Baby_crazy05 ~ Good to hear from and great to hear that Jovi is doing so well!! I didn't realise that Jovi was after Bon Jovi either - I love it though!! I hope all goes well with her getting her needles. I only have a week and a bit till Emerson gets his as well.... will be interesting to see how I go with that LOL. I have a feeling I'll be more upset then he will be!Goodluck going back to work fulltime. I'm sure it will all work out fine and how wonderful that your husband is going to be a SAHD!!! You should get him to join here LOL.
Sheree ~ Keep up the good work sweety! Your the best mum with an adorable son and you know it. There is a light at the end of the tunnel!
Kellee ~ I never wrote that letter LMAO. I will get to it tomorrow. My nana doesn't have access to the internet and doesn't even know how to use a computer so its the traditional way for us! I've been writing to her since I was a teenager and she loves hearing from me and receiving photo's and stuff. And thanks for the well wishes re the personal stuff. Definately don't need the extra worry but you don't choose these things do you LOL. And I'm on the weight-loss band wagon after going through my cloths tonight (finally got to that LOL). I look good for having had a baby 6 weeks ago... but I still don't fit into all my clothes just yet so bye bye M&M's (after this last packet) and bye bye coke (after the last cans are gone LOL) and hello water and crackers and other healthy stuff LOL. I'm going to take up walking (using my mums walker in the bad weather!) and doing an exercise tape twice a week starting this week... wish me luck! I'll need your support!
Probably TMI but AF is heavier then my bleeding after the birth. It's seriously ****ting me LOL. I'm back to wearing maternity pads for cyring out loud!! Is this normal....???
Tonight as mentioned I sorted out my wardrobe - I counted my shoes lol... there were 50 lmao. I got rid of 10. I also got rid of the same amount of bags which leaves me with about 20 lol. Sorted through all of my clothes ad I've got a large bag to donate, a large bag of maternity stuff to lend to a friend ( which made me mourn my pregnant belly lol) and I still have managed to fill my BIR, part of Em's and a tall boy LMAO... I've got way to many clothes/shoes/belts/accessories/scarves/bags.....
Other then that not much to report. Spent most of the night watching musicals and now I'm trying to get Em to sleep. He normally only has 5 bottles in 24 hrs and hes onto his 6th lol. And he's been awake since about 8.30 so surely he's gotta be tired soon right?
Now that I've basically done 4 posts in a row LOL - I'll catch up with you all tomorrow!
-
Good Morning Ladies,
Hey Lea - apologies for my ignorance but when did you become a moderator??? Well done! Too bad about AF - I am like Kellee, I havent had them since before DD was born. I lie, I did get a really heavy AF before I knew I was PG with Matt - does this count? I am jealous of your wardrobe.
Scrappy - Its frustrating that us as women are expected to do everything at home and juggle the kids too. He will learn to appreciate what you do esp when he actually is left at home with the list of tasks (and doesnt escape to his parents house with Darcy!) As for AF, mine didnt return before I fell PG with Matt. It was just after conception that I got them (as mentioned to lea). I never had nipple sensitivity with BF with either of the kids - so I cant help you in that dept. AND Yes it sounds like Darcy is a very effective feeder to be able to drain you so quickly. I loved it with my DD as she would be finished her feed on both sides and back in bed (incl a nappy change) in 10 -15 mins. lets face it its quality sleeping time for us mummies. I am longing for this with Matt.
Kellee - I looked at your website and I too think you and Tom make good looking babies. Speaking of making them - so long as the bleeding has stopped I think its ok. I am in awe that you can have so much will power when it comes to losing weight. I go the other way. Keep eating the crap but increase the exercise:crying: I do have to confess though, I actually began to gain weight in the last few weeks due to eating bad food. Very naughty. I cant wait to get back onto a proper ex routine though but prob wont be able to do so until after BF as running reduces my milk too much. Will stick to walking for the time being.
Babycrazy - it gets easier to leave the kids with your partner. Make the most of grocery shopping alone if you can - it feels wonderful! I give my DD panadol before injections and although she still cries, she has never been unwell afterwards. I will take Matty next week for his and will do the same.
I had good intentions of doing personals to everyone but Matty has finally fallen asleep - this one handed typing in the dark at 4am is ludicrus.
Off to bed for some long sort after sleep
-
That's fine Shan - it was only a few weeks ago! My wardrobe isn't that great - just a lot of crap LMAO!! One handed typing at 4 am with Matty asleep definately equates bedtime!! I hope you got some decent sleep!!
Well today... No big plans really. I will have to visit my mum and drop off a bag of maternity clothes I'm lending to a friend. DP is coming over later and is cooking me dinner - yay! Uhmmm.... I think it's time to start some scrap booking again as well. Which means getting that printer hooked up!!
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
ETA I just weighed myself after last nights horrors of trying to fit into my old clothes and I'm down to 62 kgs?!!? So I think alot of toning is in order!! Either way I only have 2 kgs to loose for my goal weight! I did want to aim for 57kgs but I've been told by DP that this is too light LMAO!!! He's happy with me now!!! I'll be happy once I hit 60kgs! Just thought I'd share that with you all!
-
Well girls I have to brag Wade is wonderful with helping me out and his undue attention to his little boy, soooo surprised me as he as not the most affection or emotional person before, but glad he is now, his son deserves it and hey when he gets a kiss I look at him and say where's mine hehe. So its a win win now, never got hugs and kisses before.
Oh and have to brag Friday night we got 6 hours sleep from Lachie in a row and then last night Saturday Night we got 7 hours, wow what a bit of sleep can do, I was starting to feel so unstable, but now I feel like a new women. Even Wade said they were the best nights sleep he has had since he came home from hospital. He was only going 3-5 hours between feeds before that and then there was a good hour or more waisted of that feeding, burping and changing him and ohhh nursing him to sleep.
