What do you do to get sleep at night?
I am really struggling with loads of hip and uterus pain during the night in bed, and a good night is 4 hours sleep.
I have tried pillows in between my legs, under my belly and propping me up a bit, but last night it was just excruciating and sleep was definately a no go.
I am starting to consider sleeping upright on the couch, cause at the moment the nights are just so long it is ridiculous.
Having a snooze during the day is generally out of the question as well with a 3yo and a 1 yo that do not sleep at the same time ( 3yo doesn't generally sleep at all)
So what do you do to get sleep at night at 37 weeks?
We've got an mp3 player we've put an audio book on to. We fall asleep listening to that. I do find that when I wake up in the middle of the night for the countless time, my hips are in agony and I can't walk or roll over or anything coz it feels like they're going to snap. So when I do get back from the loo, or getting a drink coz my mouths so dry, i get into a semi comfy/uncomfy position and *try* to imagine its not that painful.
The only thing I've ever found to help getting to sleep is a multitude of pillows. The pregnancy pillow wedged under the belly; another wedged under my back; two together, forming exactly the right height, under my head; the doona under my feet; and generally the cat joins in and braces against the back of my knees.
Astoundingly, there is still room in the bed for my DH after all this is arranged.
Less astoundingly, I generally no sooner get as close to comfy as I can when the baby starts what feels like the Intra-Uterine Soccer Championships and I have to move.
I hope you get some rest soon. :hugs:

I hope you're feeling a bit better. I'm the same, have had agonising hip pain since about 24 wks and have finally found a solution for me. I sleep on a slight angle (lying flat is agony) with pillows starting from under my bum/hips, one under my lower back and a comfy stack up to my shoulders. Also use a heat pack at night. I also went to a chiropractor last week and had a hip adjustment and she said everything was way way out of whack. Since doing the above its made a huge difference and been getting a much better nights sleep. Hope some or any of this works for you hun xoxo
i didnt get much sleep either. i believe its practice for when bubs comes along..... i slept tilted back on our recliner. it really helped my sore ankles.
I can't offer any advice, but I'm sooo sympathetic as it sounds just like what I'm going through... my legs ache or my back aches, so then I try and roll over but I get such a sharp pain in my pervis/groin everytime I do... then there's the getting up for the loo...
Ahhh... is a solid 8 hours sleep a thing of the past forever??!

Thanks for your suggestions and sympathy girls! *mwah*
A solid 8 hour sleep - I have not had one of those in nearly 4 years! OMG!!! I need to stop having kids!
Trace, I find if I go to bed to early, then I am in even more trouble as the longer I am laying down the more my back hurts iykwim. I am totally hearing you on the heartburn too - what a shocker! I am living on Gaviscon tablets at the moment.
I have spent half of the day in tears today just through shear exhaustion, I try to remind myself that while the baby is inside I don't have to feed it, put it to sleep or change it's nappy, but gees that is starting to wear thin!
I think I might have to try and fit a visit to a masseur in somewhere along the line!
You poor thing! I'm only 18 weeks so far, but i have developed almost insomnia during the night and i usually can't get comfy either, so the other night my DP lovingly piled up all our pillows so i would be kind of sitting up in bed i tell you what, i got a good solid sleep for at least 5 hours, woke up for the loo, and then back to sleep for another 4 hours - it was really good! Lying down is so uncomfortable to sleep now...
I reckon you should try camping out on your lounge for a night, see how it goes! Try the sitting up and it could just be that a change in routine of where you sleep does the trick (i know that sounds weird, but sometimes sleeping out of my bed does wonders!)
Relle with Indah my back & hips were worse & every week I saw a chiro for the last 1o wks or so & OMG I cringed climbing his staircase every Tuesday morning but I could do cartwheels out of there no worries!!!
