Hi all, haven't been posting for a bit, but have been reading, and stalking.
I would have been on sooner tonight but we didn't get home until 6pm as we had to go to the shops and get some things - I am definately not going to be shopping in Target anytime in the near future! I spent 10 minutes waiting to be served at the layby counter, 5 mins before closing and 5 mins after closing, and still didn't get served so I stormed off swearing my head off lol and then put in a complaint!
Anyway, hubby stole my computer when we got home as his laptop has a virus....
Anyway, had my morphology scan today, and we are having...
A GIRL!!!
At least the sonographer thinks it's a girl as there was no "dangly bits" as he put it lol
Was a very co-operative little bubba, did everything that she was supposed to and gave the sonographer good views of her heart, everything is measuring exactly on dates and she has really long legs - measuring a week ahead! - but she only has a small skull, measuring 2 wks behind but the sonographer said he could have been a bit out in his measurements as her skull is still a bit narrow in width and still needs to do some more growing.
So all in all it's been a good day - and next week I get to go shopping buy some cute little purple things!!! (I can't stand pink... I keep on telling people I only want purple clothes lol)
Tegam: I have a lot of red clothes, awesome colour!
Dory: I like the cat tips, DH and I are looking at a basinette that has a full cover over the top in case George gets too curious.
Wow, I can't remember much more. Ummm. Oh!
Forshelby: Pfft at DP for the comments about housework! Your doing more work lying down than he could do in a whole week of work, one of my friends told me she screamed at her DH ''I'm making baby eyelashes! Leave me alone!'' I thought that was pretty cool I too find myself in a 50's time warp. There's been a few times when DH has come home and I've just finished a batch of cookies and he'll be at the table with cookies and milk and I'll be thinking ''who the hell are we?'' LOL! So far I've felt no inclination to vacuum in heels.
Reet: Hmm, I'm in 2 minds about this, one - you do what you want honey two - sometimes, we get stuck in a headspace of anxiety that's not useful or helpul. As long as dopplering is useful/helpful tis all good, but if it becomes a source of stress in itself, then it's no good and maybe you could replace it with something else, like reading a book to your bubba.
Sunshine and stars: Oof, the politics! Hope it all goes well!
Audax: Getting close honey! Woop woop!
I really hope I didn't mix up who said what!
AFM, all going well, Tiger's still bouncy and happy and we have a midwife appt this afternoon. Got a stash of MCN's and clothes, but his room is full of boxes - not so great as a newborn but when he's a toddler he'll freaking love it Hoping to have everything finished by the end of November, we have furniture kindly donated from friends, just gotta pick it up! Birth classes start next monday and DH has promised to read the birth skills book. Still freaking out about birth. Deep breaths!
Reet - Men! Try to ignore his comments, and if he gets really stroppy, just tell him if it bothers him that much he knows where the cleaning products are, lol. I can understand how he would worry about what you're eating and drinking........ but seriously, it's your body. Perhaps remind him of that. Ask him if he could give up everything he enjoyed for 9 months (or longer including ttc). There's no need for him to freak out over a coffee or a sushi roll, honestly. You know what you're doing, and your baby is growing beautifully so tell him to cram a sushi roll in his noise-hole. LOL.
Angelfish - I always used to say DP got his man-period once a month. Thankfully it's less frequent now. Perhaps it's man-opause? You're in a tough situation with the kids...... especially if you two aren't on the same page about it all. Is there any kind of middle ground you could try to find?
Ferrals - Your DH sounds wonderful..... Excuse me while I print this out to show DP, lol.
Tegam - Hooray for another 2 weeks! And for baby being head down. What a well behaved bubby you've got in there!
Sunshine - I can understand the guilty feeling, but I think dory said it best. You're doing something way more important. Good luck with the mat. leave negotiations!
Dory - I love the idea of the travel cage in the nursery doorway.... DP thought it was brilliant too. Will definitely try that one out! I think I'll be getting one of those mesh things too just for added safety, and it guards against creepy crawlies, too. I felt really bad when DP criticized me about my lack of activity lately...... but I don't think he understands how draining pregnancy can be. I just get so tired and I'm starting to have back pain. It also doesn't help that I can't find a comfortable position to sleep in, or that I can't just stretch out on my back on the lounge. My hips are paying the price. Just wait till I get to 30weeks plus! Arrrgggg..... I might try reminding him that growing a baby is more important than the dishes... not sure how that will go down but I'll say it in my most sweet soft toned diplomatic voice hehe. Thanks for the great advice as always
Jenna - Don't you hate crap service?? Ughh. Congrats on having a little girl! Hooray for no dangly bits, lol. I've seen a lot of great purple outfits but since we aren't finding out the sex, I have to refrain. Get yourself some cute black singlets and put them on with little purple pants or something. HOW CUTE! I love that they have more than just pastels now. I saw an orange onesie, and a red one... plus a heap of other bright lovely colours. Enjoy your shopping spree!