Well just had to tell you all I am feeling alot better and my wound is finally stopped bleeding after my gyno finally cut the stitches that I was having a reaction too. Have our 6 week checkup on Tuesday with Gyno and Paedatrician, can't wait to get some answers about Lachie and his reflux/colic.
Hope you are all having a nice weekend.
-
We just went for our first family walk, it was soooo nice, especially seeing as I am feeling alot better, it was sweet. There will be alot more of those now, it will be great. Lachie even slept the whole way. He hasn't slept all day so I guess that is one way to get him to sleep.
-
YAY for little Lachie sleeping for his mummy!!! I'm so glad for you hun!! Amazing what some sleep can do!! Glad to hear you sounding more positive again and how nice that you had your first family walk!! We haven't even done that yet - its way too cold here for walking especially with Em's cold! Let us know how your 6 week scheck up goes as well!!
Not much else to report here... except I seem to have time to chat when everyone else is busy LMAO!!! I'm just doing some dishes and then maybe some ironing.... ohhh so exciting I hear you say!
ETA - I have a really silly question to ask... how do you know when they don't fit into Newborn nappies any more LOL??? The nappies are leaving red indentation marks on Em... does this mean they're too small?? Sorry for the silly question lol! Also how should Em's head control be when having 'tummy time' at this stage (roughly). Thanks guys! Its 12.30 and I'm heading to bed!!!
-
Hi everyone,
I think my little one had finally settled. She seems more content than what she was. Does this mean that good days are on the way? She sleeps more at night than in the day and does not fight her sleep too much anymore. Gosh, I thought this day would never come!! I am dreading immunisation day on THursday!! I hope she does not get sick.
-
Hi everyone,
Sheree, it is so good to hear you are feeling much better. Walks are lovely, we havent all been together, but Cooper and I walk for an hour a day when the weather is decent. I just walk to the supermarket to get a small shop, seems to be a big part of my day, I really look forward to it. Not on today though as it is raining.
Lea, I dont think it is a silly question about nappies. I too have noticed some redness on Cooper's legs from the nappy, and was wondering the same thing. It says Huggies are for up to 5kg, and he is getting pretty close to that now. We have 3 boxes of 108 nappies left in newborn, hope the supermarket will do a swap for us. Think we might have miscalculated slightly. :) As for tummy time, I read last night that from about now they should be starting to lift their chest up off the floor. Cooper isnt doing this yet, he has good neck control but doesnt enjoy tummy time as much as I would have liked.
Angelique, great to hear about the settling with sleep. Cooper seems to be sleeping better too, not fighting the sleep as much. Hope I didnt speak too soon.
DH took care of Cooper yesterday, so I could have a big sleep in and do a big grocery shop and some cooking. (I wanted to do these things). A very nice gesture, however I have mixed feelings about him taking over. It's lovely to see him bond with his son, but he doesnt listen to things I 'suggest' and my routines and hard work go out the window. It's so hard to hear Cooper crying from being over tired, but DH not putting him to bed and if I dare suggest anything, he gets mad at me. Oh the joys!!! He means well and I am grateful of his help.
We have our 6 week check up with my GP tomorrow and one with the hospital on Wednesday. I remember thinking when I was in hospital and they made the appointment, that 6 weeks was sooo far away, and here it is already. Time is flying by.
Not sure what I want to do today...maybe have a day at home together. Hope you all have a great day,
-
Lea – good luck with the exercise! I’m on it too – I try to do two days of walking and one day off just until I’m completely recovered (I do feel completely recovered but I have a tendency to overdo it and I don’t want to hurt myself! I’m not sure if I’ll get around to it today, but you’ve reminded me that I have an awesome yogalates DVD that I can do tonight just in case. Yay on being 60 kg too! That’s awesome. Can’t imagine that right now, although I have lost one kg in the last few days, taking me down to 75. Still 11 to go… * sigh * I know what it’s like to have no clothes too – I’m a size 12-14 atm (I think I’d be a 12 all over except for the baby belly!) but I’m usually a 10 so it doesn’t feel good. We’ll get there, don’t worry! Sorry, I can’t help you with the bleeding thing, but I hope it eases soon – it must be annoying! Bugger I don’t live closer to you – I’d love to help take some of you extra clothes off your hands! Which musicals did you watch? BTW, I would just buy a pack of the bigger nappies and try them to see if they’re any good… you’ll use them eventually anyway, right? You might have to fold the top over if they fit everywhere else.
Shan – that’s really interesting that running reduces your milk. I never realised that it could have an effect like that. I’ll have to watch out for myself (I didn’t do any exercise until Charlie was 4 months old so I didn’t notice). Thanks for the lovely compliment about my babies – we like the think that we breed ‘em cute and strong… both Charlie and Toby have had very good neck strength since they were born. Toby holds his head up on his own and has done so for about a week! That explains all the partying in my tummy – he was building up his strength! Don’t worry to much about the extra weight – it will come off. I think sometimes we put too much pressure on ourselves to be perfect so soon after giving birth, and the reality is very different to that. Hope you managed to get some sleep too – are you still getting up to DD through the night as well? How is she coping?
Sheree – I’m so glad you’re feeling better, and I’m really glad that Wade is being wonderful. It certainly helps, doesn’t it? And HOORAY for the extra long sleeps! Hope it lasts for you… it’s amazing how much better it makes you feel.
Angelique – glad to hear you’re feeling better about everything too. Hope the good sleep lasts! Hope the immunisations go well too.
Alison – hooray for grocery shopping and cooking on your own! Bugger that DH isn’t doing what you want him to with Cooper, but hopefully he’ll come around eventually. Hope the check up goes well too.
