oh my I've never been first before
nicki, lol at the 1 month birtday party, not sad though. I won't be surprised if i dont buy xavier a present.
I would kill for a bath. but, and this might sound strange I wouldn't be able to cope if I changed the colour of the water, it would freak me out. I waiting until the loss is gone.
Veronica in some waysI hope it isn't reflux, and then in others I hope it is so that maybe you can end avaleigh's pain.
yeah the 8 hours was nice, perhaps i should have gone to bed at 6 pm too!! last night was better, went to bed later, but there is something aout 2-4am, that he thinks he should be awake. this must have been play time when he was still on the inside. I don't know how you guys that are up all night cope, i'm going mental after an hour!! Doesn't help our house is cold.
Well is everyone having a good weekend? we have great nana's 80th birthday tonight, and pa is coming to visit tonorrow, so we are just starting on our busy time, lots happening over the next few months.
this is going to be a whirlwind 5 months until I have to go back to work.

Hi girls!
Long time no write!
Just popping in to see how everyone is! I am reluctant to say, but I THINK we have a little routine going- don't want to get too excited, but the last week has been pretty good- amelie has been having a feed around 9 or 10pm, then one more during the night and this is the good bit- we're back in bed 1-1.5 hours later! Her awake time now seems to have swapped to during the late afternoon. It is just fabulous - I hope we can keep this up! I didn'y know whether to believe in the magic 6 week mark (everyone tells me things will be more settled by then), but now I'm thinking they're right! Fingers crossed that we can keep this up.
Have been out a few times to the shops - still haven't breastfed in public - I'm not sure how we'd go- feeding is a pretty messy occasion for us - both with Amelie deciding to either vomit or carry on and my boobs that either spray or leak all over me if she stops to catch her breath!
We have a 30th birthday this afternoon- Amelie is coming with us. It is at a house, so we'll be fine, but I'm still a bit nervous about having to feed there. May decide to go out to the car.
Amelie is still stacking on the weight, we have no problems there- she is now 5.2kg! We had a midwife visit on Thursday which confirmed that everything is going well. I forgot to get someone to look at my c-section scar, though. Will have to remember this week. We have our last midwife appointment this week, but I can't remember whether she said Thursday or Friday - LOL I would forget my head if it wasn't screwed on - can't blame preggy brain now can I?! We also have our 6 week GP check up on Friday afternoon and then hopefully I will be given the all clear to drive- hallelujah!!
Well, it was great reading all of your posts- far too many to respond to, but I am thinking of you all!

Rebecca I love my baths.
My 'loss' has pretty much been gone for a bit over a week. Only very very very light. Although I am not enjoying going to the loo. I wont go into details!
Been out and about all day. We got a 4 hour stint of sleep last night I was so proud of my little boy!
Heres hoping tonight can be the same!
Well I'm stuffed. Waiting for lach to wake for a feed, adn then im going to bed.
have a good night all:)
-
Good evening everyone! Hope you're all having a good weekend (admittedly though, every day feels the same to me at the moment). Today has been a good day...Alessia decided that she didn't want to fall asleep this afternoon unless I held her...but once she was dead to the world, I popped her in the cot and she didn't wake for almost 5 hours! I had to stir her for her next feed!
Feeding is going as well as it can be I guess...I'm slightly concerned that the number of feeds has decreased quite a bit (9-11 feeds for the first few days to now 6) but she's still pooping and weeing and not screaming for more, so I guess that's just what Alessia wants for now.
Now for a Q...might be a little bit too much TMI, but I had an episiotomy and consequently some lovely stitches which have made my poor nether regions quite tender...when does this stop? It has been getting slightly less tender as the days pass, but I'd love to be able to go to the loo a little more comfortably! *lol*
Anyways, time to feed myself - my appetite has decreased something shocking so I've got David cooking up an omelette for me :)
Take care everyone...bubba cuddles to all!

