morning all.

i love saturday mornings, charlie and i stay in bed till about 9.30 playing games and then we have a nap and then up for breakfast. its real me and charlie time. Gav is always at work or mountain bike riding he gets his time sunday morning.

Abs - charlie used to grab my hair all the time till i continually told him to be gentle now the minute he grabs hold - i say gentle and he goes back to patting. he still pulls gav's hair even if he tells him to be gentle -hehehehehe.

I know, tis amazing huh Jacci. In my 3 mums groups, all boys are learning quicker too, hehe. How cute & being gentle too, Holly's gentle sometimes & pulls it others, hehe.

Hmmm, since weaning Holly 3wks ago, she's been sick twice & developed excema, bugger. She has a cold now & temp keeps going up after panadol wears off but is only a slight temp, just under 38.

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.

Shell - is it definately a cold for Holly, or could it be teething? Runny noses and temps are signs that a tooth could be on its way.

Jacci - sounds like you have lovely Saturday mornings - wish mine were that peaceful. Just as an example, mine typically goes like this morning did. Josiah up at 5.30am, Mark got up and stayed up with him to let me sleep in, Janae up at 6.30, comes and wakes me up to get her breakfast (when she knows she's supposed to ask dad) 7.30 I get up because I can't sleep because Josiah is crying uncontrollably and Mark is only making half hearted attempts at settling him (coz he really wants me to get up). 7.30 was a sleep in this morning, normally it's all over by 6.45!

Anyway, I didn't really come in to have a whinge, sorry about that! I actually came in to ask if any of you had moved on to 6month+ formula for bubs? If you have, was bubs unsettled for the first few days after switching? Mark brought the wrong formula at the beginning of the week, not just wrong brand, but wrong stage too (He knew which one to get, but thought he'd try a cheaper one :) ) Anyway, Josiah was really unsettled the whole time I used it, but I don't know whether it was the different brand or the different stage. I've switched back now coz the tin only lasted 4 days (so much for being cheaper) and he's a lot better but i don't know whether to hold off on getting the next stage in the right brand or not. I didn't have this problem with Janae coz she only started formula after 6 months old.

That turned out longer than expected, sorry. Gotta go sort out a hyperactive child (thanks to a sugar rush)

yippeee on so many fronts there Theresa, must feel like a new family :P

Bel, we were told to stay on the "up-to-6month" formula - no rush to go to a new one - yikes on Mark both on the tin and "wanting you to get up"

Last night Jordy had 1/2 bottle at 11.30 (with me), full bottle at 3 (with Jen), up again at 5.30 (me) with 3/4 bottle at 7am, back to bed at 7.15... then did a double sleep (ie 2x40min) - meaning I got to sleep til 9.30 (Jen got up when he woke at 8.45). That felt better :D

We then went out for brekkie - I'd not left the house since Thu the week before when I dropped my car of for repairs - yikes - I get it back on Thu I believe. Fed Jordy while we were out, and the little bugger, stayed awake in the car til we turned back into our street. I got him out of the car and into his cot without waking. He had another 40min nap then we went to Jen's parents for lunch

Got ANOTHER bbq at our place next Sunday now - that's 3 outta 4 weekends - yumm. Tis Jen's mums b'day. Means more pork ribs that I've now perfected


We had a pretty big arvo when we got home, Jordy passed out at 5pm, Jen cooked a big batch of bolognese so heaps in the freezer. Then we went to bed at 7.30 - well I went to sleep but in snore monster land - and kept waking Jen :( Maybe I might go see someone about that - it really is getting annoying for her... and I do love sleeping on my back vs my side

Mr woke about 30mins ago, rather than doing a feed, I thought I'll just change his nappy (fairly wet) and put him back to bed... and come on here so I dont fall asleep. I think he's now asleep again - no sounds coming from his room

Oh yeah, Jen was speaking to a friend who has spent most of the last week up on Heron Island... apparently the mood is still quite affected by Steve Irwins passing. There's lots of different types of rays around the island, and Nic said heaps of turtles on the beach. We were there 12 months ago... awesome place. Nic was apparently organising what our wedding would be like :p

