Tingling at Top of Uterus

Hello. I'm 38 weeks and I've been getting strengthening tingling sensations (kind of like pins and needles) across the top of my uterus (just under my bb's) on and off now for 5 days since losing my mucous plug on Monday night. They are not painful though. I've been getting them for about 4 weeks but the last 5 days they are becoming more frequent and stronger. They only last for about 5-10 seconds sometimes 5 minutes apart and other times 40 minutes apart so I'm assuming they are BH? The problem I'm having is that my tummy seems to be rock hard all the time so I cant even feel if these sensations are coupled with a hardening of my tummy. Even the Ob has mentioned that he has trouble feeling the contractions.

Other symptoms I've been getting since Monday night are:

Nausea
Insomnia
Slight pains radiating from bottom down to thighs
Headaches
Back ache especially in the afternoon
Lots of number 2's (this has been happening for 2 weeks though)
Pressure in bottom
Slight period cramping

There is little doubt in my mind that I'm in pre-labour but can anyone share some stories that they may have about what happened to them during their pre-labour and how long it took for it to progress into real labour????