Toby was better last night, thank goodness. As a general rule, he settles well and is contended most of the time except for when he has wind pain or something. He slept well last night except for when he kicked his blankets off and was cold! He’s a bit unsettled at the moment – kept waking up every ten minutes or so in his cot – so DH has got him in the Baby Bjorn now and he’s better. I really wish I could use that but my back is bad… which reminds me – for those who have had epidurals I have a question. I remember when the anesthetist put the needle in my back it triggered a pain just to the left of my spine a little lower down than where she was putting it in, but once she got it all sorted it was fine. The last few days, though, I have been getting pain in the same place – nothing too serious, but an ache that makes it hard for me to pick things up from the ground. Does anyone know if this is normal? Or if it will go away eventually? I’ll ask the GP next time I see her but I thought I’d ask.
Anyway, better go and organise dinner and get ready to go for a walk. Hope you’re all having a lovely Monday.
-
I'm supposed to be cooking dinner so just quickly.....
Sheree - very jealous of you with your lovely DH atm
Lea - don't know about the AF, but mine started today so will let you know
Allison - I hear you!!!!
Angelique - so glad you're getting some respite
Hi Shan
Mummy - you're brave oging back to work
Kellee - I only have a couple less than you to lose
Trip went well, our needles are next Monday, bought a digi camera today....
Talk soon
-
Just a quick one ladies...
Ange ~ Glad to hear that things are going well.
Alison ~ I've got 1/2 box left of the newborns so hopefully he will fit into them until they're gone and I will then get the next size up I think. Emerson is 500g off 5kgs!!! The supermarket should def do a swap for you. Em is getting there with chest off the floor - I have to admit that I haven't been doing as much tummy time as I should have. To be honest I just kind of forgot! But I'm doing more now so hopefully he'll get there soon.. He doesn't seem to mind it but we don't do it for too long as he gets frustrated.
Kim ~ My AF seems to have stopped now so it was just under a week long and really heavy for awhile there. But no pain! It's good to know someone else has it back as well LOL. What are you using for contraception? Congrats on the camera!
Vic ~ Thanks for the advice. The sides are still easy so I think they may be right for a while. If not I'll off load them to my sister! I'm guessing you didn't get a chance to come back with 2 hands LOL?
Kellee ~ I watched High School Musical, Grease and them part of Rocky Horror LOL. They were all on tele.
Hi to Jess, Shazz, Sheree, Shan and anyone else I may have missed. Not much to report here! Em is asleep and I'm going to bed myself. It's been one of those days...
-
HI all,
Gee it seems that the only time i post is during the night. Oh the joys of kids.
Lea - I usually change up nappies when they begin to look like hipsters and like Vic says when the tabs are hard to do up. I agree with Kellee too the next size will wont go to waste. I was stuck with a heap left after DD and didnt make the mistake of buying too many this time - I think I have about 3 left which DD will use a play nappies for her doll. Luckily you only have half a box left which you can still use by the sounds of it.
Kellee - You are going to hate me. I am actually down to my pre pre-preg weight. 57kgs. I only just got down to this before I fell pg with Matt. Only had 6 kg weight gain with this pg and lost it within the first 2 weeks and have eaten a load of crap thinking - what the heck i am breastfeeding - UNTIL i jumped back on the scales and went WHAT THE? I was naughty and went for a run to see if it affected my milk and it remained pretty good so maybe if I jog easily it may be ok. Pelvic pain is till there though - I think that will be my limiting factor. As for my DD, Luckily she has been a good sleeper when she learnt to sleep through from this age (6 weekish). It is on the rare occasion that she wakes us up thank goodness.
Allison - Tummy time in this house is virtually non existant. Every time I put Matty down on the floor DD want to put his dummy back in (not quite in the right hole) or climb on him etc. She is very helpful but just not aware of what she is doing could hurt him. Dont be too concerned that Cooper isnt on his elbows or chest off the ground as it will come. My poor little man will get there eventually.
Scrappy - Good luck with the needles. I will give Matty a dose of panadol before his so hopefully the affect will be minimal.
Sheree - Great to hear you out and about walking - exercise is a godsend!
Matt weighed in a 5 kgs last week (6 week check up) - he is a growing boy! He has gone from a really skinny bubby at birth to this little chubba bubba. Very cute.
Nothing to report other wise. Just need more sleep.
-
Is tummy time really necessary?
Gosh I need to get out and excersise too. U guys are making me feel bad!! hehehhe
Anyone a lazy bum like me at the moment? Not enough energy yet to lift weights and do a class. ANy suggestions guys? IT makes it hard when it is raining all the time over here. Cant wait for summer.
-
Hi all. Jovi had her needles today ... was the first time that the girls at the dr's surgery had ever heard her cry! She did pretty good though and didn't cry for long but still ... poor little bubba girl.
She's also gaining weight well ... she's up to 4.2 kilos now which is awesome. Another 250g since last week ...
Only a quicky ... talk to you girls later.
-
Ange - yes it is necessary. It strengthens all the neck and associated muscles used for eating etc among other things. My little boy hates it and always rolls over to his back. He rarely gets put on his stomach because of my 16mth old 's wandering feet and hands. Dont worry about the exercise thing. You will find that once the sporatic sleep pattern settles down you will feel more like getting out and about. I need to do more of it too - weights are great for burning calories as the muscle gained will continue to consume fuel when exercise has stopped. There are a load of exercises you can do around the house while you are waiting for Katerina to settle ie squats and lunges whilst rocking the bassinet or some pushups against the cot or wall, some dips on the chair, shoulder press with some bags of rice, sugar or tins (whatever you can find in the pantry). I should practise what i preach.
Baby Crazy - Great news about Jovi's needles and the weight gain.
DD is in daycare today and I am left with my little boy Matty. I have had such a relaxing day shopping and at home. All the beds have been stripped and washed and remade, house vaccuumed and floors mopped. About to tidy the kitchen, have a sleep then do the bathrooms if theres time before I pick up DD. It almost feels like i have a life! The bubble will burst at 430pm when i pick her up :(
Oh well, enjoy your day/evening.