Hmm and someone is having a bit of a chat to himself... I'll be up for a little while it looks like

Oh I didn't realise that Bel, taa. Hmm not sure, the top 2 teeth are getting closer to her gums but still about 1mm off, can't see any others close to coming thru. She's been grizzly for about 1-2wks now. Still has mucous in throat (can hear her breathing it up & down) which they prescribed penicillin for but it didnt completely disappear, now runny nose & blows green snot bubbles & snoores a little with it, hehe, poor bub, she's not herself lately. No more coughing/sneezing than usual though & temp & runny nose developed around 4hrs after GP visit, doh. Her temp is ok as of this morning.
Hmm not sure, started Holly on a diff stage & brand formula 2wks ago, but she was teething too & now sick.
Yikes Bel & Abs, not much of a sleep. I'm really noticing how I miss my sleep now, since starting work & with Holly waking more at night.

Theresa, hmpff, broadband, don't make me jealous, hehe. I used 2 tins S26gold birth+ now on 2nd can Amcal 6mth+ & bought 1can Heinz Nurture but noticed it's cows protein based, others are milk & whey based, haven't opened it yet though. Noticed those 2 other brands, think they were double the price, yikes. Yeah not sure what the cause was, GP thinks maybe from the dribble. She started developing it around time of being fully weaned & just after teething & the shoestring dribbles that come with that. :)

Bel - Gav does that too - looks after charlie on week morning before he goes to work and sometimes like you said itis easier to get up myself than have to keep yelling out what to do - gav is slowly getting better.
Also - Charlie is on the 6 month plus formula - he is now on the heinz nurture. he is going really well on it - he still never has a full bottle but still lasts 4-5 hours without a bottle.

Nickers - Hope the wedding was good - how did Nixon go with the babysitter.

Abs - we had BBQ today - I love the better weather we cook everything on the barbie - I make a salad and gav cooks the meat - its just soo easy!

Charlie said -dadadadadada today - i don't think he knew he was saying it. He has been sleeping really well at night not waking till 6 for the last few nights - don't want to jinx myself!
He has been really grumpy and clingy at the moment - i think he is teething again his cheeks are red and he seems to have a bit of the runs he has done 2 huge poos today.

hehe, Jen said Jordy did the biggest ever this morning - certainly not the smelliest though (phew she said after that). She also reckons he's been doing the dadadadadada thing too, not that I've heard it

Tis back-to-front roll city here now. Its so funny watching him, he still gets his arm stuck for a few moments (the arm he has rolled over on) til he pulls it out and the lifts his chest up. Can't roll back the other way yet though... Also he is pulling, or trying to pull his knees up under him, so goes backwards just a tiny bit - that is til he gives up and puts his cranky pants on


Tis a bewdiful sunny day here in Sydney today - Jen's taken Jordy to one of the shopping centres to get some more curtains... only got vertical blinds downstairs and she wants proper curtains. Looks like I'll be busy tonight

tis a great day here too. i have to finish painting the bathroom.

Charlie and i have just gotten out of bed! he hasn't been fed since 10 last night and he wasn't even crying for it. he has 200ml and only darnk 140ml don't know what is going on with him.

better go have some breaky and mkae charlie some multigrain cereal. he is attacking Elmo as i type.

Hi guys...

Just a wee woohoo from me... Alexa sat up on her own for the first time last night.... I was stoked that Jeff was actually home to see it too......

SHe still only rolls over on occasion & still gets stuck half way LOL...

SHe was weighed last weeks & now weighs 14lb 5 oz or 6.5kg!!!! Not bad for an almost 8 month old LOL... well 6 months old with 8 months experience!!!!!

She is also alot more vocal now too!!!!! And has learnt how to use her voice, dunno if that is a good thing or not though!!!!

Alexa is still waking 1-2 times a night now which sucks, she was sleeping right through.... but alas, I go back to work & the wee toad starts waking again LOL...

Does anyones bubs have any teeth yet? I think alexas are moving, but nothing popping through yet....

