Just popping in to wish you luck tomorrow at your scan WW. Everything will be lovely and I bet bub is super gorgeous. It feels like only yesterday I was going to my 12week scan but at the same time this pregnancy now feels like its taking for ever.
The fatigue is such a killer. I am not depressed but have had depression before and I feel depressed within my physical self. That feeling of no motivation and everything is a struggle. I have made the decision to attempt to defer my course I am doing. I think its for the best as its very stressful at the moment and if I force myself to keep going and do pass I think I will be terribly under prepared to work in that area. At least if I go back whilst on Maternity leave I will have a lot more time to concentrate on the course and be better prepared for working in that area. I have not even heard if it is possible. If not I will keep plodding away. I don't want to have wasted the first half of the course which I have already passed by thowing it away and not returning. I just know if I can defer until July next year it will be a massive weight of my shoulders.
I've always really loved been pregnant but am struggling so badly this time around. I feel so much older this time. Then I feel guilty that its my last time every experiencing this and I can't enjoy it more. I am so under prepared and when I think this bub could be arriving in 3 months (based on my history) I know I can't possibly get everything done I want to get done before she arrives.
Mildez, that would be a really rewarding job. Is forensic nursing really bad? What does it involve? I used to be a lawyer, but only just for a couple of years out of Uni.
AFM, I had my NT scan today, and all looked great! It was fantastic to see the little one waving and kicking. We do know the sex but we are not saying until later. You see so much detail on those scans, it is incredible. The baby is measuring 13+1 though we are only 12+5 by due dates.
WW thats fantastic your scan went well. It's such a relief when you see them wiggling about on the screen isn't it.
Doing well here, 34+4 weeks now and measuring 5 weeks ahead! I feel enormous and am just hanging to finish work in 7 working days. I have a growth scan in a week and a half and to be honest would be more than happy if bub came anytime after that. I just can't wait to meet him
Sorry for being MIA. I've been checking in on the thread on my phone, but honestly have not had the energy or stomach to get online and type. My morning sickness has been 24/7 for about six weeks (started to ease up last week, thank goodness), but the fatigue is really quite hard to manage this time around. I don't remember being this tired with DS. I wake with him at 5-5.30am, sleep when he does in the afternoon, then go to bed when he does at 7.30pm! I've been having headaches from the exhaustion, and possibly also from the underlying anxiety of pregnancy, I suppose. I've found the sickness and fatigue to be much more mentally draining this time around as well, it's hard to stay upbeat when feeling so horrendous.
WW - I'm so please your scan went well and your Harmony results were good. (We also did the NIPT, and had good results. We also found out the sex, but I can't keep it a secret at all. It's a girl! ) How are you feeling physically?
We also had our scan early this week, and bub was measuring a day ahead, so now I am 13w3days.
I'm having an early GTT next week, as I had GD with DS. Boo. Fingers crossed I pass, I'd rather not be restricted in my diet for the next six months!
Hope to be active here a lot more now that the sickness is easing up. Hopefully I'll have more energy as well in the next couple of weeks. x
Lee glad to hear the sickness has eased. How did you go with the GD test? Hope you can avoid it this time. I got my referral to have it done in the next month.
MummaT only like 11days until your term. How exciting. Did I read something about you having c/s? If so do you have a date yet?
WW great news about your scan. Are you getting any movements yet? I was a little further along when this one was obviously moving. How about you Lee any movements?
WW the role I will be doing when qualified will be through the sexual assault service. So doing forensic and medical examinations on assault victims and then the expert certificates for legal proceedings if the case was to go in that direction.
Lee congratulations on your pink news. How beautiful.
I saw my Ob yesterday. Apparently the baby is very low in my pelvis. Amazing her could even tell in my opinion and is head down. I wonder if it will mean this one will be an early bird too. PIL are going to drive me insane if it arrives before Christmas so hopefully it stays put until they go on their holiday (26-12) I will get 2 weeks break anyway. I will be 38+6 then. I have not been that far pregnant before so we will see. My last day at work will be the 18th December. Can't wait. I'm so tired now already.
Wow you are right Mildez I am term in about 10 or 11 days. Wow! that just seems surreal. At the start of the year I didn't think I was going to be lucky enough to get another sticky baby and here I am with a nearly fully baked one. Feeling pretty blessed about now. Your role sounds really interesting also very confronting.
Lee how did you go with the GTT?