Hi everyone.
Well we had our first big social outing today- A wedding!!! it was a casual affair, but was the first time I had to feed in public, no dramas- i just went inside the house and fed on the lounge (everyone else was outside).
It was nice- there were anther newborn - he was 6 weeks old, but 5 weeks premmie, so technically was a week old if you know what I mean!!! The mother and I got chatting, and we will get together in a week or so, as we both dont know much about being mummas, so should be good.
I am buggered. just waiting for Kaetlyn to fall asleep in the cot then its off to bed for me. Aaron is already there- Its a sat night and he was in bed at 9!!
Fran- I know what you mean about the appetite- I only ever seem to be hungry at 2am- its got something to do with the sleep deprivation, when you are tired, you dont want to eat.
Re stittches- I cant see from your ticker as they arnt working how old Alessia is, but my stitches were quite tender for a while. I found wearing pads helped- like coushining sort off- although some people find it makes it worse. I am now 4 weeks post partum, and they have healed really well, so will be able to DTD pretty soon. Sorry for the details.
Well the princess is asleep now, so will hed to bed myself!!!
Night night

Hi everyone
Fran - I love your photos. Alessia is gorgeous! Lol - she is nearly as big at birth as Diana is at two months! Re episiotomy - I also had one and found that although the pain went down dramatically after the first week, it took another 2-3 before I was properly comfortable. Even after that I would occassionally get a twinge if I did something such as get out of the car in a weird way. Sorry, that's probably not what you wanted to hear...
Star - congratulations on Amelie's weight gain. It's so exciting to see out bubs grow, isn't it? Diana has gone up a size in clothes last week (0000 to 000) as well as going from newborn to infant nappies. :)
I've had a pretty crappy week - Diana is doing really well, but the sleep deprivation seems to have really hit me. I am so tired. On Thursday evening I nearly fell asleep in my lecture. To top it all off, I lost my keys this afternoon. Diana and I went to the shops and halfway there I realised my keys weren't my my bag. I re-traced my steps about 3 times, but couldn't find them. I rang my sister to let me into my apartment (se had a spare key), hoping that I had simply locked myself out, but no, my keys are gone. I had my car key and work key on the keyring too, so am really annoyed. I hope it's not too much trouble to replace them all.
On a more positive note, I had a friend over for coffee today and she brought her two year old son with her. She was most impressed seeing Diana wee in the potty as apparently her toddler is not much interested in getting out of nappies.

Morning everyone!
We had our first social outing last night as well! We went to a friends 40th and everything ooo'ed and ahhh'ed over how cute Avaleigh is! She was absolutely perfect in her pram and slept the whole time we were out. What a good little girl!! I even managed to sleep in my own bed last night too!! It was good to get off the couch..
Well on the reflux front, hopefully I will get it comfirmed that it is or isnt this week and we can get Avaleigh on to something to help it! If it is reflux then Avaleigh really is such a good girl and she is happy for most of the day. She actually was a little better yesterday...
Fran - the pain from your 'wound' will go away soon! I agree with Sara that wearing pads, especially the kotex maternity pads, were the best because there was cushioning. And I wopuldnt worry too much about the decrease in feeds, she is doing great and the milk is probably filling her little tummy!!
Hmm thinking about decrease in feeds... Avaleigh has definitely decreased how long she feeds for. Maybe she is on damage control because of the pain in her gut?? Too bad about the pain in my boobs!! lol She is not emptying them like she used to..
Anyways, better be off and get my house in order as a friend is coming over today.
-
Hi guys, can I join in here? Just trying to sort my life out after the shock of having 2 children now! Can't promise I'll be all that regular in posting (it's not always easy to find time to turn on the computer!), but I'll try my hardest!
-
Hi ..
Hows everyone doing? (Sorry its been so long between posts). I've been extra busy the last few weeks not only with Jordan but we've had lots of landscaping projects on the go and our family have just left after a short holiday with us... (now I need a holiday. lol)
Someone asked about co-sleeping several days back regarding whether it makes babies clingy/more demanding when they get older. Personally, I don't think so. I haven't experienced a problem. I think that being comforted makes babies feel secure.
The first 12 weeks will fly by! Try not to over-analize your parenting and just cherish every moment. It will be gone before you know it. (Babies aren't manipulative by nature. They do have individual perosnalities and temperments though - so just go with what ever works!
Our babies will be 6 months old before we know it. (Thats around the time when I start making sure my baby doesn't maniputlate me). Luckily at around that time they will start eating solids which helps them to sleep more soundly and need less breastfeeds at night. That also tends to be when they become less clingy and less 'mummy dependent'.
One thing that makes co-sleeping much easier is a KING size bed. that way there is plenty of room for the 3 of us. My husband likes to put a pillow between him and the baby. (not touching the baby but just as a barrier, and just below the babies waist level so that the pillow doesn't come near his head.
And to try and describe 'how' I lay - I simply lay on my side using one arm as a barrier. When I feed on the left side (near the edge of the bed), I move closer into the centre of the bed leaving around 30cm between the edge and the baby.
Jordans feeds have decreased a bit too.
Well, I better go start some dinner.
xo Dee.

