Seems it might get lost int he other thread. With FOE which side should be out? The softest side or the braided side?
-
stupid question..what the hell is FOE (runs ducking for cover)
-
FOE is fold over elastic!!!! like whats around BBH covers
-
I would have thought the soft side would be out if thats the part thats potentially touching the baby's skin? But thats just a guess, I haven't started yet!
-
yeah thats the way i did the 2 i have made. but it snags on the sewing machine & velcro....
-
I haven't used it FJ so not sure about that one. I agree with rayray though the smooth side should touch bubba. Did you email the store to ask about why it came in single lengths? I meant to ask that over there. It does seem a bit odd that it came like that.
-
Yeah I sent an email earlier. The worst bit was that I didn't realise because each end was taped together. I did notice the tape but I thought it was just the end of the bit to stop it from unwinding in the post or something.
-
OK pg brain kicked in....Ive got that elastic here somewere?????????
-
FJ - if you're always getting snagged then I say you need new ball point needles? If you're using them. That's what happens to me anyway. Apparantly you get about 5 hours of sewing time out of each needle.
-
For those that are interested in the little additions dirt cheap microfleece coop:
It looks like we are going to go with the white Africa, planes and hand and feet microfleece as they seem to be the most popular with the majority....if anyone wants to help fill the rolls please pm or email me or post how much you would like...I need to know asap so I can get it at the dirt cheap $4.50 price.
Piccies are on my website in Melanie's album/little additions
-
Are you using a stretch needle FJ......you need what is called a ball point needle ordinary sewing needles are too sharp at the points and will snag most of those sorts of elastics no matter what way you have it. You can get them at spotlight or whatever
-
No its not snagging on the needle its snagging on the deet on the bottom, you know the thing that walks the material...
-
Ah okay it is snagging on the feed dogs. You could put some lunch wrap paper on the bottom of what you are sewing that is closest to the feed dogs and then you just rip it off when you have finished sewing...that trick is great for shiny fabrics that slip too.
-
Ahhhh good idea. Feed Dogs, is that what they are called? LOL
-
Feed dogs ROFL! I just call them the grabby things ;)
-
grabby things LOL. They are the dobby wacky things here LOL.
-
ROFPMSL you guys crack me up!!!
-
Haha, I knew they were called feed dogs, but only cos I was totally lost the first time I cracked open the sewing machine - so foriegn to me, and I read it in the instruction book.
Mel, I'll just figure out how much I microfleece I need, and oh...it's Friday tomorrow, hey. Okay, if I don't get back to you tonight, it'll be tomorrow.
-
Hey guess what I've just discovered......wildchildnappies are almost up and running with the PUL laminating service :D Big day tomorrow!
Finally I'm so happy to know we have an option to have stuff laminated over here now. I'll have my eyes peeled for some way cool fabric to send off to them now. But my happiness is short lived because I wish I wasn't broke ATM :(
-
oh oh oh oh oh oh...where where where.........I'm off..catch ya later!!!!
-
Mmm, was just having me a looksee before :p Could be a very fun thing hey!
-
Mel, I have PM'd you regarding the fleece :)
-
Double posting cos I am not sure where everyone is lurking today...hehe:
Yay...I can finally get on to BB....gavent been able to get in all day finally resorted to rebooting the modem and whadya know it worked!!
I have ordered the little additions fleece today and she will let me know early next week when the order has been put together - it is a huge mother of a warehouse so they have to get the forklifts about etc so couldn't do it on the spot. But it is on its way...woohoo!!
CC I don't know if you are a member of the THis-end-up coop but she has contacted her fleece manufacturer and sent a sample of the windpro and they have said they can duplicate the product with the DWR coating. To get them to do a mill run she has to order 100yards so if you are interested go have a look...it will be $5.50/yard US
Apparently MM is still going under its new owners but it looks like no more small fry sales only for the big boys who order truckloads at a time.:(
Oh and wild child nappies look so funky with their new site they had over 400 shoppers at opening time tonight!!!
-
Wowee! That's a LOT of shoppers Mel!
I emailed you (twice now, but you must have missed the first one, perhaps check your junk?) but incase you check this, I wanted 5m of Planes and 2m of Africa, if that's okay!
-
Thanks Nelle...my puter has been severely shaped cos we've downloaded too much telly junk!!! Even my emails are on a go slow...I can see your email in the queue I just can't get it till it comes thru...sooo frustrating...I wonder if we paid the internet bill this month :dunno:
-
No worries, well now that I know that, I'll PM you from now on! :p
Why are we still both up? One firm smack each. I'm hungry, actually.
I recently got back from youth group, was a music night, and my turn to organise, had a whole stack of fun, we had guest guitarists in and I played too and each group made up songs. And then after most people had gone, my mate played me some of the songs he's working on for his piano exam (he's doing, grade one million or something). Was really relaxing.
And now I'm hungry...think I've got some turkish bread and basil, cashew and parmesan dip somewhere...mmm...
-
Yummo..I am still up cos I am browsing the net trying to find a template for my webstore or ideas to make one...I really don't have the skills to start from scratch but the peoples out there want an arm and a leg and your first born child for one!!!
As for food plain old packet of savoys here...not even any decent toppings in the fridge.
-
Mel - i emailed you too honey. I hope you go it or will get it soon ;)
I'll be lurking as Ive been going in and out of hospital. My dad is in intensive care ATM so lifes pretty frazled my end.
I might have to make him some PF booties to keep his feet warm
-

I found a lady on NC who lives 30 mins away from me who let me come over & use her Snap press & some of her snaps. I am going to make her a nappy cover to say thanks.
DH is happy for me to get one now that he has seen what it is. But I have to wait till he gets back from cairns. Have a look on my blog at my latest covers. I am going to make another in the purple & black print for the lovelly lady who let me come use her press.
-
Maz I got your pm about the microfleece...is that what you meant?...no email has come through from you though. That was so nice of th elady to let you use her press FJ and sweet of you to make her a cover...I was going to offer mine but I don't have inspector gadget arms to get it to you!!
Maz honey I will send up a prayer for your daddy at this hard time.
-
Yeah Maz offered too but seems this lady is basically up the road...
-
Well done FJ! I saw that skull fleece and was very tempted but I have enough stuff here to open up a shop just about ;) Did you make it with 2 layers of fleece?
-
No all of those I did with a PUL backing. A bit of a waste of the fleece i know but I couldn't find any poly print that I liked.
-
I had a chuckle at you saying you had enough stuff to almost open a shop Sammi :p
-
i thought you could just use fleece as a cover without PUL?
mmmm sammi may just have to bring my shopping trolley over toyour house ;)
-
YEah you can with 2 layers of Polar fleece or I think just 1 of MM fleece but like I said I couldn't find any poly prints that I liked & I wanted to cover the PUL.
-
If you think Sammi has alot of stuff you don't want to see mine...my fabric actually comes on bolts!!!!
-
PMSL Mel! Hey did I miss the boat with the microfleece?
I kinda realised I forgot to PM you sorry :(