WW - How are you travelling?
Lee, congratulations on your scan and test results and that you're having a little girl - that is great news! Sorry to hear you have been so sick but glad it is easing up.
Mildez, that role would be very full on. But that kind of job would need good people to do it, you know. So it would be pretty amazing thing to do. Gosh, that would be pretty full on if the baby came early. I mean, I guess you're used to it. My DD was a full 2 weeks late! I hope your little one hangs on for your inlaws trip. My inlaws drive me nuts as well, but so does my family.
MummaT, very exciting, not long now, so thrilled for you.
AFM I am sick with a cold and also just threw up my brekkie (morning sickness). I just feel shocking right now, physically. I am happy to be past the 12 week mark but I have some days of anxiety and thinking I should feel more pregnant. Like today. Even though I just vomited. I think I notice the womb and it can feel bigger or smaller each day and sometimes that gets to me. I certainly haven't felt any movement, but I can feel the womb swell up and go hard from time to time, which gives me confidence. I didn't feel anything til 18 weeks with my daughter but then I think if this baby is 8cm long how can I not feel it? That is massive! It feels like a long while til the next scan.
haha on bub being 8cm. That would be crown to rump length so might even be a little longer. I guess with all the amniotic fluid its pretty well cushioned in there still. I saw a mum who's bub was born a few days further along then what I am with severe IUGR and was 29cm long at birth so I guess mine would be a foot long atleast. Scary thought.
Hope the shocking feeling eases for you WW. Its horrible to feel so yucky. You can expect it for the first bit but hope its eased by the 2nd trimester.
MummaT I know what you mean about feeling pretty blessed. I really hoped for another bub after my last bub didn't want to put too much pressure on us to conceive again. I was unvbelieveably depressed and irrational ttc in the past when it just wasn't happening or it would and I would loss the pregnancy. I feel incredibly blessed also although have to admit with more age I am finding this pregnancy a struggle.
I am only just now getting over my cold, but going away for a short break with DH tomorrow. To somewhere where the weather isn't insane like here (Melbourne). Everyone getting sick because one minute it is really warm, the next minute freezing. Very happy to be nearly 16 weeks now. No real movements yet, but feeling bigger and things shifting around.
Glad to hear your doing well WW. I live in Melbourne, I hope you weren't after warm weather, it's been up and down recently.
I am doing well, 37+4 now and just hoping bub will come before the C section Friday next week but not holding my breath on that one. I have an awful cold too, hopefully it's gone before bub arrives
MummaT those last few weeks are hard aren't they? The end is so close now. How exciting to meet your new little man. Hopefully he comes a little sooner for you.
WW yeah on 16weeks (or almost) I had the odd movement around then but nothing concrete until much later. I don't think this bub is very active at all. Have you booked in your morphology scan? I know your not sharing the news but I can't remember if you did or did not find out what bub is at the harmony test.
How is everyone else going?
The story of my life is still this extreme fatigue. I've also gained a lot of weight. I am close to 30kgs up on what I like to be normally. Not worried about it but I will have my work cut out for me loosing it come next year. DH is struggling with the kids. I've been worried about how he will cope after bub is born. His great with babies and young children but is really struggling with the 2 older kids (14 and 8). We both are but I can ride the storm more then he can. Neither of us are sleeping between the youngest and our 8yr old who is having terrible nightmares and waking everynight screaming. Timing couldn't be worse really.
Its starting to hit me that in less then 3months I am going to never have another pregnancy. A bit sad really although this pregnancy has been difficult. Just starting to suffer from an irritable uterus. Having some really strong palpable braxtin hicks. I had this with number 3 from 15weeks so I've been very lucky to get to 27weeks this time with nothing so I can't complain. Although they got so bad last night I thought I would be going to labour ward. Settled overnight until I got out of bed and was hit by the most painful one yet I've had that dropped me to my knees.
MummaT, I think you've had your baby, I read somewhere. Congratulations!!!! I will try to find that thread.
Mildez, how are you going? How is the fatigue? The weight gain sounds exhausting. And the BH contractions. Jesus. They are very painful. I had them for about 4 weeks pre-birth and I always thought it was labour. How is your 8 year old going? I really hope your family is settling down a bit for you.
Lee, how are you going?
