Hahahah Ive put this up in the wrong thread...can you tell im pg...sorry girls
-
lol maz, good job.
HI all,
I've drawn a blank as to what was in the last thread, but I think it had something to do with some bubs working themselves out?? Yay for you all.
Well I still can't complain 'cause I think everyone has had it tougher than us, but I was enjoying having a baby that slept a fair bit during the day, and he has decided that sleep is for suckers and didn't even let me down gradually, just went cold turkey yesterday.
Now the grizzle guts is in bed pretending to sleep for 10 min intervals and then cries.
Ok time to go and try to quieten him again.
-
Rebecca, sounds like a real little cheeky man you have there.:p
Jack is still not well during the days. Starting to pewk alot more now too, don't know if he has a little bit of reflux as well or wheather me being off dairy isn't enough to deal with the lactose intolerance (I hope not). Thinking I'm going to take him back to my docs and she what she thinks.
Does anyone know if you need a prescription for losec?
-
Hi all
Mel sorry to hear Jack is still unwell during the day. As far as I know you do need a presciption for Losec. Jesse was on it for a while when he was a baby and the paed gave us the script. Let us know how you go with the Dr.
Rebecca - he he he at your cheeky man LOL! I hope he is sleeping again for you during the day. It is so nice to have that down time during the day when they are asleep isnt it!
Me - Oliver and Jesse were in childcare today so I caught up with a friend this morning for a coffee and then came home and was just settling down to a relaxing afternoon when childcare phoned and they said Jesse had fallen and split his lip with his teeth. So I had to go and pick him up and he was Mr Miserable in capital letters!! So my relaxing day wasnt really all that relaxing but never mind next Tuesday is only a week away!! I did manage to get Charlotte weighed and she is now 5.17 kg which equates to about 1.60kg per week since birth. Just a question for you all - how long does your baby feed for? Charlotte only feeds for about 10 minutes and then she is done - I think she is getting enough as she sleeps really well at night and I feed her every 3 - 4 hours during the day. I always try and get her to have a bit more but she is rarely interested.
Hi to everyone else. I hope you are all managing to get a bit of sleep.
take care
Jem
-
Hey Jem, sorry to hear about Jesse. Poor little guy, did he need any stitches? Jack only drinks for around 10 minutes also. And I know he is getting enough, cause he's pilling on the kg's. Charlize has been really sick lately too. I don't know if it has something to do with the ezcema that seems to be at it's worst ATM or maybe her teeth. But yesterday and today she has ran fevers of up to 39.3 but only got that high twice, we are managing it with panadol to keep it down between 37.5-38.5, it's just so scarey to see her that sick. Thinking about taking her to the docs as well. Just feel like a paranoid mum ATM with both of them not well, starting to wondering if it's me.
-
Jemima,
I was just asking myself the same question.
Kaetlyn feeds for about 15 mins on one boob and me thinking that thats not long enogh i try to make her latch on again and feed for longer. then on the next boo she feeds for about 5 minutes- this is was different from when she used to feed for a hour and then it was 45 minutes.
She also sleep well overnight- about 6 hours, so then in the morning my boobies are full, but she drains one and the other is left about half full.
Mel- you do need a script for losec. hope all goes well.
V- glad to hear that things are fionally going well with Avaleigh!!
Rebecca- I know what you mean about sleep during the day- kaetlyn now only seems to sleep for about half hour at the moment during the day :( ahh well cant complain - she sleeps right through the night if i time her feeds well though :D
Well thats about it- we are busy organising Kaetlyns Baptism- its in three week- we had to do it at such short notice as my brother is in townsville and its the only weekend he can come down (damn army). Arrggghhh and I want to make her gown as well, so had better get cracking.
Kaetlyn was weighed today- she now weighs 5kg ... I would say she is a little fatty bomba but she isn really- I think that she is quite long so she dosnt look as chubby as other bubbas at the moment....
Well off to bed cause she is asleep for the night now, and I need to go and produce some milk for the mega feed in the morning!!!!!
Bye all!!!!
Sara

Ooooohhhhh Mel big:hug:
You are doing a great job mel with both your kiddies, your just having a rough trot at the moment.
Its not you, dont take it personally :(

Hi Everyone *big hugs* what a week its been...
