Hi Ange, (long post but hope this helps you.)

I'm in cairns too not sure who your ob is but when i had my girls the ob told me that i was having large babies and they both measured two weeks advanced.
I asked him how big he replied he can't tell me but he predicts about a 9pnder or 10 pnder. I freaked when he said that but he assured me that there is no real way of telling an exact size it is just a prediction. He also told me that i would not need a c/s i would be able to deliver naturaly. He was one great ob and so positive and made you feel so at ease.
I went into labour just after cyclone larry with dd1 i was 4 days early. I had a great labour naturally and had a shot of pethadine and some gas DD1 was a huge 10pnd 5. I did have a tear internally and i went into shock from the loss of blood i was rushed to emergency to get fixed up and i remember waking up with all these people asking me if i had had a blood trans and my ob at the end of the bed as pale as a ghost! I freaked but i regained some sense into me and recovered after alot of drips/fluids and things into me. It turns out i had a blood vessel down there and Miss T decided that on the way out she would pop it open.

I then fell preggas with number 2 and i was scared just like you in that i would have the same problem and all of that i asked my ob about a c/s i was not wanting to do that but i did keep my options open in case i had too. He told me that i would not need a c/s at all unless i specifically wanted to he told me the pros and cons and went through it all but was more wanting me to have natural than c/s.
Right up until i went into labour i had in the back of my mind oh if this blood vessel bursts again i might die and all these stupid thoughts kept going through my head. In the end i delivered naturally and not only that my dd2 was 10pnd 6 and came out fine with no burst blood vessells or stitches needed i did though get hemeroids

SO in my opinion Ange you do what you think is best for you. The docs have the history of what happened before therefore they should be prepared for it again. Can they not let you go natural and if at all during labour it gets complicated and a health concern for you and the baby then do a c/s at least you tried and you no that in the end you had no choice? Can i ask why they are saying that you need to have a c/s or why they are worried as i can't see how they can justify it is needed because of some nerves not working? Your the client Ange you tell them the plan and they have to go with it.