Hi all,
lol i feel like we have had nothing but outings.
Fran, the stitches, I had 2nd degree tear, so i don't know if that makes a differnece, but I didn't really have much pain at all. I think it only lasted a few days though. This is what i did to help, maybe it will help you.
I only drank water for the first week, no juice, cordial, softdrink, nothing except water. or the ph is too high and it stings. I had 2 showers per day. to dry the area I used and ordinary pad to just soak up any moisture while I dried the rest of me. I only pat dry after the toilet.
I too continued using maternity pads for comfort, and then switched to a soft pad after that, not ultrathins. on number 2s, 'cause that is a whole nother issue, the midwives told me to cover the area with the stitches when i went. I also tried to do this just before a shower, I also made sure I ate lots of whole grains, weet bix, and fruit in the first week as well.
tmi, but I've even used a mirror and checked out how they are healing, and i can't even see the stitches!! or any scaring iykwim.
Don't know if that will help??
nicki, I hope my loss goes soon. I'm doubtfull though, 'cause i normally have heavy periods.
Star, yay on possible routine. I hope it starts to stick for you.
Dee thanks for answering about the co-sleeping. I keep meaning to ask how you went this time with feeding because you were worried about the pain of the contracting. I noticed I could feel period pains in the first week of feeding, and they were uncomfortable but not too harsh, but all I could do was think of you, and how painfull you had said they get after a few kids. I hope it wasn't too bad for you.