Last saturday my DP who has epilepsy had a seizure and I have been a nervous wreck all week. It was the first one I’d ever seen him take, he is 30, and it scared me big time to see him have to go through that. (The last one was on the morning Lucas was born, I was 8hrs post c-s on the ward, bub was in NICU and DP was in A & C, but that’s a whole other story!)
So I’m feeling overwhelmed ATM! His seizures are bought on by lack of sleep, not so great with a new baby in the house. I’m a SAHM so I happily do the overnight feeds weekdays but weekends are now out but I’m scared thinking about later too when I need to go away for uni, let alone when we have our next baby… We were co-sleeping which is now also out of the question too.
Mummy Mel ~ what you describe with Jack also sounds like Lucas, the pains wake him up or keep him awake when he is tired and he had 2 big vomits on Monday. I was a bit worried about him after that as he also felt warm and had not used his bowels for 24 hours. DP has stayed home from work the last two days so we could all rest and just be together after a trying week.
We have been really lucky in that DS has been a good eater and sleeper but lately he seems to be in increasing discomfort after feeding with wind, and passing lots of gas too the last couple of days. The same as what is happening with some of the other bubs here. I'm taking him to the doctor today to see what we can do for him.
-
hi all,
it appears it's another war day in here. I hope some things are getting better.
Mel sry to hear jacks days aren't too good, and charlize as well poor little tackers. You are a great mum!! if you weren't you wouldn't be paranoid.
I was told it was normal for a bubs, epscially once they get the hang of everything to only feed for about 15mins. Xav was doing this at first but decided longer was better. I told my mum it only takes 15 mins and she was shocked, but her friend that runs a childcare backed me up and said the mums that come in to feed bub only take 15 mins, and all done.
august moon mum, you poor thing you must be physically and emotionaly exhausted atm.
Well in the end I have won out over the checky little man in my own way. I think he feels left out when I come on here, and he wriggles too much to hold, so I finally got the hug a bub out, and I love it.
After not really sleeping at all yesterday arvo, I put the hab on, put him in he went to sleep (about 4.40pm) and stayed there happily snoring away until about 8pm, when mummy rudely removed him to change his bum.
naughty mummy.

Hi All,
Well received not great news this morning. We had an appointment to get Georgies hips ultrasounded. Breech babies can have problems with there hips and are rountinely ultrasounded at 6weeks. Paed and MCHN has all said they believed her hips were good when they had examined them but the ultrasound has shown they are not they way they should be. I don't know much that was just what the Dr. said that did the ultrasound. Paed is going to call today or tomorrow to make and app and then we will be referred to orthopedic surgeon. Dr today said she will need to be in a brace probably for a month. Kept upset but know it is good that it has been picked up early.
Its quite silly but later in the month is my mums 60th birthday so are going to there place (3 hours away) for her party. I was so looking forward to going home to show of my perfect little girl. to family and friends. Now everyone will comment on the brace rather than my perfect litle girl.
Sorry for selfish post just getting my head around what is happening.

Hi girls...sounds like a few of you are doing it tough at the moment...so sending some big hugs your way!!! *huggggs*
Alessia has decided that she also doesn't want to sleep during the day...not fun when she's well fed but I'm starving! I'm finding it quite tough without David at home - admittedly he takes heaps longer to change her/settle her...but he tries and loves Alessia to death *lol* so the help is still appreciated! I've just finally got my little princess to sleep...first time she's slept more than 10 minutes since 7:30am!
I'm still having some breastfeeding problems...my right nipple isn't improving and when I tried to pump it this morning, I got zilch! What's with that!?? *ugh* I'll keep perservering but I'm afraid our breastfeeding journey may be short lived :(
-
Thanks ladies so much for your compassion, I really appreciate it.
Well today was a very eventful one, but a good one. I took them both to see my doc this morning. I'll start with Charlize first. She has been prescribed a steroid cream for her eczema, just until it is under control then I can go back to using the natural one. So big win there, hopefully it will get better in a day or two. And the tempretures are only caused by her teeth, her ears, nose and throat are all ok. so she has put it down to her teeth since they are nearly through.