Sorry this post was all about us!!!!!... Hope everyone is cruising along nicely....

Also... we always have a fake xmas tree..... I hate cleaning up real ones messes & they make me sneeze LOL

our mothers group is mostly full of boys 5 V 3 & alot of the times there will only be 1 girl amogst the group! so hard to tell development wise between B & G.

the wedding was lovely. Unfortunatley freezing! it was windy & about 10degrees at one stage. he slept through the whole ceremony so didnt have to worry about him crying!
i posted a pic of Nixon in his outfit on his website. this was his christening outfit but we forgot to take a shot of just him. anyway 3 weeks ago that outfit fit well. This time it was getting tight! Mum & dad couldnt beleive how much heavier he felt in just 3 weeks (last time they saw him)
so it was good to have them down for a few days (left thismorning)
the babysitter went well. it did feel a little strange leaving him with a stranger but dh & I both went back once each to check everything was alright! which is was.

WTG Charlie. Jacci, how much does he drink? More or less than his previous formula? Holly takes 180ml about every 4hrs & 1 solids before last bottle at night.
Hmm Holly's poo's have been runny the last wk too, & chkd last night, looks like the 2 top eye teeth are bout to come thru, & 2 front ones are <1mm off. The 2 in between those are a while off but can see them.
Fake tree here Jacci, although haven't set it up for 3yrs, we set it up the 1st xmas we got our kitty & he hearled himself into the middle of it at some decoration that he liked, hehe.

That's great Mitch, Holly would be bout that too now, has been 2wks since her last weigh in. Hehe on the voice, yeah I remember being with my nephew when he was a baby at the supermarket with my sis & he got the squeels up, was kinda embarrasing in a way coz he was so loud & wouldnt stop, hehe. Holly got her 2nd tooth at 6mths & Holly used to sleep thru too but wakes around 4am ish now. :)

Nickers, we had 3girls & 4boys but now have 2girls & 5boys. Other group is 2girls & 2boys. That's great that the wedding went well & Nixon was fine too. Oh what a handsome little man.

So we've got 2 premmie bubs in this thread (Alexa & Nixon) & both are powering, yay.

Oh I c Theresa, wow ur full of handy info huh. Wholly crap on the costs of ur formula.

Holly's getting up on knees a little more & doing a little rock now. Getting better at sitting but still topples if leans sideways.

Shell, that is sooo funny re the kitten ! Our tree is up outta the way for my boys to get to

DJ (Becky23) was also reasonably prem from memory - I can't remember how prem... hang on, no, he was due in the first couple of days of April.


Hmm, questions re volume of feeds... We do 200ml bottles. Can never pick it... the same time of day but different days can be anywhere from under 100ml drunk, to the whole bottle sculled. What I reckon is funny is the way sometimes his eyes roll back when he is still going for it but is sooo tired. Of course he then wakes up whilst I have him sitting up to burp him

It's all good... I love being a dad (bar the 4.30am wakes - but I got to go back to bed around 5.45 and got up again at 8am)

hey just while i was reading the posts i heard on the tele some hospital mixed up babies and a woman breast fed the wrong baby!!! Eissshhh didnt think this was possible to mix up these days, doesnt every baby have 2 tags (one on foot & one of wrist? Nix always had 2 in hospital)
Yeah funny Nixon & Alexa were born about the same gestation too.
Nixon went to bed at like 7pm tonight after his last feed at 5.15pm. so it will be interesting to see how long he lasts (usually his last feed is approx 8pm & he sleeps through the night)

Yup Nic the same gestation, Alexa had IUGR, so that is possibly why she was smaller... than Nixon.... & Another funny thing... we LIVE in MILTON... LOL... that is crazy....

Just thought I'd pop in for a quick hello before I head off for work. oh... I GOT ANOTHER JOB!! I'm so excited. I went for the interview yesterday morning and they called me yesterday afternoon and offered me the job. Only now I have to hand in my notice this morning at work (YIKES!) and madly rush around organising childcare. They want me to start on Monday, which is really soon, but excellent! SO stoked

Fake tree here Jacci. We had to get a new one a couple of years ago coz our kitten jumped into the middle of ours too - and broke it! Not to mention but his teeth through about half the decorations.