ARGGGGGGGGGGGGH!!
Avaleigh is doing my head in tonight. She is really really bad and all she is doing is screaming and wanting a feed but I dont want to give her a feed cause its going to hurt her little tummy. I am nearly in tears too cause I know its going to be a long night! And to make things worse, Jason thinks he is getting the flu and doesnt want to get too close to Avaleigh so its all me tonight......
-
oh Veronica, I hope your night wasn't as bad as you though it was going to be:(
Hugs.
Hi Sportychick and welcome!!!
In regards to stitches, Mine stopped stinging around about the week mark, although they only stung very rarely, adn I never had any stinging passing urine..... They were mega itchy though for about a week... thankgoodness that is ver with now, the stinging was much more bearable!! I am really worried about them bursting. I am not game enough to have a look or a feel to see how things are going though! I will wait till my 6 week check up, give my GP something to do! hehe
I am using a pad everytime I need to go for number 2's.... I have this horrible image of everything re tearing.... eeek.
My appetite is pretty normal, I guess I am a little hungrier than when I was preggers. But my thirst has increased something shocking!
I am needing to drink a whole 750ml bottle of water at just about every feed. I am finding nothing else quenches my thirst, and boy am I thirsty!!!
Well, the boobies are starting to settle down a little. I am not squirting poor Lach as often, but I did notice that I had 7 diff sprays coming out of one nipple yesterday!! lmao
We're starting to get into a routine now, and Lach is only really waking up twice a night for feeds, which is really good. Its so hard to try and get him to self settle at night, specially when u know u have finished feeding and changing and you know he wants nothing more than sleep, so all you want to do is go to sleep.
On the self settling front, I am doing the following:
Put Lach to bed, he usually cries... so I give him 2 mins, go back in replace his dummy, pat him on the tummy and tell him shhh its sleepy time now, and then walk out.
He is usually quiet for a few mins, an then loses his dummy. STarts crying again, so I give it 3 mins this time, then go back in replace his dummy, pat his chest and say "shhhh", then leave.
I keep upping the interval a minute or 2 every time, but from the third time onwards, I say nothing to him just pat him and replace his dummy.
I find that betweeen 20 mins and half hour of this is what is needed to get him to sleep on his own. Thats from wide awake. If he sounds like the worlds about to end though, we always make sure we go in and check on him. Some of those cries are just scary!!!! I hate leaving him to cry even for 2 mins on his own, but I figure if I dont start trying to teach him now, he'll be 4 years old and needing to be rocked to sleep... my poor arms then!! hehe
Anyway, I'm going to head back to bed myself. Someone has self settled after only ONE try!!! must be tired! hehe
Have a good day girls! I'll probably pop in later:)
Hugs
-
hugs veronica. the midwives told me that sometimes especially in the evening bubs will cluster feed because there isn't enough fat in the milk??
Xavier does this it seems every second day. Last night, to combat this, I was naughty and expressed ('cause we were going out for tea) when he cluster feeds, he is just so all over the shop, or booby as it where and can't make up his mind what he's doing. I also ended up expressing between him going to bed and getting up for his next feed, and we had a good 5 hours between night feed and morning. He slept 9.30-1.00 then was feeding and awake until 2.30 then slept till 7.30.
Nicki, I don't think you will burst your stitches. They may even be gone by now. TMI, but all my swelling has gone, and I think the stitches might have dissolved too.
I hear you on the thirsty front though. I'm a bit naughtier than you and forget to drink water.
Yay that Lachlan is falling into a routine so easily!! I think I'll wait until xavier is at least a month old to do anything too regimented. Also by then, I know we won't have heaps of visitors during the day, and no one will think I'm bad for letting him squawk for a min to get to sleep.
I already have to stop nathan from getting up at the tiniest grunt. I have a small little rule for myself if there is only one isolated waa, I don't get up until there are at least 2 in succession.
-
hehe Adam always gets up, and goes striahgt to the little guy!! hehe
I am finding it sooo hard to let him cry. If it takes longer than about 20 mins to settle him, i usually pull the pin.... hehe
He seems to be doing really well, and I dont think it hurts him to have a little cry, especially when I'm pretty sure that hes fine, and just tired.
I am hanging out for my 6 week checkup.... I wanna start playing netball again!!!
Also gonna head ot weight watchers once my breastmilk has completely settled and worked itself out.
This appointment is gonna be huge... maybe I should call the doc now and tell him to reserve half a day for me!!! hehe
He'll be really excited to see the little one too... lol
-
Hi All,
We have just come back from our visit with my doctor. He says that it is reflux but says Avaleigh is too young to be giving any medication yet - which I am OK with that. He checked her over and said that she is really healthy and has told me to breastfeed while I am laying on my back and Avaleigh is laying on top of me. So this way she would be working harder for her feed and wont get so much wind in her. So pretty much we gotta keep doing what we are doing and if things dont improve by our 6 wk check up, I will be asking to see a paed.
-
Hi girls
I have been keeping up with what has been going on but can never seem to find the time to post.
