    Help!!!!!!! Vaginal breech delivery ?!?!?!

Sorry mods if I'm in the wrong place

so I'm 32+1 and last night my waters broke so I got my 3 lol kiddies organized snd am in hosp...had my steroids inj, tablets to stop labour and antibiotics and cervix is still long and only 1.5 cm dialated.....

So here's the problem bub is breach, bum first and I'm hoping for stories or advice for a vaginal delivery the Dr's have said they will let me try but if she gets stressed or I have cord prolapse it's a csec.....I hate needles and the thought of a csec scares the crap outta me!!!!I know there safe etc but that's how I sm with needles etc

I have had 3 vag births already and she aprox weighs 1.78 according to scan today

advice is greatly appreciated I guess I just need a lil confidence as I want a healthy baby and worry I'm being selfish and putting her at risk although the dr said the chance of something bad is very small ...
They're hoping she makes 2 more weeks so fingers crossed

I'm really getting scared so thanx all
medical advice as well as success stories would be great

I can't help with turning bub other than to recommend the site Spinning Babies.

On keeping bub in a bit longer, my friend's water broke last January at 30 weeks & her little man managed to hang in there until 32 weeks 3 days. It is possible to get any two weeks further on.....

    hun, good luck!

All I can say it try to know what to expect. The hospital you are birthing at is obviosuly experienced with vaginal breech births or they would be saying absolutely no and trying to make you have a C/S. You will need continuous monitoring during your labour (I am sure its a hospital policy) birthing a breech and prem baby but that way the hospital staff can monitor her level of stress if any and know she is doing ok during your labour. They should be prepared for something unexpected (like cord prolapse etc) and have everything in place to quickly convert to a C/S if need be. Of course there are risks but like you mentioned the chance is small just because she is breech. Being prem is more of a concern (as I am sure you know with having prems before). As for her turning it is possible but if all your fluid is gone (from the ruptured membranes) it will be harder for her to turn with no fluid to swim around in. I don't think turning a baby with no amniotic fluid would be wise but I am not 100% sure about this. Turning her there would be a greater risk of cord compression (squashing her cord) when its not protected by the fluid.
Good luck. Hope you have a good birth experience and looking forward to hearing her arrival weather thats today or several weeks away.

Sorry I can't help with personal experience with a breach birth, but I think it is AWESOME that they are willing to let you try, and they will be there monitoring and making sure all is ok.
They prefer prems to be born Vaginally too, as it it really good for their lungs, as it is for FT bubs, but can have a bigger impact on prems, the 'roids will help a lot too!

I hope your little one stays warm and cosy for a while longer, everyday in the belly counts, I had a 33 weeker so if you have any prem questions feel free to ask or PM me PM me

Will cross fingers that she spins by herself.

Are you on strict bed rest?

If so it may make the Spinning Babies stuff quite tricky/risky. But your Dr's would be able to see if it is safe enough to try or it may be too risky to try now as it may bring on labour again. But if you can hold on a bit longer you may be able to try then, if not now.

Sending you lots of spinning and warm and cosy vibes for your little girl

No advice but If te Docs are confident in a vag deliv you can be too! Tho won't they ask you to have an epi anyway in case they do need to do c-sec (you might want to ask due to your needle phobia) and FWIW my mums waters broke big time, and early and he born 6 weeks later.

Bum first (Frank) breech is the best presentation for vag birthing a breech Only thing to be a little concerned about is that with your bub being prem, it's likely her head is a little bigger than her hips so that's probably the only thing that might throw a spanner in. I'm sure the drs will be all over it though - I think it's awesome they'll let you give it a go.
IMO, I don't think it's selfish of you to want to try a vag birth. I understand in as much as I possibly can having not been there myself. I wish you all the best - hoping that little girl stays in for a bit longer!

you dont want her to turn now due to the possible cord prolapse.
breech vaginal births need to be hands off.
they are generally longer and take a bit more work but being bubs is small(something that often goes with breech presentations)
hands and knees will be your best position(opens your pelvis up the most)
and remember you can do it!!

Hon you may wish to check out Henci Goers website - she has a transcript of her book on the website about breech vaginal birth.
I haven't been in your situation I'm afraid so I can't give any personal advice - only make sure you dose up on probiotics (friendly bacteria) now and continue to take them for at least 2 weeks once you are done with the antibiotics.
Reason being the antibiotics are as effective at killing the friendly bacteria in your system (probiotics) as they are at starving off the bad. You need this friendly bacteria for optimum nutrient absorption from your food, and it will enhance yours and the baby's immune system- as well as increase the number of probiotic 'friendly' bacteria present in your breastmilk which helps to prevent colic, relfux etc. Not taking probiotics after antibiotics can also increase your risks of developing yeast conditions such as thrush, candida, UTI's etc.
You can buy probiotic capsules from the fridge of your nearest health food store - needs to be kept in fridge.

Praying your little bubba stays put for now.

My fb, msn and bh aren't working on my phone lol
I got a nice midwife tonight after being ignored and having to buzz for my medicine to stop contractions coz she was on lunch lol but I just talked to this new one about the fact I'm getting rather stressed coz they make a big deal of telling you risks but not of telling you the good side And about the reason I hate the thought of a csec is coz I know with every little tug I will get stressed and freak coz I can feel something which I know is irrational but it's what I do lol so she's gonna get the anethatist (sp) to talk to me about the pros and cons of the epidural vs general so hopefully that will help put me at ease For knowing my options if there's an emergency does anyone know stats or anything of things going smoothy compared to going wrong...I am in a tertiary hosp she said with theatre only min away but ATM it seems like the bad happens as much as the good

also what are thoughts on having the epidural so if something goes wrong it's already done....I'm so confused

Best of luck! I was all ready to give it a go when my little miss turned back around luckily.

I will be waiting to hear how you go! I hope you get the birth you want.

I went into labour and trialled for a vaginal breech before we went for a c-section. I got to 7cm at full term until he went into distress. His head was stuck between my ribs and the anterior placenta. The dents in his head were impressive It was under general and I was in theatre within minutes. There was no issues with DS - he was fine and so was I. Just the usual c-section recovery.

In retrospect I would have had the epidural inserted but not working so I had the option of being awake for it but I don't regret the decisions I made at the time. For DD I agreed to the epidural (during transition but that is another story) for her VBAC so if it all did go pear shaped (it didn't) we could go straight to theatre and I would be awake for her birth.

Good luck!! And don't forget, you can get a re-accumulation of amniotic fluid if you aren't still leaking
