It is not all that unusual for your BP to be a little high when visiting your GP. In fact we have a term for it, “white coat hypertension”. Your BP will also be increased if you have been having a stressful or exciting day. There is also a chance that your GP made an error when checking your BP but it would be very unusual to be that far out.