Not much new here. Charlotte has been doing really well. She has been having a few 10pm - 4am sleeps so hopefully these start to become more regular. If she doesnt sleep until 4 am she wakes somewhere between 2am and 4am so I cant complain. Her thrush n her mouth seems to be nearly gone which is gret so she is feeding better now.
V - hugs to you. It is really tough when your baby wont settle and you dont know what is wrong or what to do. Jesse (our second) was just like this - we tried so many different things and we ended up seeing the paed again along with child and youth health and I did a day settling school - which was helpful as it reiterated some of the things I was doing and gave me a bit of confidence again - although most of our issues were at night so I would have preferred to do a night sleep school. We were also put on refulx meds but I dont really think this was the issue as well as a special formula for allergies. But what I can tell you is it didnt last forever and we got through it although it was very tough at the time. One thing I can say is that it got me really really down and this is probably something that you should watch - I ended up going to my GP and speaking to her about it and was then referred to someone else to talk to. Have you had any luck with the magic juice stuff from the chemist in Perth - I think I can remember you saying you got some? I wish I could be more help.
Hello and welcome sportchick - glad to have you jump on board.
Nicky - sounds like you and Lach are doing really really well. Good on you for wanting to get back into netball - I need to get into gear and start doing some serious exercise.
Rebecca - re your question about possibly coming across my friend at the Bendigo hospital - she works in the intensive care unit. I like your idea about not getting up until at least 2 waa's!!
ZOfia - bummer about losing the keys. I dont know how you do it all - work, study and a new baby - you are amazing!!
Dee - I hear you on the king size bed - I wouldnt cope without one!
Hi to everyone else. Hope you are all doing well. SOrry for lack of personals - things are just rather busy at the moment.
Take care
jem
-
Nicki, you do sound like you guys are cruising along. good job, does this mean you forgive him for keeping you waiting for so long to meet him.
Veronica, how do you go lying down and feeding? Late at night, I've considered giving it a bash, just 'cause my head is tired and wants to plop down, but I would have no idea how to go about it.
Jemima, I hope I never have to meet your friend, if she's in intensive care. iykwim. and yeah i think 2 is about my limit atm, 'cause I've found that if he's really struggling, like we have been in the car going home, and he'll be starving, the crying really starts to get to me, and I start feeling sad, 'cause I can't fix the problem. must be hormones.
How is everyone else going? I must have no life, 'cause I seem to have more time to get on here now, than I did before xaviers arrival
-
Rebecca - I love lying down and feeding - it is so much more relaxing so I try and do it whenever I can. I just lie on my side and charlotte lies on her side and latches on. I also found that feeding Jesse like this (who was a nightmare feeder) was a lot easier - he seemed to find it easier to cope with the fast milk supply I had going on.
-
Hi everyone.
Yeah for netball- twilight starts here in a month or two, so am playing that. Missed out on this years winter comp :( casue by 6 weeks post pg the comp will have finished.
I really want to frrd laying down on my side to, but have tried it a couple of times and found it uncofortable, will keep trying though- I cant seem to find anywhere to put my arm that I am laying on.
Sporty chick- welcome- I saw that you were going to go to the meet up at fairfield as well. soory you cant make it- would have been good to meet with someone with the same age bubba.
Today is Kaetlyns 1 month birthday- and I have spent it...... in my pj's:cry: We had such a busy weekend that I had really bad headaches from lack of sleep- so said to aaron today- today is my rest day- hes made me breakky, lunch and prob dinner. I went to watch a movie on foxtel, but fell alseep, and had another big nap while kaetlyn was asleep in her rocker beside me. Ohhh i am really going to miss him when he goes back to work next week  not sure what I will do- will be good to get myself into a little bit of a routine though.
Rebecca-maybe we should organise a chat catchup -like the good old times just before the bubbas all arrived!!! woould be fun.
Have to go- someone is stirring for a feed....
Oh and to rub things in Kaetlyn sleept from 10.30 until 4 am this morning and her last feed beofre that was 8.30!!! I was impressed, but had to wake her up cause I thought my boobies were going to explode!!!! TMI of spilt milk everywhere!!!
-
Well, so far today, I have been logged onto the live chat for most of the arvo, since my mum left at 2 and nathan went back to work at 2.30.
I even fed xavier while chatting, one handed of course.
-
Rebecca - Pretty much I just layed on my back and put Avaleigh's tummy against my tummy. Latching on was a little more difficult but I just lifted Avaleigh's body up and then back down to get her to latch on - she is pretty good at latching on by herself!! I first had her body in a straight line with mine but found I was supporting her tummy and probably squashing the lil thing! So I moved her so she was kinda diagonal across my body, this way I just had to support her head cause as she got sleepy, her head was pulling my nipple down!
I got some really good burps out of Avaleigh feeding her that way, but they were followed by her milk!! So it was kinda messy and she still came off screaming but she has been asleep now for 2 hrs! Not to most settled sleep as she keeps on stirring but she is getting some rest.