-
Midgyt,
Wow, you have given me lots of inspiration for excersise. I will have to start on those lunges and do some tummy excersise on my ball. I am so lazy and would rather eat chocolate!! When does this sporatic sleeping pattern settle anyway? I am finding Katerina is getting there but once her sleep is interrupted she has sooo much trouble going down of an evening and it is painful for us. I must force her in the stroller instead of the hug a bub front carrier but she cries!! Any ideas?
DOes anyone think that letting your baby sleep in the day more will contribute to them not sleeping a lot at night? I am confused with this theory. I find my little one sometimes is very sleepy during the day on rare days. Perhaps she is catching up on lost sleep? This sleep thing is confusing
-
Shan ~ You're not alone. I spent a few weeks there posting at similar times to you. Now its generally midnight which I'm appreciating LOL! I think the last of these nappies will be fine for now. But he'll be onto the next size up from the next lot I think! Wow is Matt growing fast!! And congrats on being back down to your pre-pregnancy weight. When I fell PG I was damn near anorexic (54kgs - way too light for my height and the Dr was trying to get me to put ON weight LOL) so I'm happy to sit any where from 57 - 60 kgs. Glad to hear you're having a nice relazing day! And you've got alot done! I love getting stuff done - I feel so much better LOL!
Ange - I wish I could get motivated too. But I've been naturally skinny all my life and never really had to work for it. I was going to the gym 5 times a week before I feel PG so I should probably try and do that again. I've got no self-discipline or motivation to do it at home! The sleep thing confuses me as well. I'm slowly learning what Em wants - slowly. This morning he was sooking and it took me awhile to realize that he was tired! I will get there though as will we all!
Baby_Crazy05 ~ Glad to hear that Jovi's needles went well and that she is still gaining weight - good little bubba!!!
Vic ~ Good to hear from you sweety! You sound like you've been run off your feet lately!?!?
Hi to Kellee, Sheree, Shazz , Karen and everyone else!!
I haven't done much today - having a bit of a lazy beginning to the week because the rest of the week is pretty full! I've got dinner tonight at a local cafe (its Maree Apples birthday Karen!) and then I'm going to the movies with a friend (Did you know that they allow babies into the movies at Gawler Karen??). Oh and I cleaned my vacuum head last night and the stuff that was caught in there was unbelievable LMAO!! So gross.... I'll try and pop back in later tonight before I put Em down!!!
-
I'm supposed to have my 6 week check tomorrow as well, but trying to get into my doctors surgery is so hard, so I'll wait and do two or three things in one go.
-
Neverplan - Jovi was born 3203 grams when she was born, but she lost too much weight in her first week mainly due to jaundice (which the hospital didn't worry about, but when we went to my dr's 2 days after beig discharged she said that we shouldn't have been allowed to go home and she probably should've gone under the lights for a while). I managed to get her up to 3600g and then we were away for a couple weeks.
When we went back to the drs at 6 weeks she had dropped all the way back to her birth weight. So she's been on the bottle ever since and has put on a kilo in 3 weeks and is doing much better.

Hi Girls,
Haven't been posting for awhile, my internet explorer hasn't been co-operating lately. I could get into BB, but couldn't load any threads it was taking forever....tonight it seems to be working. I swear my computer is male...it can't do more than one thing at once. LOL
Scrappy ~ did I say in a previous post that I was returning to work??? OMG that is the last thing on my mind. I'm enjoying being a SAHMummy to much. Good one @ getting a digital camera. I love mine, forever taking pictures.
Angelique ~ Tummy time is really good for babies to strengthen their neck and upper body muscles. Great for them to learn to roll over as well. I use tummy time in my Feed-Play-Sleep pattern for my daughter. If it isn't something you don't want to do right now you don't have too. What ever you are comfortable with doing.
Baby Crazy ~ Good to hear that Jovi is doing so well with her weight gain and didn't cry very much when having her needles. Phoebe was suppose to have hers today, but I had to cancel as my car broke down and toke 5 hrs for the mechanic to fix it. Going in on Thursday...definately not looking forward to it.
Shan ~ Sounds like you had a great day today. It is nice to have a clean house and everything done. It's amazing how much you can cram into a day when you set your mind to it. I definately need a day like that.
Delta ~ best of luck for the 6 week check up tomorrow. Yes time does fly. Sad in a way though.
Well Phoebe seems to be a fan of music. (Kellee will love to hear that) Last night Phoebe just wouldn't settle after having a decent feed and being awake on and off for quite a few hours. My DH was out in the kitchen with the radio going. He took her in there with him and within 5 minutes she was sound asleep. Then later that night she woke for her last feed for the day and again I couldn't settle her. I was going back into do some scrapbooking, so took her in with me in her rocker and put some music on the computer and you guessed it 5 minutes later she was fast asleep. I have a CD of nursery rhymes played by a orchestra that I use to play in my sons room when he was a baby...it didn't really make much of a difference with him but I think that I will have to put it going in my room, by her cot and see if the music continues to be a success with settling. I have done the same tonight and again success...just too good!!
Hello to anyone I have missed....Take Care X
-
Hi again girls, I have just realised I missed a heap of your posts. I only read page 1, not page 2...lol
Lea ~ God haven't seen Maree in such a long time, how is she going?? I had no idea that they let you take babies into the movies...how cool is that. Have to mention that to DH.
Ange ~ Sleep can be a little tricky at times. I have found that since Phoebe started sleeping all night that she began to sleep less during the day. Every baby is different. Some require more sleep, while others can get by on very little sleep during the day. Have you tried the Feed-Play-Sleep daytime pattern. It works for us, but I guess unfortunately it doesn't for ever one....worth a try I suppose.
Right....I think that just about covers it.

