    does this sound like...(poss tmi)

sorry if tmi, I am 22 weeks pg and am having sensitivity in the downstairs region when I eat certain things, there is no discharge but I get a hot feeling down there about 20 mins after eating certain things (ie so far narrowed it down to vita weats strange i know). it comes and goes and if i don't eat things like that it doesn't happen, even for whole days at a time. someone mentioned thrush but would thrush come and go like this? oh and it can't be related to dtd because there has been none of that for quite a while. i am off to my gp on friday to see what she says but thought in the meantime I would ask, has anyone else had this or can anyone possibly explain what it could be. thanks in advance for your help, and sorry to be blushing lol

    Hi Klee,

Thrush can cause really uncomfortable feelings down there. Best to get it checked. Common in pregnancy and it can cause swelling which may be the feeling you describe. The sensation can come and go! You don't necessarily have to get the discharge with thrush.

As to certain foods causing symptoms, allergies to certain foods can cause leukorrhea (whitish discharge). I have a reference on this but I can't find it just now. Wheat is a common one.

Then again, thrush can be affected by what you eat as it especially likes to feed on sugar.

Let us know how you go and I hope it clears up soon.

Thanks gidget, kimbaz and gorgeous lea

Turns out it was thrush, but gidget the way you explain it, explains it all. Kind of strange the way it coems and goes, but she told me to use the canestan once so I used it on Saturday night but it actually feels like its getting worse and I haven't even eaten any of the things that usually set me off. She took a urine sample and some iron (cause of severe tiredness) so I get those results back tomorrow anyway, so I'll ask her if its supposed to get worse before it gets better. Does anyone know if it is supposed to get worse before better? I am really cranky today too so I wonder if that’s set it off, lol I know I have strange theories.

    Hi Klee,

Hope it is getting better. I understand that Canesten is supposed to work pretty quickly. Me, I am allergic to the something in the Canestan cream - oh well, yes we won't go there but ouch!! So I have to take more gentler preparations that take longer to work - well, that is how my GP explained it.

As to foods - a sugar-free, yeast-free diet can help. There are bound to be sources on the net. Being a bit run down and iron deficient can also make thrush worse - .

Hope it has all cleared up .