Jem - yeh I found myself a bit down yesterday and was nearly in tears but I called my mum up and spoke to her and felt better. I jsut got to remember that if I am down then I have to talk to someone or even just leave Avaleigh with my mum so I can have a bit of time to myself. And yes, we have been using the magic juice. She's been on it for 2 weeks I think and it has helped with the burping and I hope that the nice peppermint flavour hopes settle her tummy too.
Sportychick - Welcome to the thread!!
Well I have gotten my dinner ready for tonight. We are having chicken with chese and ham in the middle with potato bake. I've decided that it would be best for us if I made dinner that could be prepared earlier and then just thrown in the oven when we were ready to eat cause I got no idea how the evenings are going to be.
How's everyone's tummy going??? I was laying on the floor yesterday and poking my tummy and it is soooo flabby! And then Jason came over and starting poking me and making my belly wobble and I laughed sooo hard!! And the fact that my bely was wobbling made me laugh even more!!
Jason is feeling pretty sorry for himself because he is sick and he doesnt want to go any where near Avaleigh. He was watching me earlier while I was holding Avaleigh after a feed and he said he wishes he could hold her!! I said, YES I wish you could too!
-
Sorry for the selfish post, but we've had a terrible day. Alessia has refused my breasts...I'm devastated :(
-
Well finally i have found you all here !! its been a full on couple of weeks !
So glad to read that most of you are going well... and our babies are all thriving
Fran ... *hugs* i saw your other post and didnt really have anything to add to the advise you have been given but i can only imagine how awful that must be for you . I hope that Alessia starts attaching again soon for you. BTW your princess is gorgeous.
things are going really well with Kai . to be honest i am having more probs with luke being out of sorts and now sick ! he has a temp and cold and is miserable.
I have the sore throat too so am just hoping that Kai avoids it all !!
He is waking 1 or 2 times during the night for feeds and settles ok usually ... wth a bit of effort.
During the day he is a feeding machine and is putting on weight like you wouldnt believe. Shane called him Kai the Pork Pie before LOL
But after the feeding issues i had with luke i am feeling so happy with the way its going with him.
Not sure if i actually belong in this thread being that Kai was born in August but i am sure i can still post here ?
Hope you are all well and will have to find time to read back and see how everyone is going.
-
Oh Fran HUGS!!!! sorry ur having probs... hopefully everything settels down adn she jumps back on in no time!!
HI to everyone else!!!
My little boy has been sooooo good today, so I'll probably have a bad night tonight! lol
Here's to lots of sleep for you all!
Hugs
-
*hugs* Fran - I hope Alessia is just having ann off day and will soon go back to breastfeeding.
Jane - you sure do belong here so dont go any where!! We spent the last 9 months together so we are now going to spend our babies lives together! :)
Well Avaleigh has just spent the last few hours crying and screaming and has just settled and gone to sleep on my chest. I probably caused her her pain tho cause she wanted a feed when dinner was ready, so I fed her but didnt do our usual sit still in one place for 30 mins. Wont be doing that again!
-
Hugs, fran, I know everything will be alright. good luck and we are always here there is no such thing as a selfish post
varonica, it's great that the feeding laying down is working for you. hmm, might have to try that. I tried the other way on our sides last night, 'cause i was so tired i just needed to lay down. semi successful.
jane, i am sticking around in here. but i do also drop into the august thread
nicki, xavier was really good yesterday, last night was hard, i hope you had a better one.
i hope everyone else is hanging in there.
well happy birthday to me i have a fidgety baby!
I was kind of hoping that he might give me a smile for my birthday, but all I'm getting is pooey nappies
might head off for a walk, as it's a nice day!
-
Happy Birthday Rebecca!!!! Hope you're having a great day and that Xavier gives you a little smile, even if it's because he has wind! *hehe*
Veronica, sounds like you're having a tough time of it, but you're being the best mummy to Avaleigh that you can. That is what I have to keep telling myself with Alessia. It's just tough when our bubs can't speak to us huh? *hugs*
Nicky, lucky you for Lachlan behaving like a little prince! I know that if Alessia sleeps well during the day, we're in for a shocker at night!
Jane, you definitely belong here!!!! *lol* Cos if you don't, neither do I!!! I hope Luke gets better soon!
Well, my breastfeeding journey with Alessia is all over the place. She took a boob at her last feed which is great, but I know it's just the beginning. Hopefully she'll continue to feed like she has been doing previously. Pumping every 3 hours, then taking 1 hour to feed via syringe is tiring :(
-
thanks fran. your right that one boobie feed is just the beginning, it's the beginning of heaps more!! your doing a great job!!
i get heaps of the windy smiles I want a real one
well our walk took us all the way to the shops, where we stoped at pumpkin patch, and i bought him a present. tell you what i'm buggered after the walk
-
Fran- can you express and use a bottle rather than a syringe? My DH gave Sebastian a bottle of expressed milk when he was 1 week old because I had some evening work for a couple of hours. He fed really happily from the bottle. It may help you with top ups etc to give it from a bottle until she will take the breast again?

