Fundal Height not measuring up to date

    Hey Ladies,

Today I had my 32wk check up and the doc has sent me off for an us because my fundal height is not measuring up to 32wk. Apparently I have not grown at all in 2wks. She told me not to worry, but she just wants to check bubs stats via u/s.

Doc also said it could just be the way I am carrying. I am quite tall and my hips are wider so my bubs tend to hang out in my back iykwim.

I know I should not be worried but I am also getting heaps of ppl tell how small my belly is. Has anyone else had this issue?

    Hi Bek,

i posted a topic last week about the same thing, only that my OB says i'm measuring 2wks ahead!! she said if i'm still ahead next time, she'll send me for an u/s too!.. but the lovely ladies here allayed my fears, apparently it is common to measure up or down each time. And your right, it can depend on position of bubs etc! Try not to worry, i'm sure all will be great with your bubs! i've stopped thinking about it now!

    take care

The fundal height is not exact, so as haroula said dont stress about it. The measurement can be affected by bubs position, amount of fluid and other things. I think I was always measuring "behind". I too was told by people "omg youre 30 weeks?? no way! youre tiny" and stuff like that, but then other people would ask if I was carrying twins because they thought I was huge... Anyway, I have a perfectly healthy baby who was a good weight and size at birth.

Bek, it can even come down to the person measuring your fundal height. It's not an exact science so variations are bound to occur. Bub could have dropped lower into your pelvis thus lowering the height. Or bub could have just changed positions.

I know it's easier said than done hun, but try not to stress about it. Not like it will fix anything. And think of the positive. You get another peak at bub

    Hi Bek
I too am measuring small for my dates but as I've said in the other thread my amniotic fluid is low. I am having another scan on Monday to check on bub. My measurements are lower again today so my Ob was a bit concerned. As the others have said the only way to get correct info is to have a scan. Try not to worry too much as there are many reasons these measurments vary hun.

    Hi

I think nearly everyone has covered everything! I had the exact same problem. They sent me for a scan and everything was fine. I am 5'10 and bubs was laying against my spine. Dont panic as everyone has said there are many things to take into consideration. At my next appointment i was measureded by 2 midwivies and they both got different measurements by a cm and a half! Hope everything goes well! Chin up and keep on smiling!

Hi there, well I'm short (5 ft tall) and had the same 'problem' with my daughter last time (measuring small). I ended up with lots of monitoring and a few ultrasounds in the last few weeks and in the end she came out completely average weight (7lb) and length (50cm) so please don't be too concerned. At least they're keeping an eye on you.

I am having the same problem atm, I have a scan booked in for tomorrow because I am measuring 4 cm smaller than I should, and haven't changed in 2 weeks.
I had a ctg and it was good news, the midwife said it's probably just less fluid, but it's better to be safe than sorry.!
