    Will bubba's face be squished?

    Hi everyone,

I had a "growth and well being" scan today. It was fantastic. Bubba was NOT co-operative when they were trying to get the 3D images though. I have an anterior placenta and apparently its common for babies to enjoy pressing their faces into it and that's exactly what mine was doing

What I'm wondering is bubba going to come out with a squished nose? I know these things fix themselves up with time but I'd like to prepare if I can.....

    TIA

I a not sure why, but when DD was born her littel nose was so squashed - almost flat actually!

But after a few days it was fine (and she had hairy monkey ears, thank goodness that is gone!!)

I have never heard of that happening - I had an anterior placenta with my son, and also have one with this one too.

    I doubt it

    HI there!
I too had a anterior placenta with DD.

    SHe is fine!

THeir little noses come out a little squished with flarey sided nostrils (if that makes sense) when first born to make it easier for them to breathe when their faces are squashed into big breasts!!!

    Thanks everyone for your reassurance.

SamiH & Pink Palace - Like I said apparently bubs love planting their faces in an anterior placenta so nice to know you about both of your experiences

Kitt3n - Nice to know that even if bub does come out a little squished in the nose region that it will sort out so quickly

    Thanx again

Bubs will probably come out a bit squished anyway, from the trip down the birth canal. Sometimes they can have little coney heads too, but it all smooths out!

They all have squished noses - it's a design feature that allows them breathe when they squash their faces up against your boob to have a feed.

Isabelle was posterior and her face was squashed into my pelvis, and she came out with strawberry marks on her nose from me pushing too early. They will fade in time, and we don't even notice it!
I think all bubs look a bit squashed up at birth!

Yeah - combo of being squeezed out when born, and a natural baby thing for feeding. Same as they have little receded chins to help with feeding too. All part of that baby cuteness