Then there was Jack. I decided last night when I was in tears that I was going to try get him to a paed asap. I was so lucky that the paed I wanted to see had a cancellation this afternoon. And we have a breakthrough well I hope anyway. Jack has reflux, Lactose intolerance (which we already knew) and heart burn. But the good news is, that the later two are only caused by the reflux. So once we have the reflux under control, his body should be able to replenish the lactace that breaks down lactose and the heart burn should stop too. So he has been prescribed zantac, and he also takes mylanta. He will stay on this for two weeks until we see the paed again, where if he hasn't improved he will go onto a stronger form called losec or if he is better he will stay on the zantac until he grows out of it, which is normally by the ago of 2. So fingers crossed he will improve soon. I don't know if it is wishful thinking but I think I can notice a difference already after just two feeds. Oh I hope this works:pray: I always thought this. So I feel better knowing that my intuition was right from the start. But I'm angry at myself too for not trusting it and looking into it alot sooner.:wall:
Bridee, oh poor Georgie. I hope you get some answers tomorrow from the paed. I guess in a way it's lucky they picked it up this soon, so she can be fixed sooner rather than later IYKWIM. I know that makes no difference to you though, it still must be scarey and upsetting. But I'm sure she'll be o.k. Hugs to the both of you.
Fran, I hope you day got better. I know how important B/F is to you. I hope you can continue, but there is nothing bad about having to change over to formula if you have too, it's what best for the two of you that is the important thing. Hope things get better.
A_M_M, hope you don't mind be abbreviating your user name.;). Does OMG you poor thing, having to watch your DP go through that. You must have delt with it so well, much better than I think I would have been able too. Is he o.k. now? Has lucas got reflux? We only just found this out today, hopefully he has a big improvement soon, I will let you know how we go. Hope Lucus has a good night.
Rebecca, sounds like you two have bonded so beautifully. And thanks for your kind words.:)
Veronica, I thought of you when I was at the paed today, when he mentioned that the temp. case of lactose intolerance is caused from the reflux, I thought maybe Avaleigh is in the same boat??????????????? . Is avaleigh on zantac or losec?
Hi to everyone else.
I just couldn't wait to get on tonight to let you all know about the kids. Fingers crossed they are both better soon.
Take care
Mel

Hi all
Mel - Woo Hoo - great news about Charlie and Jack. Fingers crossed the steroid cream you have for Charlie gets her eczema under control asap and those teeth hurry up and come through soshe can start to feel better. The poor thing has been doing it tough. Big Big Big yay on getting into the paed so quickly and how fantastic he picked up the reflux. So hopefully once you get that under control everything else will fall into place. You must be feeling really relieved that you are finally getting some answers and are well on the way to having a happy and content bubba. Good on you for persisiting - there is somthing to be said for a mothers intuition.
Fran - I hope you day got better. IKWYM about it being tough without having DH at home - my DH went back to work last week and although I am so thankful he was able to have nearly nine weeks off I still want him home now - but that isnt going to happen LOL - some one has to earn some money to pay the bills. I find myself watching the clock from about 3 onwards and am counting down the minutes until he wallks in the door. But in saying all of that in a way it is good he has gone back to work as I was going to have to get used to doing it on my own sooner or later. Hugs to you - before you know it you will have things/a routine sorted. Best of luck with the bf - you are very dedicated.
Bridie - best of luck at the paed. Let us know how you go and like Mel said it is great that any potential issue was picked up so early. Will be thinking of you.
AMM - you poor thing. I hope you DH is better. How did you go with Lucas at the Dr today?
rebecca - I love my hab too. I had Charlotte in it tonight when I was getting tea ready for O liver and Jesse and it makes life so much easier. What colour did you get?
Well not much new to report here. Life is just soooo busy - I miss being able to post on here or just lurk to see what is going on - nowadays I feel like I just quickly jump on and off the computer between dealing with one of three children LOL!!
Thanks everyone for saying how long your baby feeds for - it sounds like Charlott eis feeding for a similar amount of time to most other babes and I guess as she is pretty content she is obviously getting what she wants.
Hi to everyone else
Take care
Jem
-
Mel - You really are doing it tough at the moment!! But atleast you are on the right track to get things sorted out and I hope that it happens really soon as well. Avaleigh isnt on anything, my doctor didnt want to prescribe anything at 4 wks cause he felt she is a little too young and we decided to see how the next 2 weeks go and if things dont improve, then I will take her to a paed. I am still kinda undecided on what to do with that one, whether to see a paed or not. I dont think Avaleigh is as serious as Jack or Zyon as she has not been crying non stop in between feeds and I just dont seem to be having it as tough as yourself or Tracey. Avaleigh does cry right after a feed and have a few of the other reflux signs... So I dunno what to do!! She has improved but only slightly so I guess I will still ask to see a paed, just to make sure everything is OK.
