    Moving About?

Let me say before I start, I am a worry-wart. But everytime I get too worried, I post and the wonderful people make me feel better - so here I am.

Just gone 30 weeks and finding that I don't get a lot of movements. I told my OB I was worried and he did an U/S (all ok) and even sent me for some monitoring (where the baby spent 80% of the time trying to kick the disc off and making me look like a lunatic!)... I just find that some days I get some really noticeable big kicks and other times I get a couple of tickles right down low and that's it. I've been told 10 movements a day is suffice and I do get that, I just keep reading about people getting big kicks in their ribs and so on...

Am I unusual, or just being my normal stressed out self... Thanks for any advice...

I am 38 weeks and never felt any of those really big rib kicks. In fact I have only ever really felt flowing type movement, not any kicking. I had two fetal monitoring episodes where like you, baby decides to move when you have just told specialists that he/she is not moving! It depends on positioning, your placenta, your nerve endings etc on how baby kicks and how it feels to you. Just make sure you get the 10 a day and call you OB if you are ever concerned. They would see many people who feel a change but baby is ok so don't worry about being wrong.

    Hi ladies..

I've had a quiet bub from the start...!! I don't get any big kicks either.. just movement...but like was mentioned 10 a day is heaps! and i have found that now as bubs is a bit bigger and taking up more room, in stead of feeling less movement i am starting to feel more! so don't worry... when i was 30 weeks i only felt small movements.. and lots down low! that means bubs is were it should be! it also depends on where your placenta is.. back or front... if it is in the front you are likely to feel less movement.!
If you want to get more movement.. try having a VERY cold drink or an icy pole, or a glass of coke.. these thigns work for me! Bubs love them!

But if in doubt always ring them.. that's what they are there for!!

I think I've got a gymnast or something like that baking in here. I get what feels like the baby stretching out and man, it hurts sometimes when it's poking its little whatever it is around the joint. I get alot of sweeping movements, little kicks, big kicks, pokes, prods and general rowdiness. Right now, I'm trying to type uninterrupted...but no, someone ain't liking that! I have periods for about 5 minutes or so where Ramlet is wriggling incessantly.

As Haroula said, I too have been feeling more movement as bubs has gotten bigger. My placenta is at the front, so until recently, all the movement I felt was on the sides (now bubs is big enough that I can feel movements at the front too!)

If you're worried the cold, sweet drink thing helps - particularly if you can lie down for a while - this is when I get the most movement.

I have been wondering the last few days also as I am getting a lot less movements than I had previously but I think what it is is that the type of movement has changed. I used to get a lot of jarring kicks and now they tend to be more pushing and stretching which I see more than feel or if it is along my "waist"band I feel it more. I think I am just not noticing them as much unless I am paying attention specifically. I hear that it is very normal for things to start slowing down from now on... there is less space for acrobatics after all.

Hi there - I'm the same my little one has always been pretty chilled and even now at 37.5 weeks she doesn't move about that much. Movements are definitely bigger and stronger now, but its in only been in the last week or so that its really been possible to see the movement from the outside - I guess we're just blessed with chilled little souls!

I've worried myself to death about it as well as you here everyone else saying how their babies are keeping them up and are kicking them in uncomfortable places, but every time I've been checked I've always had the all clear. I do also have an anterior placenta which doesn't help with seeing/ feeling movement either.

Try not to worry as long as the movement doesn't disappear altogether or decrease dramatically - you've just got a nice considerate bub!

It is normal to worry, especially when you read about how many times you baby "should" be moving about on average... i started to worry after not feeling my baby for 5 hours after one huge ...HUGE movement. (looked like a big wave was crashing in my belly) and after i tried all the things mentioned above (cold drink, even hearing bubs heart beat on my doppler wasnt enough as i thought it was mine!!) i called the hospital and went in for monitoring.. they were really good about it, so dont worry that you are worrying to much and go with ur instinct as it is usually right.
