    Bleeding... But ok

    Hi girls...

More just a vent than anything... This baby is doing my head in!!!

At 16.5 weeks I had a touch of bleeding, it was the most insugnificant amount ever, but I saw it... got a scan, and all was ok...

    THEN

Thursday I had quite a bit more, like the start of a period, browny, with slight pinky/red tinge... I felt 'wet' so went to the loo, and when I wiped there was a small amount of blood, then upon further investigation, there it was definite bleeding... I went to hosp and had another scan, and again all looks fine, baby is good, no idea where bleeding is coming from, and cervix intact... they told me to just rest and try not to worry... HA that is much easier said than done... I have been pretty much on the toilet since then making sure there is no more, and since Thursday evenong, nothing??? GO FIGURE

I guess I just needed to get it out, where I know you'll all tell me it's going to be fine... anyone else experienced bleeding and gone on to have a healthy baby??

We are going for 19w scan Wednesday, and still I feel that I am not going to see a HB... Why is all this sooo darn stressfull?

    Melissa,
I had bleeding with Eliza at 29 weeks, she ended up fine similar thing to you we hadnt bd so go figure where it came from. The bleeding stopped and we went another 8 weeks, as long as bub is all ok and cervix is in good shape you should be fine.
But it frightens the life out of you!!

Hi Melissa, sorry you are going through a bit of a stressful time . It's just horrible when you see that blood. I just wanted to let you know that my sister has had a lot of bleeding (and I mean a LOT) in the first and second trimesters of her pregnancy. But she is now 33 weeks pregnant and her bub is perfectly fine and she has had no bleeding for ages. The bleeding was caused by some bruising and her bub kept kicking her right on that spot! Feel reassured that the scans you have had have been fine, I'm sure everything is OK.

Did you DTD before hand? That can cause some bleeding.

I had a huge red 2 day long bleed at about 5 weeks the Dr I saw said I had miscarried. I went and got a scan and they couldn't see a HB and said to come back in 2 weeks for another one. I went back at 8 weeks when I had more bleeding and there he was perfectly happy floating around it was a bruise in the side of the uterus at the implantation site.

I had more bleeding at 18weeks and again at 28weeks, one was after DTD, one was out of nowhere, I got monitored and all was fine. Since then I haven't had another bleed and have a big fat healthy bubs waiting to come out! Try not to stress, I know it's hard but by the 3rd bleed I was very "meh" about it (boy who cried wolf sort of thing). They can be from subchorionic collections that are just bruises in the uterus wall from implantation and other things, they can get better, get worse or stay the same. Mine got worse, then healed itself. The nurse said it's like if you hit your knee on something you get a bruise under the skin but theres no skin in the uterus so it comes out esp if you DTD and it makes the uterus contract it pushes out any blood that's in there.

Fingers crossed it's nothing major and all turns out well, good luck at your scan!

Hi ladies, I am 16 weeks tomorrow and for about 2 weeks I have been having a little bleeding. It all started after s.e.x.... and now it hasn't stopped. I had quite a bit, we went to the emergency room and everything was fine. It happened again and we went again....everything was fine, then the last time it happened, was about two weeks ago and it hasn't really stopped. My cervix is closed and the bleeding isn't coming form the baby. It started off red, then brown, then red, brown, red, brown, red and now brown. The Dr just told me the only thing that he could say was that it was a threatened miscarriage.
No one seems too worried about it except ME!!!! I haven't had cramps or anything like that and bubba's heartbeat is fantastic and his growth is right on track!! So frustrating that it hasn't stopped and no one can tell me where it is coming from!

Nina - is your placenta low down? This type of bleeding can often occur with a low lying placenta. just a thought. It is good news that your cervix is closed and there is no bleeding near your baby.

Yeah no it isn't a low lying placenta either...had that checked too...soooo frustrating. I've sort of just accepted that that is what is happening (bleeding) and that nothing is wrong. Otherwise I might just bring something on by worrying all the time.

    Hi Nina,

Join the club... how frustrating is it when you see blood... not to mention scary!

My Ob said that a lot of early bleeding is unaccounted for, they have no idea why it happens. As the girls mentioned to me, it's a great sign that bubs is ok, and that your cervix is fine.

When's your next appt with your Dr? maybe ask more then, and like me you might need extra scans to monitor things..

Fingers crossed with you... Good lUck!

    Hi ladies,

There is a great article here - Bleeding in Pregnancy - What Could the Bleeding Be? - it might give you some information or reassurance

    Hi Mel,
Yeah it is very scary, I have been in tears on a number of occasions and Joel has been very supportive and positive. He also doesn't seem too worried which puts me at ease. ( but I've seen the little looks of worry on his face )
My next appt is on the 10th of this mth. Going to the hospital to start antenatal care. I'm gonna go with a midwife I think. They seem to be very informative. Maybe I might get some more information there???? I thought that as soon as I found out that the baby was ok that I would feel better, but I still have that nagging question in the back of my mind....."Where is this bleeding coming from?"

Thanks Yael... was good reading... and a little reasuring!

Nina - I totally know what you mean, even though you carry on as if it's all fine, your always thinking the worst in the back of your mind, and just want answers not, 'it's quite normal and we don't really know why!"

Good Luck again, keep me updated on what is happening...

I had a light brown mucusy discharge Sunday Morning, but nothing more... was only one wipe, and no more after that... so frustrating!

It's been a few days and I have had hardly any show whatsoever....It's so exciting! It is getting less and less! Somedays I don't even have any. Yesterday I had nothing all day. Then when my partner came home he asked if I had had any and I said No....almost immediatly I had some come through....wonder if it is psychological?!?!?!?!?

    Hi mel,

Sorry things are tough for you right now, and its hard i know but try to be positive.

I had a large bleed at around 30wks i think and i have now got a healthy 10wk old baby boy. I was also told that they were unsure where the bleed was coming from. I just had to take it easy for the rest of the PG, which was hard too. Was very relieved when i was finally holding my little bubba .

    Huge hugs to you.

Thanks Tears... That is encouraging... it's so hard to take things easy with a 1 year old... lol I am trying though!

Nina - YAY at it all slowing down, I feel the same, don't have anything for ages, then think yep must be all good and over, then wella... whatta ya know, I reckon it's just to keep us on our toes, remiond us how darn precious these little tackers are.

    Hope your feeling ok

Mel - I am so glad that I have someone that is going through what I am. It is horrible that we both are going through it but it is reassuring to know that everything is ok and that in some pregnancys....this does happen. Know what I mean?
Will be a great feeling at the end of the road!

    Hi girls,
I just wanted to add that I have two beautiful girls that were born after having spotting/ light bleeding in each of there pregnancies. No one could tell me why and it was especially scary because I had had a m/c before them.
Thinking of you and wish you all the best