I have noticed that my milk has setteled alot! Still a little squirty but nothing compared to what it has been. Hopefully it has all sorted out very very soon.

Hi girls
Just a quick one from me.
Happy birthday Rebecca. Hope you had a lovely day!
Fran - thinking of you and I hope Alessia is back on the boob. Hang in there sounds like things re on the improve.
Me - not much to report. Oliver and Jesse were in child care today so it was a lovely, quiet day. I finally got all the photos printed off from when Charlotte was born which was an achievement!! Now I just have to put them in an album - who knows how long it will be until I get around to that LOL!!!
I had best run as all saints in on and I need to vege out for a while. BTW I weighed myself this morning and gee wizz I have to get into gear and do some exercise. I dont have heaps to lose but I definitely weighed more than I thought I would, so hopefully the weigh in was enough to give me a bit of motivation. I wont hold my breath though LOL!!
Best run. Take care everyone

Hi everyone
Happy Birthday Rebecca! I hope you're having a good one.
Fran - I hope that you and Alessia get the breastfeeding happening again. :)
Jane - I am sticking around here and Diana is a June bub, so you should definitely stay too.
Hi to everyone else. Hope you are having a good evening.
I sometimes feed lying down on my side as well. I put the arm that I am resting on under a pillow and put my head on the pillow. I doesn't usually get too uncomfortable.
Diana was a bit challenging this evening. She has been quite unsettled. It seemed that she wanted to feed, but wasn't too interested in the breast and would just play with it. Every time I put her down she would start squirming and crying within a few minutes. I finally put her in the Baby Bjorn carrier and proceeded to heat up some EBM, so that she could drink from the bottle as my breasts had had it... But when the milk was heated and I gave it to her she didn't want it! :wall: I put her back in the carrier and did some housework and finally she fell asleep. She awoke just recently and thankfully wanted the bottle. She's crying again now, so I am off to change her nappy. She is still weeing in the potty and getting better at it, e.g. she often cries when I hold her over it, until she starts weeing, then calms down. Amazing. She's so clever.
Good night everyone. :)

OK, I am back now after a pretty hard core week woth sickies in the house & Zyons screaming non stop for 5 days...
Seems we got into a bad cycle of feeding him on top of painful wind causing more pain etc, etc & so the rollercoaster just continued! As he was getting so much Foremilk it was passing through his system too fast & causing acidic reaction in his gut & therefore acid poo which in turn blistered his butt!
I had his MCHN check up yesterday & in 11 days he gained 540g, so he is getting plenty of the good stuff, as my supply was so strong & fast it also caused him to take in air which made for painful tummy!
So I have stopped feeding every time he screamed & proceeded to burp him or bike pedal his little legs & the last 3 nights he has slept 5ish hours & then 4hours between feeds, but last night he slept in his hammock, rather than in with me!
I had really become quite down as Indah & hubby were really ill too, so I was just a sooking, blubbering exhausted mess. So Veronica I am on my 3rd & it's still all an emotional time, I thought i knew how to look after my babies, but he was/is different to the girls..
It's all trial & error, but if I dont get a good burp outta him, he simply will not settle for long!!!
On Sunday an elderly Balinese lady dropped in some Balinese oil for helping stomach wind & we massage this into his tummy after a bath & at every second nappy change & it has helped he farts heaps more!
I am just glad we seem to be getting through that bit & now I can deal with 4-5 hourly feeds at night, not up every 25mins jiggling him to get wind out for hours on end around the clock!!!
Jane you know you need to stay here hun, we want you too!
Sorry everyone else i gotta get brekky for the kids & Maddy ready for school!!!!