Hi Everyone,
Mummy for life- Yes, I do the feed play sleep thing but she gets cranky very often. How good that your little one is sleeping though the night!! Wish I had that much luck. I am putting her on the Tizzie hall routein to see if she can sleep and settle better. I am still finding it extremely hard in the evenings and last night she would not go to sleep till after 11pm. It was really hard. I hope this does not go on for much longer, it is just too exhausting. My mum recons she may be teething as she is not eating well and is dribbling quite a bit. May have to take her to the doctor tomorrow.
I am a big fan of sounds of silence CD. Sometimes it is the only thing that will settle my daughter. I recommend it to anyone although the sounds could drive you mad!!
Neverplan - yes, my baby is sleepy at the wrong times of the day!!
Lea13 - I agree, one day of another we will all get used to eveything, still early days.
-
Wow you can all talk.
Well we had our 6 week check up yesterday for me: (gyno) and for Lachie (paedatrician) and we had our child health nurse appt. Big day!
For me, well looks like I might be forming an absys in the deeper layers of my wound. Before my skin had a reaction to the superficial layers of the stitches, but now it appears it might be deeper now. He didn't explain alot to me as usual, but basically said if it is no better in 6 weeks (what tha.... like I haven't waited long enough to recover), then he is going to operate again!!!! Golly gosh I am so fed up with this. I was given a papsmear and have been put on the mini pill.
As for Lachie, the paedatrician agreed that Lachie has reflux but upped the dosage to 10ml's a day (5ml's x 2 times a day - GOSH WHAT A STRUGGLE), previously the CHN had only diagnosed 2ml's per day (1ml x 2 times a day). I am going to get the chemist to make it up more concetrated next time so I don't have to give 5ml in one hit, boy what a struggle. Even tried it in a medicine dummy and he drank half but once realised it was not mummy's milk he basically told me to get stuffed in a baby like way. So anyways the paedatrician said that seing as he started the medication 2 weeks ago and am only just seeing some progress now, that the losec will work and upping the dosage will work wonders, if I see no progress in 10 days I am to ring him and go and see him asap. The paed is also checking out if he is lactose intolerant, so have to collect a poo sample, oh joy!
I still think we have issues with flow and positioning that I could help lachie not to be so chucky, but will wait till this 10 day period has lapsed before I go and chat to a lactation consultant, as I always seem to be doing everything at once and get confused with what is working and what is not. Also feel he has a touch of colic but again will see what transpires from this medication, hopefully it just fixes everything.
Emma just to let you know re: chucky babies they are particularly keeping an eye on us as Wade as a 6 week old baby had to have an operation on his stomach as he wasn't keeping anything down and he nearly died. The condition was called "Phyloris Stenosis". So as long as Lachie is weeing and pooing and gaining weight, no matter how much he is chucking my mind is at ease. The occasional projectile vomit is ok, but when they are projectile every feed there is a need for major concern. They told us there is a debate as to whether this condition is hereditory, but we would be very very unlucky, so fingers crossed.
At the CHN appt, Lachie is now 8lb 7oz, so he has only put on 6oz in 2 weeks, which I am guessing is ok as she was happy with that, just doesn't seem like much in a two week period. So basically in 6 weeks he has put on 2lb 2 oz. He is still such a fine boy, guess he is just going to be a skinny baby. The CHN was even worried about where we are going to put the needles into his legs as there aint much fat at all. His HC is now 38cm and his length is now 53.5 (at the CHN) and 55 (at the paedatrician) - they all measure differently.
So hopefully this higher dose medication will see to a happier baby.
Oh and also I have reached the safety net with medicare so I put in a claim for $350 yesterday and got $266 back instead of the expected $95, cool hey! Apparently once we start collecting the Family Tax Benefit the threshold then goes from $1000 to $500. So as you can imagine I was all smiles walking away from there.
Oh and we don't do the feed/play/sleep thing, we try but he just won't go to sleep only after a feed, so he stays awake till next feed, or only cat naps, and then will go to sleep after next feed. But we are working on it.
Also am finally getting my $3000 and appears my fortnightly payment will be $187. So that will be a nice bonus.
Go the maroons tonight. Go you good things!
Think that is all my news, sorry for the long post and thank you for reading.
Hope you are all well and enjoying your bubbas, they are all so cute, I have updated our website if anyone wants to take a peek.

Well I went to reply last night and OMG – all hell broke loose!! I thought Em was still hungry after finishing 120ml bottle so I got another one and started feeding him that – after 20mls he opened his mouth and let rip. I thought he had wind so I started winding him… 2 burps later and the screaming was still going on. And I‘m talking screaming not crying lol which he has never done before. So I went to change him and as soon as I put him down the screaming got louder and came out in strange short painful spurts. At this stage I thought I’d some how hurt him or he’d been bitten by something… So he’d been screaming like this non-stop (boy did he have a red face lol) for just over ½ an hr I rang DP. We actually couldn’t hear each other because Em was so loud but I got I’ll be there in 20. And of course because I had actually asked someone for help – 3 minutes after I hung up he just suddenly stopped… so I called DP back and said hey I think its ok now lol. He whinged for another ½ hr then had his second bottle while winging lol and then went to sleep… so 2 bottles in 2 hours!? Strange little baby. So that was my first ‘moment’ as such lol.
Mummy ~ Maree is good and last night was good as well – we had my mum, Lynette H and Amy S there as well. That’s great you’ve found a techinique to settle Phoebe. Em settles really well with his Winnie the Pooh monitor on which is great. You can take them into any session apparently and Em was great! Plus on Tuesdays its on $6 so with a drink and popcorn it only cost me $11! Which I think is great
Vic ~ We saw RV – it was very bad! Emerson slept the whole time which was great! And so much for us motivating you lol – last night I went to the chemist and went next door and got 2 chocolate milks, a 6 pack of donuts, a packet of mini wagan wheels and a trifle cup…. What a pig lol!!! As soon as its all gone I’m not buying anymore crap lol!!
