestly believe had I not stressed out so much things might have been different. I was literally having panic attacks because we had been trying so long.
Thanks girls, so very much for replying, and for sharing your own stories. It's very courageous to expose yourself personally like that. I do appreciate it
I feel like I can't breathe, my face is all swollen from crying & i'm living in a limbo of desperate hope & sheer fear
If I had to, I could probably pinpoint the 'day' we DTD and it was only a few days before (we've been very quiet this month in the bedroom)......I know this pregnancy is super early, and that my numbers have increased by 66% over the 24-48 hour period obviously if they went from 5 to 19.
My lower abdomen feels really heavy today, and my lower back slightly aches. Please don't be happening, it shouldn't happen, it's not right that it does.
At my clinic if it is under 100 at 14dpo it is seen as equivocal. I have had levels of 5 and 2 at that stage and they have been deemed chemical pregnancies. I scoured the Internet for good news stories at the time but they were very, very few and far between.
I am sorry you are going through this

I have no idea about ovulation though (natural cycle), so really DTD won't help my cause too much will it? I don't know at all.
My GP did say there was a 5-10% chance of everything being okay, but she seemed so un-optimistic
Just saw your sig N2L, fingers, toes, legs & eyes crossed for you. xx
Many women ovulate around day 14 (give or take a day or two) so you could be around 16 days past ovulation???
This is more likely if you have a standard 28-30 day cycle.