hi all
nicki your a very lucky mummy!! I hope the appt goes well.
jemima, the weight there is no hurry. that's what I'm telling myself. But I walk everywhere so I'm hoping it will just melt off me.
Thanks for the happy birthdays ladies
Tracey, your a star!! I don't know how you managed to get through your week!! A sick man, a sick toddler and a windy little man. Yay, Zyon is gaining weight really well, and 5 hours and fours hours. I'm usually pretty happy if we get that, and sleeping by himself even better. I know how much you getting sleep will help sooo very much.
Well us, last night was a 100% improvement on the previous night. Mum suggested going for a walk as the fresh air during the day might help him to sleep at night. So we were going for a short walk and ended up at the shops (which is not a short walk) bought my man a present on my birthday (with money I'd been given to spend on myself lol) at pumpkin patch. It just meant he had an outfit to wear when we went to grans for my birthday tea. he was so cute. Nathan was laughing at me 'cause he thought I was dressing him up like he was a doll! but my mum and my sis thought he was just gorgeous and my sis was doing the same faces I had made lol.
Anyway he went to sleep at 9pm, and didn't wake till 3am, 6 hours!! even then he was still really sleepy when I fed and changed him, and he fell back to sleep no worries, and slept until 7.30, when daddy got him up. I didn't even hear him then, 'cause nathan was already up for work.
Consequently, after me getting a total of 8 hours sleep, I'm a new women. I didn't even get teary when nathan left for work this morning, like I have the last 2 days.
Everyone take care. we are going shopping today!! spend my birthday $$

Hi everyone
For those who don't know me I thought I would drop in and introduce myself. I am another "shoulda been born in the July 2007 thread" woman. Little Zac was due on 20 July but hung out a full 2 weeks until 3 August before making his appearance!
I briefly posted some weeks ago in the August thread and have not been back since. My hubby only went back to work today so I have been making the most of all available sleeping opportunities!
Zac is doing ok he has put on about 500gm since leaving hossy he is sleeping relatively well during the night but has been a bit more unsettled during the day especially in the early evenings.
All in all (touch wood) we are getting there but I suspect the real test begins now that I don't have dad at home all of the time!
Anyway that's enough about me hope you are all doing well. My little fella is waking up for a feed so I will attempt a return for personals later in the day!
Have a good one.

Hi all,
Sorry haven't been around much - been so busy these last few weeks.
I have put some pics of Olivia on the website - she is so beautiful! My brother was visiting this weekend and bought her the cutest pink pair of NIKE shoes!!
I am still having issues with breastfeeding, I have stopped and started 3 times now and I am at my wits end so I am going to continue to express until Olivia is about 3 months old then will stop and go to formula - I am a bit upset about it but I have tried and tried to b/f with a lactation nurse and she is latching on ok but she just HURTS so much!!
My tear is slowly healing, it still gets sore sometimes when I am sitting down, I just wish it would hurry (as does DH).
Hope you are all well, I will try and be back soon to check on all the news and see some pics posted. Olivia is about to wake for her next feed so must do some things before she does!
Luv to all!
Floss xx

Hi All,
Tracey - you mentioned Zyon had a blistered butt. Can you tell me what it looked like and did it heal itself. Georgie has right in her butt what is like a blister (raw skin but never bleeds). It's been there for a good week. She doesn't seemed bothered by it at all when pooing but not sure what it is. Visiting the MCHN on Monday so going to ask her then.
Everything is going well with us, I've started to try and get Georgie to self settle a little more ie. I will let her cry a bit when I put her down for a sleep. If she really starts to cry I will go and rock her with my hand on her stomach until she stops crying.
I got in the mail today details of the mothers group from my MCHN. It starts on 11th Sep. Looking forward to meeting other mothers in the area.

Bridee, Zyon's butt cheeks) were kinda blistered from the acid poo due to the wind in his gut & the excess lactose he was drinking from the foremilk... So basically nappy rash...?
Indah has right in her anus a little blister(?) but it's just like a skin tag in her anus... It has never bled or caused her any issues...
Maybe it's similar!???
OOOh Floss, giving Olivia EBM is great... I gave up with maddy but succesfully fed both Indah & now Zyon... So the troubles your having now wont necessarily mean you cant breastfeed future babies! Best of luck!
