I use to love it when people commented on the size of my bump. Like you I looked an easy 2-3 months ahead of where I was at. I like the comment "at least I ave an excuse" as a slight retaliation, but what you are doing is growing a baby, your body will change thats part of the wonder of creation. Be proud of all the lumps and bumps it truely is a wonderful time in your life and one that you will remember always.
Oh we were just talking about this the other day on our Belly Buddies thread!
There seems to be such a huge variation in ways to carry your baby even from one pregnancy to another in the same woman - it really is none of people's business to comment inappropriately. Having said that I do marvel (and comment myself - nicely tho!) at the difference between my good friend and a colleague: both are due within a couple of days of each other (currently at 34 weeks). My friend is a small framed yet reasonably tall gal and sticks out a mile with a lovely perfectly round bump whereas my colleague is a tall, braod-shouldered athletic build - also a pilates buff for years (ie very strong stomach muscles) and seriously you'd hardly know she was preggers even though she's almost cooked!
I'm copping lots of the 'small for dates' comments myself - I reckon this baby just takes after me (oh please let it have my small head ) - small runty child that shot up to be strapping teen
I get them too - more so with this pregnancy (#4). At 26-28 weeks i went thru a huge growth spurt, and i honestly looked and felt bigger than i had with previous pregnancies.....im now just all belly, and ive looked at my past pregnancy journals, and im carrying the same, weigh the same etc....but yes, those comments arent nice to hear. I had one the other morning at school drop off 'gosh....your HUGE'....ummmm gee thanks, ive still got 4 weeks to go.....so yeah, its not something you like to hear, i guess in a few weeks i will be getting 'so is he/she a good baby'...etc, etc. It goes in cycles hon...people just cant help themselves......
I hear you, I was the same at around 16 weeks... All you can do is take it in your stride as much as you can. Of course, on a bad day you're more than within your rights to make an inappropriate observation back about the person making comment 'gee I didn't realise you had so many grey hairs' or 'yes my belly is growing, but at least mines all baby'
It annoys me no end how many people think that because you're pregnant they have the right to make comments about your body, that otherwise would be completely inappropriate and even border on sexual harassment. There have been a couple of occasions where people (FIL being one of them) have asked to see my belly and I've cheekily responded with 'I'll show you mine if you show me yours'... it certainly put them back in their place.
fatty!! :P hehehehe jkin embrace it, be proud of ur tum coz after october it'll be gone and then you;ll miss it, a big belly doesnt mean a big baby, also a small tummy doesnt mean small bub, when i went in to have miss c the midwife said i looked tiny and she'd be no bigger than 6pd....haha 8pd 2oz thank u very much!!
I don't think I "popped" until about 18 weeks and I was sooooo hanging out for a fat belly to show off! I would just let people know how proud you are of your belly and how you are creating a wonderful watery environment for your healthy little one!
I guess I got what I wanted because my belly is so huge now that a stranger commented on a photo of me on a friend's facebook and she said "OMG, did your baby eat a watermelon?!"
I started showing quite early, and now I am 30 weeks I am getting mixed responses.. within 5 mins of each other I can be told..
"Gee your tiny for 30 weeks"
"What a cute little bump"
"Thats a nice size bump, all out in front" or then
"OMG are you sure your not having twins"
"Geeze your huge"
I cant keep up, so I just smile and nod.. but I swear it does depend on what I am wearing as well! But everyone def just has to share their opinion!
