    Pelvic bone hurts???

hi everyone, I'm 31 weeks pg and this is my second pg. My pelvic bone hurts alot. More in the morning when i get up, i can barely walk or go to sit down and lift my legs it hurts. I've been getting braxton hicks alot and i have lots of pressure and belly pains but i've never had this before, would this be just the pressure of the baby? I actually feel like its bruised and it really hurts and has been going on for about 3 weeks but it not getting any better. Has anyone else had this??

Go see a physio - I'd suspect SPD.

Yeah, I've been getting it on and off for the past few weeks. It's really annoying.
One midwife said it could be the baby's head banging on the pelvic bone, another said it was just the hormones making the joints relax.
When it's acting up, lying down is the only comfortable position. But rolling over is very painful if I want to swap sides.
Not long to go now and it will all be over.

Yup. That's SPD! Gotta love those hormones.

I haven't experienced birth with SPD (and I've had it for all my pregnancies) but from what I've read, no it won't make a difference unless it is really really severe SPD (like, in a wheelchair type of SPD).

My midwives aren't worried and neither was my physio that I was seeing in Queensland.

I experienced this in the last few months of my pregnancy. Definitely those hormones causing trouble! My bub was breech, and was nowhere near my pelvis so it wasn't pressure on my pelvis.
I also had a c/s, so can help you with regards to the birth.

The relaxin hormone can hang around for quite a while after birth as well, and I experienced pelvic and back pain up until a few weeks ago. Not as bad as when pregnant, but still quite uncomfortable.

I would recommend going to a physio. I just saw the physios at the hospital. I went weekly for the last 2 months, and it definitely gave me a little relief for a couple of days each week.

I am another who is going to recommend a physio. You may or may not have SPD.

I had 'mild' pelvic pain, which I thought would improve if i went to pilates etc. Thankfully they asked me to get assessed first - and the pain got worse every day. I ended up like you - hardly able to walk.

I don't have SPD (thankfully) but I have sacroilliac Joint dysfunction. It is ridiculously painful...like knives going in. I am seeing a physio once/twice a week, and I am the proud owner of a number of pelvic belts etc - all trying to help support the joint.

I am doing excercises to strengthen my abs and glutes. I have to ice it too. It is slowly getting better. I have not been able to walk the dog in a month (poor doggie) but i can walk in the pool. But NOT swim (swimming is very bad).

I still can hardly roll over in bed at night - i end up in a world of pain. But the physio has given me loads of little tips and techniques that has made everything much more manageable.

It is fixable (especially if you are not UTD )

See a physio - you will at least know exactly what you are dealing with then.

Big hugs for you - it's literally a PITA!!

ETA: I haven't actually told anyone else on BB about this, but I am 'fessing up, as I hope it might help you.

I have SPD and what you describe sounds like exactly what I am feeling. I saw the physio at the hospital and she told me there isnt much she can do to help me, so I never went back to see her. I dont have long to go now but have found this pregnancy quite difficult and glad its my last.

Good Luck, I hope you can get some relief xx

    Hi Lozza

I had SPD and that progressed into Diastasis (there are tonnes of threads around here with me moaning about the pain) I was wheelchair bound for the last month of pregnancy, and I own a lovely collection of pelvic belts and a walking frame.

If anything SPD or DSP makes giving birth easier, as it widens the pelvic canal. Just make sure you know how far you can separate your legs.

It is often caused by malpositioning (DD2 was posterior and DD3 was facing my left leg) so having the extra space makes it possible for you to birth naturally. I was told that I could have 4-6 months recovery, but I was walking (gingerly) on day 3 post birth. DD3 is now 4.5 months old and I can do long distance walks and only have a mild ache by the end of it. I have pretty much full range of movement back.

Get some panadeine, Ice and a dishwasher. Make sure you do as little heavy lifting as possible (make someone else do the washing) and rest as much as you can.

Oh I hear you! I've got the same pains - SPD and sacro-illiac joint issue along with pain across my thighs so I'm all about hot packs, cold packs, pain killers, pelvic belts and physio. But to be honest not a lot of that helped! The best thing I could do was finish work early since sitting in a chair turns into a nightmare! I've been on sick leave almost two months! I'm now 38 weeks and it's even worse so I just can't wait to give birth! My pain started really early - about four months in - so I'm impatient for it to go away!

Lean a few tricks on how to roll over, get dressed and move around if you can - that' s the only thing that helps a little for me!
