    Question Low Lying Placenta....

    Hi Everyone,

I have a close friend who had her scan on Thursday - and she has been told that her placenta is low lying....1.4cm from the cervix.

Does anyone know whether this is anything to worry about?

I had a low-ish placenta with my 3rd bub, but it rectified itself - but I didn't have a measurement to work on.

I would like to reassure my friend, but I would love to have some hard evidence to help.....can you help!?

I had a low lying placenta with DD aswell, cant remember how low now but they told me if it didnt move up I would have to have a c-section but my 36 week scan showed that it had moved up so I didnt have to.

Hope it moves up for your friend

How many weeks pregnant is she? Unless she is due to give birth it's not a concern because it will likely move up by 37 weeks.

    Hi,

I had the same thing when i was at the same stage except placenta was 2cms from cervix. usually it moves away and its all good. she'll just have another scan closer to her EDD. Also my sister had the same problem except her placenta was completely covering the cervix (level 4 placenta previa). Hers didnt end up moving away & she had a fair bit of problems like bleeding etc. so her bub was delivered by c/s.

    hope that helps

i had the same thing as well. by 32 weeks it had moved to 8cms and that was fine.
I was really worried when i had my first scan and they told me, no matter wat anyone told me i kept thinkin it woudlnt grow up. just assure ur friend that it is very common and it will most def move.