Bellasman ~ You’re looking hot!
Baby_crazy05 ~ Em put on 900g in 3 weeks aswell and I think that was before his growth spurt! It was good chatting to you on MSN as well.
Ange ~ Emerson is generally awake from about 6 through till 12 just catnapping. At 12 he’ll go down for his long sleep. Are you trying to enforce a routine or are you just going with what she wants?
Hi to Shazz (Where are you sweety?), Kellee, Sheree and everyone else! I’m off to go visit DP at work!
ETA - Hi Sheree can't reply now but I'll BBL and read your post hun!
-
Nat - you poor thing with Em screaming that is my life all the time with Lachie and his reflux, but hopefully those days are gone!
-
Vic you are a miracle mum. I can't imagine having other children with a sick refluxy/colicky baby. Guess I should be thankful. hehe.
Lea I just checked out your website how cute Emerson is. Has a real mowhawk thing happenin, nearly as much hair as Lachie too. He is just beautiful and almost as a newborn has a bit of a pixie look about him, like Lachie. You have changed your hair colour, have you not? You look better with a bit of weight too honey, such a beautiful mother, I thought b4 you were preggas you were very skinny. You look great!
-
Nat and Sheree you guys both look fab!
Vic - the park counts as exercise after all the cake doesn't o**** then and you still got to eat it! Darcy doesn't have much hair either and what she was born with is falling out, though there is fair hair growing in the bald patches...LOL
Nat Darcy and Em could almost be related seeing as they look so similar in some of Em's photos (only joking but it's uncanny!).
Sheree you sound heaps better. Sounds like you've gotten into your groove.
Ang - I tried the routine thing too, but Darcy won't do it, so I just take her cue (although we have been awake since pretty much 1.30am).
Allison, I haven't forgotten to send that stuff, I just can't get to the post office until Tuesday OK?
I' ve been walking every day (like Allison???) and have to say I look forward to it too. Now I just need to pick the image up off the floor and get out of my trackies all the time...
Shan between you and Nat I have been inspired and have been much more industrious this week. I have even done my eyebrows and dyed my hair! A little job every now and then adds up to a lot at the end.
We have a wedding (yes another one) on Saturday and I am busil trying to make a top (Nanny might have to babysit a while). And Kmart are haivng their toy sale this week with no deposit layby til Chrissie. Our local one opens at midnight....might go if I'm awake....Definitley going to layby some stuff. I can't wait till she can have Barbie and Cabbage Patch and lego and My Little Pony and.....yes I''m 5 at heart LOL!
Heard a great Quote this morning about lifes passions
"If you don't live for something, you die for nothing"

Hi Girls,
I must admit that the Feed-Play-Sleep pattern/rountine, didn't work very effectively when my son was a baby. It really didn't start to work until he was 4mths old and even doing that he still woke a number of times during the night. It wasn't until I introduced a roll over feed at 10pm that he began to sleep through and that was at 10mths. My daughter has taken to it really well, which is such relief. I still remember all to well what it is like to be sleep deprived....how it affects your life. I remember with Samuel I would be sitting up in bed at 3am feeding him and I would just be so exhausted, I would nod off to sleep. I would wake a short time later and would be so confused and disorentated that I didn't know if I had finished feeding or just beginning. LOL The advice out there is endless and can be daunting and confusing. Babies can be funny little creatures, but unfortunately don't come with an instruction manual.
Take Care X

Sheree ~ So good to hear from you hun and hear that you are going so well. Ouch @ the abyss I do hope it clears up for you and you don’t need surgery! Yay for having the dosage of the medicine put up – I do hope it works wonders for the little man and as a result you get some sleep!!! And woot for the extra unexpected cash! It’s always such a nice bonus isn’t it? Em is exactly the same with feeds and awake time etc… he generally has his big sleep at night and the morning and then will cat nap all afternoon and then be awake from around 6ish till he goes down for his big sleep again. OMG I can’t believe the hair on your little Lachlan – its amazing!! And you are looking great – I loved the picture of Wade with Lachlan on his chest and the ones of Lachlan with you – just too gorgeous!!! You must be so proud!!! And if Em screamed like that all the time I’d be at my wits end so you’re doing a great job I think!!! And yes I changed my hair colour – went from blonde to a browny red LOL. Its easier and cheaper to maintain then the blonde. I actually prefer it to be honest. Thanks so much as well – I was definitely too skinny before and I’m not going to drop down to that weight again. You’ve made my day by saying all that!!
Vic ~ Funny you say that about good/bad babies and first/second ones LOL. I’ve heard so many people say that if they had their second child first they wouldn’t have had any more LMAO!! I can make you feel better if you like… I just finished off the packet of Wagon wheels LOL. I’m blaming it on AF! Next week I’ll be an angel… I promise!! I hope all those sick kids get better and that you don’t get it either! It sucked big time when Em & I were both sick! And Sheree is right – miracle mum indeed!!! Thanks for looking at the site too – I was amazed at how much hair he had as I was expecting a baldy. I’m also amazed that he hasn’t lost any of it like everyone said he would!
Mummy ~ I know about that disorientated feeling LOL. When I was breastfeeding I could never remember which breast I had finished off on last time… confused the hell out of myself. Tried to use bracelets on my arm to remember but I got confused with that as well! Wouldn’t it be great if they came with a manual LOL!?!?
Kim ~ Thanks for the compliments!! And that’s funny about the similarities!! Darcy looks gorgeous in her pics!! I do love walking – its just so cold here!! YAY for having done your eyebrows and dying your hair!!! How exciting – I love it LOL!! Though I must admit my eyebrows need a little work ATM. I hate waiting to have them waxed but I’m rather lazy with plucking as it hurts LOL!! The Kmart sales are crazy aren’t they? I should go and put some stuff on layby actually… I’ve got the catalogue right here! I think that will be my homework for tonight! I can’t believe you have another wedding! And how true is that quote?! – Thanks for sharing it!