I think Josiah has an ear infection - he keeps grabbing his ears. He's not upset when he does it, but it's unusual for him. I'll see how he goes today, and if he's stil doing it, I'll take him to the doc tomorrow.

Anyway, that turned out to be all about me...OOPS, sorry. Hope everyone has a fantastic day.

My dad/grandfathers names are/were Milton, thats where Nixon got it from! And me & nix have same initals NMP.
and boys quiet often are bigger i think too. The whole pg my OB kept saying he was bigger then average so had i have gone full term i may have had a heffa in my arms!
The docs just before delivery said average size for 33weeks was 1.8-2kg, he was nearly 2.3kg so surprised everyone

I was speaking to one of the other guys at work yesterday (as I've mentiond before, I work for an Outsourcing company, he does same thing as me but for different clients). He said he needs to offload a client (I have some spare time on my hands, so said to get his people to speak to my people) but also that they've been in contact with a client in the UK then put in brackets (fancy a trip?)

Who knows, I might get a work trip to the UK - as long as Jen & Jordy can come along - we'll probably offer to pay - she has heaps of friends there, so could probably get free accomodation too, depending on where the client is. Doubt it'd happen, but can always dream :)

well Nixon surprised me and after his last 5.30pm feed he slept till 7am thismorning. he must have been really zonked thats for sure!
he tried banana thismorning and liked that too. havent tried anything he doesnt like yet.
does anyone know if it is ok or not to give them mashed avacado? something i thought he could try but for some reason not sure if its something they should have or not?

Going to catch up on where everyone's at. But have to ask a qsn: does everyone else feel like their babies have suddenly become heaps more tiring? Charlie will not sit still, gets bored really easily now and constantly wants attention. He's become obsessed with wanting me to look at him all the time, too! He is a wiggle bum when he's on my lap, rolls across the room if left on the floor, grabs at anything within reach, which means I can't eat with him on my lap anymore, and throws his body around when I'm carrying him.

It's only been the last week or so, but I'm always exhausted now!

Jen has avocado next on the list to try, so I guess its okay - she researched when certain things should be tried and has dates for when to try certain things... that doesn't have anything against it

Hey Theresa, not sure if its co-incidence or not, but each time I've given Holly apple (4-5times) her excema seems to flare up worse, gave her some last night & it was soooo red at 4am when she woke & felt warm to the touch. She just screams when I put cream on, hates it. Much less red this morning but still think it's spread a tad. Haven't tried anything other than apple & rice cereal, might lay off the apple for a while & try again later. Then again, maybe it is formula, who really knows. Also MIL said her kids all had excema until 1yo.

Abs, a friend has her tree on top of their ent. unit so out of the way of her 2 kids, great idea but think ours is too big. Holly will be crawling by then & her & cat will most likely be into it, gonna be interesting, hehe.

Holly said 'dada' yesterday, DH home from work sick too (cold) so we both heard it through the monitor, hasn't said it again though.

Hello everyone. Sorry I've been MIA but I've been really busy trying to organise this slideshow for my dad's 50th, and I am finally finished it so I will have some more free time to jump on here and be a better cyber buddy.

We went away overnight on Friday night and my mum baby sat Declan, he did really well & slept long for her than he does for me go figure. We had a good night away but I was happy to get home to my boy on Sat arv. We went to the movies, out to dinner & caught up with some friends at the casino.

Declan is sitting up now by himself (gets really floppy when he's tired though) and we have started solids. He is loving it. Its hard to think he'll be 6 months tomorrow (that means we are going to get his vacs done too).

Sorry about the us post but I can smell someone needs a change.

Nickers- Charlie loves Avacado! he hates bananas wont eat them the 3 or 4 times i've tried him on them. Thats good that Nixon is eating whatever he is given.

Shell - Glad your DH was home to hear holly say Dada.

