When i had the show they put a monitor on and i was not contracting and i know at the moment i am not in labour i just have this feeling that i am dialated and i will go early and i am a little scared as my labours don't last long. I really want to know if i have started to dialate like i think!!!!!
I think we're going through the exact same thing at the moment. That's me down to a tee today. Before when sitting on the toilet, I thought to myself, I think I'm dilating. Weird. If you go in when you're in early labour, they'll do what they can to stop it. They'll give you some steroids for bubs lungs as well. At 32 weeks, bubs chances are good. Good luck hun.
I don't think they can refuse if you ask for an internal. Or you could look up how to do it yourself.
Maybe ask Alan. I'm pretty sure he could give you a good idea of what to look for
I would go in and get checked out JIC, you could test your cervix yourself if you felt game to see if youa re dialating, but I am not sure if it is advisible at this stage.
DD didn't receive steroids and I delivery her at 33 weeks and we were extremely lucky at the time, but she has lung issues now (requiring numerous hospitalisations) that may have been avoided if she made it to term, BUT it is NOT a risk I would like to take, you never know the complications that can arise from having a baby prematurely, 32 weeks is a good gestation as such when you compare it to the early prems, but by no means is it "safe" I know a lot of prems who have had long hospital stays and problems born at 32 weeks or later.
You really want you baby baking to full term
FWIW I had no idea I was dialating, couldn't even feel it, and I had 45 min on contracts and was 8cm, so I either dilated very quickly or didn't feel it what so ever, I have had quite a few cramps through the cervix area and my scan a couple of days ago showed the I was still closed and it had lengthened a little since my previous scan, so it was good to know the cramps aren't "doing anything" as such for me.
Take care, and get checked out to ease your mind and be prepared should something happen, we had no time at all, my labour progressed very quickly and we were just blessed the DD was able to cope with her early arrival, and by no means was it an easy journey. I don't mean to sound like I am harping on, but most people don't really understand what it is like to have a baby prematurely, and if you have been through it you wouldn't wish it on anyone. xxoo
Yes they will try to stop your labour. Yes they will give you an internal. Yes they will give you an injection. However as clover said they will only try to stop your labour if they think that they can. If you have progressed too long then they will not be able to stop it.
Also the injection they give you to help with your baby’s lungs is better if you have 2 injections about 12 hours apart. I would suggest that you go and get checked.
I was too far for them to stop it, being 7-8cm on arrival.
With the steroids is it 3 injections over 48 hours, 24 hours appart for them to have the best effect, the MW ask my OB if she should administer the steroids as I was pushing DD out even I knew it was too darn late!
