    Laying on your back

I'm 29 weeks pregnant now and went to the beautician the other day to get some waxing done where I was laying on my back for a little while. When I sat up I felt really dizzy and feint. I know that you are supposed to avoid laying on your back so you don't squash the blood vessel that runs down your back with the weight of the baby, but now I am worried I have hurt the baby! Does anyone have any advice? Thanks!

It's best not to lay on your back. You can still get waxed but prop up one side of your buttocks witha pillow. This takes the weight off ... You haven't harmed your baby but the dizziness says ' that wasn't such a good idea'. Try to avoid it but don't stress about what has been.

i agree that the dizziness was just a warning not to do it again, and i reckon the pillow under your bum is a great idea. I slept on my back right up til 37 weeks without any worries to me or bub, but then i started to feel the dizziness so i stopped. Don't worry your baby is fine.

Thanks for your replies, I will try not to stress and definitely won't be doing that again!

i usually go mainly on side for waxing and when i have to be on back keep one leg bent or a pillow under bum. it wont harm bubs though... just uncomfy and not ideal for long periods of time...