Charlie and i went swimming today, he loved it - we are on our third lesson - you put his head under the water and when you pull him out he giggles - it is soo cute!

Amy... Sounds like you have been busy, and happy 6 month bday to declan.

Jacci... Abbey still looks surprised when she goes under the water, but is starting to like it more. And we have a fake tree here,less mess,but we used to get real ones when we were kids, it was fun going to pick it.

Shell... Apple is one of the safe foods on the list I have, but it could be what is causing it, but it could be just food in general, the nurse warned that Abbey would probably have a flare up when we started solids. I would also look at trying a different cream if she screams when you put it on. Abbey gets grumpy after a while when i am putting cream on, but not like she is in pain. I had to keep trying different creams until we found one that worked for her. I would also give a cortisone cream a try,in the long run I have ended up putting heaps lessof that cream on her then others because it works that much better. We are using a sigmacort ointment atm. oh and Yay! on holly saying dada

Sush... I so know what you mean. Abbey is being so exhausting atm too. I just can't leave her alone or she gets into mischeif. We arelooking into getting her a playpen.

Quick update on us: Abbey had her first official swimming lesson this morning which went really well. She was the youngest there, but still had lots of fun. We also had her 6 month checkup. She is now 6.72kg, 64.5cm long, HC of 42.8cm. She has only put on 400g in 2 months but the nurse isn't too worried, she was good with us not starting solids yet and gave us a heap of info on introducing solids to babies who may be prone to allergies. We are going to be starting solids in the next week or two. She still is getting up on her hands and knees and hands and feet but can't quite work out how to move forward. She can sit up for ages, unless she tries to reach too far.

There was a little girl at raquet ball today - she would be about the same age as Abs & Jens - Jordy. She was up and crawling around everywere - she looked soo little to be doing it. She tried to attack charlie, she was a really trying hard to get him. Can't believe how young some of them crawl!

Well my two favourite people are asleep on the couch so i might go put the little one to bed and the older one can stay there! means i'll get more room!!!

I will be off line for a few days after thursday - Were polishing the floor boards this weekend!!! YEAH YEAH YEAH - looks horrible without them done. atleast when charlie crawls he won't get big splinters!

Thnx Amanda, well today is the first day I've been able to rub cream in several times a day without her screaming. Appears to have improved too. I didn't feed her any solids last night, but a little pumpkin tonight. It is much less red today & looks like it might be on the mend, yay. Also cold seems to be on the way out, didnt go to work/childcare today & glad coz we've both recovered a bit more. We'd like to get a playpen too. Holly's been getting up on hands/knees several times/day now so dont think it'll be long here either. :)

Sorry I have been MIA for a while, I had Tyron's naming ceremony on Sunday and Mum was here from Kalgoorlie, than my car got broken into and I had left my purse in it (which I never do!!) so I have been running around trying to get new cards etc..

my gf had twin girls yesterday! We are going to visit this afternoon. It will be funny seeing how little they are because one was (Gemma)5p 13 & the other (Teagan)4p 15 so the smaller is samish size to Nixon. i havent gotten to visit a mum & bub in hosp for a very long time due to either being away at the time, in hosp myself, or another state!

I cheated LOL... I popped mine out early..... So I am looking forward to 3 times as many stretch marks & 3 dress size changes.... LOL... But I could stilll do with losing 5-10kg!!!! Mostly from my butt... damn thing got bigger but not my boobs & i was all set to finally get clevage LOL.... ah well... have to save for a boob job instead!!!

Not much going on here other than the roll monster can still only go from back to front and then gets upset coz he can't do anything more, oh and he's getting better at sitting up. Not there yet but shouldn't be too far off

One of the bubs from Parents group yesterday (the oldest of the group) was fully sitting up on her own. Sooo cute - Alex was looking around all on her own


Oh feedback on that UK Position - they are looking for someone for 3-6 months, though the 3 of us they'd potentially choose from all reckon a couple of weeks tops is probably better, can organise the rest via teleconferencing. I'm the least busy out of the three of us, so who knows :D