If anyone can tell I’m actually posting with 2 hands LOL. My little piglet is playing on his play mat hitting his toys and talking to himself! He has only just started making noises these past few days – I will probably regret saying this but I can’t wait till he’s making more noise and I can interact with him a little more!
Well today I went had the implanon implant put in (no more 'mistakes' here LOL) and TBH I didn't really want it in and I feel guilty for some reason... I'm not really sure why. But I can't chance going back on the pill again because it didn't work last time and next time I have a baby I want (more then anything in the world) for it to be planned. I love Emerson so so much and wouldn't change anything in the world but its been hard having people around me be negative during the PG. Next time I want to make an announcement and have positive responses etc. Not that it was all bad this time but .... oh you all KWIM LMAO!! You've been there with me through this whole journey so you know what I'm trying to say! So yeah the implant is in - doesn't help that I'm queasy either LOL but it wasn’t too bad in the end.
Then I took Emerson to see his Daddy at work. And as usual a visit to work meant I was there for a few hours to catch up on the goss etc etc. Em slept the whole time!! I think it was the car drive up that made him sleepy!! Other then that not much really going on. Dinner last night was great - I had Penne Prawns and Calamari in a sweet chilli creamy sauce. It was delicious! Even better my mum paid LOL! Then I went to the movies to see RV and it was really really crap... but we had fun all the same. Emerson slept in our arms the whole time - didn't hear a peep out of him the little angel!
Well tonight is really crappy tele night so I've got some paperwork and other stuff to catch up on so I might do that. I think Emerson is going through a growth spurt as he just keeps wanting more and more bottles LMAO!!
Have a great night ladies!
-
i agree Lea and sheree you both look fab .....:) Oh i gotta start walking:doh:
-
Hi Girls,
Nat ~ so be honest, did having the implant hurt. I am such a sook. I'm thinking about having it done too or alternatively going on the mini pill. Like you..'NO more unplanned bubby's'. Samuel was very much planned and Phoebe was a surprise. I don't think there will be anymore for me, but DH will not entertain the idea of having the snip. mmmmmm wagon wheels....sorry to hear your AF has returned.
Scrappy ~ a wedding....love them, I haven't been to one in ages. LOL @ (5 at heart) me too, I can't wait until Phoebe is old enough to play with all that stuff. There is soooo much I want to buy her...way too much to choose from.
Hi to all I have missed.....Take Care X
-
I had a really mixed day today i took my 2 older kiddies to the movies today and Ryan was babysat by my sister ( first time he has been left with anyone other then DH ) i was fine till i got into the cinema then the anxiety crept in i couldn't wait for the movie to be over and i could get home to him that 40 min drive home near killed me i did enjoy the movie ( Adam Sandlers new one CLICK it has it all :crying: :) )even though i kept checking my mobile which i had on vibrate just in case. maybe next time i willl relax a little more
i wish i had some $$$$$$$$ for the toy sales dam it why do they always start sales on my off pay week
-
Hi All,
Shazz - I had to laugh at the anxiety thing - I still feel a bit anxious when I leave DD with DH ( not that I should be worried its the guilt that sets in) So was the film worth it then?
Scrappy - Myer has a huge sale starting today as well. The ads reckon it is going to be bigger than the stocktake sale!
Vic - I cracked up at Mel riding Adam like a horse because last week when mum was here I heard her yell out 'get off him he isnt a horse' to my DD. Apparently she tried to mount him to ride him in his rocker. Glad to hear the kids are feeling a bit better.
Mummy - I had a Miruna IUD for almost 5 years. I loved it. It has a tiny bit of hormone in it which is released for the whole time it is in. As a result I had almost the whole time of NO AF wooohooo! I had a bit of continuous bleeding when it was first inserted but nothing after about 4 months. There is a www for it so I think it is worth a thought as well. I am getting it in again when I go to the Dr for my check up. No more babies for us I dont think which I feel somewhat disappointed about. DH wants to have a life again??? As for the roll over feed - you jogged my memory. I have just tried it with Matty and am still waiting for him to go to sleep. I was very good and didnt use the lights or anything but he obviously didnt want to make it too easy for me. I can hear him grunting and groaning away. As long as him dummy stays in then he will be fine.
Lea - Gotta love the car rides - lots of sleep.
I tried to post this afternoon and had quite a post happening but when I tried to post I think Belly buddies website must have been down as it just stayed idol and then timed out. Subsequently I lost all the info :( Oh well.
I put DD to bed at 530 this evening as she was really grizzly and showing every tired sign in the book. She rewoke at 8pm really up set and when I went into her she was burning up with a fever. I dosed her with panadol and let her stay up for an hour before putting her to bed again. She went down really well thankfully. Once again I felt guilty after brushing off this behaviour as annoying and tired. Poor little tot was getting sick. But I recall Vic say earlier there is generally a reason they cry and I always seem to work it out after the act when they are generally showing obvious sick signs.
Arghhhh the joys of being a mum.
Well almost 2am and trust me I seem to need my beauty sleep more and more these days. My looks seem to be directly proportional to the amount of hours sleep I got the night before!
Be good
-
Hi Shan it was a good movie i love adam sandlers movies it was quite sad at the end i even shed a tear i'm glad i didn't let my other 2 kids down so i would say my bit of anxiety was worth it
you had me cracking up up at
"I cracked up at Mel riding Adam like a horse because last week when mum was here I heard her yell out 'get off him he isnt a horse' to my DD. Apparently she tried to mount him to ride him in his rocker."