Kit - LOL, so you could say your kitty is curious george? I'm looking for a bassinette like that too. I'm so glad I'm not alone here in this 50's timewarp, hehe. I find on DP's days off, I make him lunch and coffees and serve him like some kind of maid! It's crazy, I just can't control the urge to be all housewifey! When he's here, that is. hehe. I will tell DP I'm growing various baby bits and to leave me alone next time, how funny. Can't believe you've got your antenatal classes coming up... time flies! I'm still waiting for my DP to even go NEAR the bloody books I've asked him to read. Come to think of it, I'm getting rather annoyed about that.
AFM - I have a couple of things on my mind. Firstly, I can feel baby kicking from the outside. I told DP this, and he rubs my belly here and there, but doesn't seem the slightest bit interested in actually waiting to feel kicks. He's tired from work, blah blah the excuses annoy me. I'm starting to feel a little bit like he doesn't want to feel it... or doesn't have the patience to sit with his hand on my belly when he could keep his hands busy with his XBOX controller. *sigh* I swear that thing is going in the frigging garbage once bubs arrives. Also he hasn't read the books he's meant to, and just seems really clueless about the whole thing. How's he going to support me in labour if he doesn't know what to do? I can picture him 'motivating me' by getting cranky! "Don't cry, just push!!!!!!!!" There are times where it helps me for him to be hard on me, but this is not going to be one of those times! He's a bit of a 'fly by the seat of your pants' kind of guy. Only it's the seat of my pants I'm worried about, lol. Ah well, I guess I should get started typing out all the good parts of the books I wanted him to read as I promised, and highlighting the best bits. If he doesn't read it maybe I can shred it and mix it into his dinner. LOL
In other news, I've got my appointment to talk about which hospital I'm going to give birth in today, but I really don't know what to expect or what the heck is going on. I get the feeling it's going to be a very long, very boring appointment where I walk away with as little knowledge as I have now.
I have to go and move away from the dog now........... he's dropping bombs in his sleep. LOL
Forshelby - I soooo know how you feel about the labour support person not swotting up. I am not sure that my DH ever read a book, and he loves to read. I used to just start reading important bits out to him. He did watch a DVD with me though called Being Dad 1 and 2, and he did watch some of that show on SBS "One born every minute"...
When I went into labour with Amelia, I had very little clue and DH even less. The middie and obs really helped us both through. I honestly think that your DP will step up to the plate when you need him to. DH did for me, for each of our children. But having said that - there's no need to cut him some slack now. Show no mercy!
Growing a bubs is very very tiring. I can't believe just how much energy I have now, compared to the preg.
KIT - god to hear little TiGGR is going well! Look at you - almost at the big 30... that is such a milestone. Good to hear George is curious.... that's a nickname we have for one of ours... curious george.
The whole 1950's time warp happens here sometimes too - but not as much as during the preg - if Hannah is feeding or unsettled she takes priority, so DH has had to cook a few nights and then also take over from me when I am too tired. I thought myself pretty impressive the other night - dinner was in the oven, table set, Hannah asleep.... then for some reason Hannah woke up unexpectedly about 45 mins after she went to sleep and then ensued a couple of hours or so of feeding/settling... so much for a quiet dinner together. Tonight? I have prepped dinner and Hannah is asleep now ( after not sleeping since about midday....) but will see what happens. I am learning not to make to many plans with stuff like this, as little Bear often just says "that won't do" and changes my best laid plans anyway.
Had to laugh at the concept of vacuuming in heels - I am still saying, and DH agrees, that until the 6 week check, no heavy lifting for me - so no vacuuming! Only a week more of that excuse unless I can get the obs to put a moratorium on it. Maybe then I will try it? Might have to find myself a little gingham apron too?
AFM - loving this parenting caper. It can be tough and I have found I have a low frustration threshold, but I am learning to manage that. It seems I have an infection in my wound Started some antibiotics today which I hope clears it up.
Bellyrubs and take care of those precious little ones inside and yourselves.
LOL. I reckon you should hide the xbx controller by sitting on it so he has to feel your bumpy bubs.
God i relise just how lucky i am my ex husband was always on the playstation or fishing he really had nothing to do with our 3 boys unless he felt like it and wasnt even with me when i went to hospital to be induced with our 1st baby i worked 3 jobs while he sat on the dole.
Maybe thats one of the reasons i divorced him.
My DH the love of my life has not missed a single appt or u/s he was there for my cvs and amnio he held my hand and moddy coddled me for days afterwards he hops into bed every night and kisses my belly and says hows my girls he is so careing and just really loves taking care of me but i also spoil him i do 90% of the housework and spoil him to he helps when he is not working and i am i will come home to mopped floors and kids uniforms ironed and their lunches packed i think he truely loves being a dad to my 3 boys and he is going to be a fantastic father when our girl gets here.
He does have a down side he has an impulsive temper and that is why he knocked some drunk out at work he will not take sh#t from anyone they p#ss him off he will sort them out he has gone to anger managment and is a lot better with controling himself until he gets the odd hooligan.
He does not show his temper at home i wont allow it around my kids so he walks away when he gets p#ssed off at home so i supose we all have our faults but i can tell you some days i still pinch myself and cant believe i have found him he is my life and after 4 years he has not wavered in his effection for me I AM SO LUCKY.
AFM-I have my morph scan tomorrow looking forward to seeing our girl again.