Fran - have you tried putting Alessia under her play gym while you and get something to eat?? I waws the same when Avaleigh started not sleeping during the day, I was starving myself!! Now I just put her under her play gym and she is happy to look at what is above her, sometimes she even falls asleep! Hopefully Alessia is just going through a small awake phase and will get back to sleeping!! Cause I know how difficult it is to do things when your bubba is awake all day long.
Bridee - dont apologise for the selfish post. I would be having the same thoughts too cause we all want our babies to be perfect... *hugs*
August Moon Mum - OMG How scarey!
Jem - Avaleigh feeds all different amounts of time! Some times it is only 10mins, the 10 mins are mostly at night and then other times she could feed for about 20mins! I think it depends on how hungry she is.
-
Veronica, I would just trust your gut feeling. That's the biggest lesson I have learnt so far with Jack. If you go into the reflux section and look at the post from Caro called reflux/colic babies and must read or something similiar there is a post from and lady called scarlet on the last page address to me, that will explain why it is probably best to see a paed. You don't want to be like me and regret not getting him seen to earlier. I just keep thinking he wouldn't have had to go through so much pain if I had just trusted my gut and when with it. I love my doc to bits and even though she was right in a sort of way, I think that somethings are better left to a specialist IYKWIM. I hope this doesn't sound pushy, or nasty because I totally don't mean for it to. I just think you should trust your motherly instinct.
-
Hi Ladies
I am going to take note of how long it takes me to do this post as ethan is going through a growth spurt and has been very "demanding" all day and wont settle unless he is in my arms. I should get a HAB too!!
Veronica- Hows avaleigh doing? I too would just go with your gut instinct, and maybe taking her to a paed would be a good idea at least that way if things aren't right then you can get them under control and if she's ok then you will feel better knowing that.
Jem- Yep it sounds like charlotte is feeding just fine, when i was still b/f ethan he would do 10-15 minute feeds at night and during the day 10-30 minute feeds. You must be run off your feet with three little one' s, but sound like your doing real well, good on you:)
Mel- Glad things are on the right track for you and your babies, poor things. It sounds tough but your doing great hun. Hope it all settles soon.
Fran- Its not good when our bubs dont give us time to eat, i have to admit my diet is pretty bad atm, i find im really hungry during night feeds but to tired then its a case of eating on the run during the day. Sorry that your still having some b/f problems, you are doing really well though and i hope that you can continue, but remember that if you have to stop, that your not a bad mum or anything ok because your not. I was devastated that i had to stop b/f ethan and it took a huge talk with my mum to convince me that im not a bad mum, and that i hadn't failed or let anyone down. And ethan is doing really well too. Hugs hun, goodluck with it all.
Bridee- Huge hugs for you. sorry to hear about georgie's hips and hope you have some luck getting everything sorted with the paed tomorrow. Your not at all silly for thinking that, as everyone else has said we all want our babies to be perfect.
Bec- Sounds like xavier loves the HAB, it sounds like they are a good thing to have, hmmm...!! Hope your all doing well.
August moon mum- Gee you poor thing, that must have given you a fright. Really sorry, i hope your DP is ok now.
Well it has been a few busy days here atm, On monday ethan, my mum and myself took part in a mums and bubs walk, it was great and was a really good turn out for a small town, it must have looked strange, 30+ prams making there way up the main street, lol. It was nice to meet some other mums too, ethan was the youngest then there was an 8wk old baby girl then the next up would have been about 5mths. That afternoon Dh, ethan and i went to Albany for a night away, was nice to get out of the house for awhile, we stayed at a motel and took ethan in the spa with us, he loved it but didnt take him in for long, didnt want to overheat him, he cried when i took him out, which he now does everytime i take him out the bath or shower, he has turned into a real water baby now!! We also booked in to have some prof photos done in a few weeks, i really cant wait for that.
We had our 6 wks check up today Ethan now weighs 4.5kgs (3.2kgs @ birth) is 54cm long (48cm @ birth) and his H/C is now 39cm (35cm @ birth) Gee they grow fast!! Dr only had one concern which is that his right testis is larger than the left, but he will review that in 2 weeks when we go back for immunisations:(
Well this post was started at 8.40pm and its now 10.47pm!!! Ethan has had me stop starting for 2 hrs, lol now he is having another 3 minute kip in my arms!!