-
Just quick one, but I thought if I didn’t post today there would be too much to catch up on! As it is I don’t know whether I’ll get to everyone’s posts, but I’ll try…
Shan – no, I don’t hate you! That’s awesome news about your weight. Sorry to hear that you’re still getting some pain – hopefully it abates soon. Sounds like Matt is doing really well – any chance we could see some pics?
Ange – Can’t believe Katerina is almost 2 months old! Wow. Re: exercise – walking is such a great thing to do and I bet Katerina will love it. It’s nice to get out in the fresh air too. Re: sleep – I know Toby is a bit younger than Katerina, but I just let him sleep when he wants to at this stage. He usually has two awake periods in the day, one longer one in the morning and a short one in the early evening, but if he’s just too tired to stay awake I don’t force it. As Vic (I think) said, it’s good to have them feeding more in the day than night. If you are going to try a specific method, make sure you give it a bit of time to work, like a few days. It doesn’t always work in the first night. Good luck with the Tizzie thing – let us know how it goes.
Karen – yay for Phoebe liking music! I totally approve. Charlie really liked Bach’s Piano Preludes and Fugues for some reason. Poor little Toby doesn’t really even know that Mummy is a musician because I haven’t had a chance to practice for months! Bugger about your car too. Hope it doesn’t take long to be fixed.
Sheree – right, I need the name of your gyno so I can go an open a can of whoop-arse on his butt. I wonder if he had listened to you in the first place whether you might have been able to get help and recover more quickly. Bastard. Hope you’re able to sort out the stuff with Lachie too. It must be really frustrating now, I’m sure, but once you get to the root of the problems things will be much better.
Lea – poor little Em! It’s so bad when things like that happen and you don’t know what’s wrong. Lucky it seemed to be nothing too serious. Hope you don’t have another ‘incident’ like that!
Vic – sorry to hear that you’ve got sicky bubs. Hope that it passes soon.
Kim – enjoy your wedding! I wish I had more to go to, although my brother is getting married in October and I have to plan the hen’s night because I’m a bridesmaid. Scary stuff. Was it you that was saying you had a couple less to lose than me? Maybe we can have a race! And it’s great that you’re walking everyday – I am too and it feels so good!
Shazz – glad you enjoyed the movies. It’s really nice that you got to do that with your older kids. How are you going? Seems like you’ve been a bit AWOL lately. Hope you’re well.
Well, still enjoying the time off with DH. We left Charlie with Mum last night and went out with Toby to a friend’s house for dinner, where we ended up singing dorky ****tail piano songs (Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, Big Spender, etc.) around the piano. Was very funny. I’m taking Toby out to see my best friend for afternoon tea tomorrow, then we’re staying at Mum’s for the night so that Charlie and DH can have some time together. Charlie has been really good about everything and it’s nice for him to have a bit of extra attention lavished on him occasionally. Toby’s been pretty good too – settles well and is very cute except for when he has wind pain. Looking forward to when he starts sleeping longer between feeds, but it’s fine as long as he settles quickly at night each time.
Anyway, can hear a crying boy. Will try to visit again tomorrow so I don’t have so much to catch up on! Hope you’re all well.
-
morning All
hope every one is fine and well
Kell ~i 'm around just lurking really every time i sit down to do a really long post some little munchkin wants me and the milk bar so thats the end of that

any way i better get going we are off to see a very dear old friend today so i'll try to be back later to catch up take care and have a great friday wooo hooo the weekend already ... isn't time flying by
-
Lea13 - I think you must have been talking to someone else on MSN cos it wasn't me! lol ... not that I wouldn't love to! If anyone wants to add me feel free!
TRIED to go to Big W yesterday and layby some toys for Xmas, not only for Jovi but we also have 2 neices and 2 nephews to buy for. Silly me took DH with me ... grrrrrr ... all we ended up getting was part of a pressie for one of our neices and we spent $170 on Jovi! So toy wise she's definitely fine ... will put away some clothes and stuff for her later when I go back to work. But I did want to get some stuff for others, but apparently they let the ferrels out yesterday and they kept blocking the aisles and carrying on like idiots and DH was getting very aggitated ... so we left. lol
Jovi's been having a couple of off days ... I think she's having a delayed reaction to the needles (well I hope so anyway). Tuesday she was fine, Wednesday she hardly slept at all and then ended up sleeping from 10pm to 8:30am and completely through herself out of wack. Been a struggle to get her off to sleep (lots of rocking!) and she's not drinking as much as usual. She has been having 150mL bottles and for the last couple of days we've been flat getting her to drink 100mL. She's a little bugger. She better sort herself out soon ... it's quite distressing ... not only with the horrible screaming and crying, but we then start to worry about her weight again ... already had a dream last night that she had lost weight again.
But I'm sure she's fine ... will probably take her for another weigh in next week though to make sure she's still on track. Hopefully we get our nice nurse ... there's one who's real dopey and you have to wonder how she became a nurse and the other doesn't have much of a bedside manner.
-
Baby crazy I did basically the same thing at Kmart, only was going to layby stuff for Darcy and my nephew but the laby line was about 8 hours long!!!! Not great with a wee one.
Hope Jovi improves, but sounds like a normal reaction to the needles.
Darcy has been sleeping better at night lately. I still have to get up to feed her a couple of times, but she settles quicker. She is able to roll now even if I wrap her tightly, and she was rolling, the cradle would rock and she was hitting her head on the side and waking up, so the last few nights she has been in her cot and seems to be OK.
Usually she won't sleep past 4.30am (yes I know the morning is the best part of the day - but it's still dark...), but the last two days has managed to sleep to 8.30-9.00.
My top that i was sewing turned out great untril i sewed the sleeves on! The rest fit so I didn't check them and then when I tried on the completed top, couldn't put it on cos the sleeves were WAY to tight. Was so angry after spending hours on it!!! My mum took me shopping today and was so nice she bought me three new tops, a gorgeous cardie amd a pair of pants!