AFM I am really good now. I did vomit before, after and during the trip up north. Oh yes, I also live in Melbourne, MummaT, that's the problem. So the weather was lovely but the food was out. It was a bit different to be so sick this late, but it's stopped now. I am seeing OB tomorrow. I feel movement a bit each day. I feel pretty good.
Well baby Archer was born last Friday by cesarean and it was fantastic. They accommodated all my wishes and really went out of their way to make it special for me. Master A was out of special care and with me within 6 hours of leaving me and spent half of his time in special care up with me anyway. I am recovering well and we are settling into life as a family of 4. I am hoping to post my birth story shortly for you all to read.
I will be reading along as you all get to meet your bubba's
Thanks for asking WW. Big Milestone today. 30weeks. Exhaustion has not eased up. We are having temperatures to 40 at home so the heat is not helping. Thank God I am not due in February when the hottest time of the year usually is. I am going well just tired and exhausted. Only about 10weeks left. It feels so close now
Congratulations Mumma T. Sorry for delay in replying. How is your family going? How is your recovery? And Archer? What a gorgeous name.
Lee, how are you going? Any thoughts on baby girl names or is it a bit early? Have you had your 20-21 week scan? Mine is on Friday.
Mildez, how are you going? How is the weather going? 40 degrees sounds horrendous. We had a brief heat wave here in Melbourne on Friday and Saturday and our aircon was out of service, and I was also throwing up (still!) and I felt like sort of the end of the world for a few hours, but it was just a passing thing, and a really cool change came in thank god. Gosh, it is not too long now, is it? How are you feeling?
AFM, I am well. I did have another quick spew the other day, as mentioned. This is the most spewing I have done in my life. I am up for my scan on Friday. I wish I could eat a bit better, because I am very prone to thrush and whenever I get sick, I have to go back on the white carbs which fire it up. That, and eating 4 cupcakes at a kid's bday party and all the Halloween candy! I am having a lovely weekend to myself with my DH and DD away. It is glorious. I do get mega-irritated at my cat who just follows me like a bad smell whenever DD is asleep or out of the house. I have sad feelings about this, but I am so tired mostly and so tired of attending to someone else's needs that I feel really angry and agitated when I see my cat. I have thought a fair bit about "re-homing" her, if that could ever happen. I just don't have that extra energy for her. I know I have to create play/attention bits of time for her, but my heart is so not in it, and I am not a good faker. She shows no interest in anyone else in the family, which is so annoying bc my DD would LOVE to pet her and play with her as would my DH. These feelings of being overloaded unfairly and burdened have overridden my feelings of love towards her. Does this sound way intense to anyone??? I am worried about when the baby comes. I am afraid of our cat becoming even more neglected (which as I said is kind of "her fault" bc she won't take pats from anyone but me). Gosh, that just came out of nowhere.
Anyway, as for baby stuff, we are having a boy! We are telling everyone now and just thinking of names, even at this early stage. Can't seem to think of any I like.
Thanks WW. We are settling in nicely now. I have some awful sleep deprivation but DS2 had his first 5 hour block between feeds last night so I can see a light at the end of the tunnel now
Congratulations of expecting a boy!
Its hard with pets sometimes isn't it. We had 2 very high needs (grooming, attention etc) dogs and decided to rehome them while I was pregnant. DS1 used to torment the poor things, as a normal toddler does, and we just didn't have enough hours in the day to groom them and give them the attention they deserved. We decided to find them a new home together where they will live the life they deserve instead of keeping them just because we thought we should. It was a hard decision but they are now in a home with a 3rd dog the same breed and being spoilt rotten, much better than they would have had with us. I don't regret the decision for a second. Think about it for a while before you decide what to do as you don't want to regret your decision, but its also sometimes not a bad thing to give them a different life to their current one.
Hi MummaT, great news about the 5 hour block. Good sign!
Thanks also for replying to me about the pet issue. It really helps to hear your story. It sounds like a really good outcome for your dogs. I wish I was as clear about my cat's psychology. She is basically flighty, unpredictable, friendly one minute, unfriendly the next. So it is hard to know what makes her happy. I had a very easy cat prior to this, very laid back, my brothers would throw her around and I never felt even a claw emerge from her paw. Everyone loved her, and pointed out that she was exceptional for a cat, more like a dog. Anyway, now we're at the other end of the spectrum with a moody nervy demanding little ginger who never seems happy! Or I am projecting! Also highly likely.
Good luck to you and your brood. Fingers crossed for some quality zzzzzs.