Oh and this is my exciting news...Ethan rolled over for the first time on monday!! i think he was just as shocked as i was lol, he has done it 3 times now, i am very proud of my little man:D Now i just want more smiles...i still haven't caught one on camera yet and he doesn't do them very often!!
Okay ladies Goodnight to you all, hope you all have lovely days tomorrow.
-
( I somehow managed to close my window and I wrote a huge post!!!)
Mel - I dont think that you sound pushy or nasty. You are jsut saying it as it is because you have gone through it. And I think I will trust my motherly instincts and go and see a paed, if nothing is wrong, then great! But if there is something wrong, then atleast we will be on the way to getting Avaleigh better. How is Jack today?
Jessikah - Thats great growth from Ethan!! Avaleigh is going in for her 6 wk check up today so it will be amazing to see how much she has grown.
Avaleigh is asleep at the moment. We had an OK night. There was actually no co-sleeping but Avaleigh was grunting and grizzling a bit in her bassinette. I am still sleeping out on the couch. Jason asked when I was coming back to bed and I said soon. I am starting to put Avaleigh to sleep in her cot during the day and once she is sleeping in that, I will start putting her in at night. She has gone in her cot a few times but normally just lays there and watches her mobile go round!!
Hope everyone is well.
I've just read the rest of the thread created by Caro (relux/colic/windy baby) and the thread that Tracey created about silent reflux and I am definitely going to see a paed. I will mention all this to the CHN today and see what they say. I will make an appt with my doctor today and get a referral to see a paed and hopefully I can get in there nice and quick and get Avaleigh all better!! She is awake now, only slept 1 hr since her last feed. I am going to have a shower and take her out for a walk so hopefully she can sleep a little more.
-
Hi All,
Thanks for your support. Paed called yesterday and has arranged for us to see Orthapedic surgeon next Thursday. He told me her right hip is completely dislocated and left is slightly immature. So the right hip is the bigger problem. Not sure if the brace will be fitted next Thursday.
As everyone has said weare pleased it has been picked up early, at least she isn't at the stage of wanting to move around - she is happy to be flat on her back.
On another matter, a tip for those with unsettled babies (Georgie was yesterday evening, I swear she was picking up on DH and mine being upset), to help settle babies, hold them while you sit bouncing on a fit ball. The paed physio I saw on Monday told me this, I tried it last night and it worked, within 1-2 bounces she had stopped crying. The problem is it is tiring but I was thinking of it as exercise. Apparently it has something to do with there inner ear.
-
Hi all
Bridee. It is good that the hip problem has been found out now, I think it is more common than you would think. I know of other babies who have had to have a brace and they are doing great now. Great tip on the fit ball too.
Fran, I know how you feel, Xavier decided day time sleep was for suckers this week, the HAB has been my saving grace. Even though he's now attached to me, he is also actually getting sleep and isn't in so much of a filthy mood. and when he was awake all the time he constantly wanted food. it also means i can eat, although with difficulty. I have been finding it hard to get food organised for me.
Mel, glad to hear you have some answers. I hope it all works out and that you have a very happy bubba, big sis and mum in no time at all.
Jemima, I got a nice black one. to make me look slim ;) sry couldn't help myself. Today I was wearing him while I fed the dogs, and he could hear all these noises behind him and didn't know what was going on, he was intrigued it was so cute.
Veronica, I'm with mel, go see the pead, esp 'cause it sounds like jacks and zyons was gradual. You might catch something early.
I don't know how you manage to get avaleigh to just lie under a play gym, Xavier will have nothing of it.
Jesikah, he appears to like his HAB, that or he just likes being straped to me. you should try one they are great, and so comfy you just have to watch for the crumbs you drop on bubs head . How good your walk sounded too.
Well the weeks sure are moving fast and these little bubs do grow quick huh. almost at 5 weeks, and before you know it we will be at 6 weeks. I got proper smiles this morning, don't know if they were actually for me or the reflection in my glasses  but they were in my general direction. I look down at him while he's feeding and I swear he has grown in length again.
Well today I best not come back to the computer, although I'm sure I will as more often than not I get into live chat and stay there until Nathan gets home from work.
Bye all hope you have a good day.
-
Hi there everyone,
Been busy packing for our trip tomorrow, so havent been around much.
Hope you are all going well.
We have got Lach on wind drops, but only use them for one feed at night, when he is at his worst... he seems tohave a really bad cranky speel between 8pm and midnight. It's not too bad now that I expect it to happen, but early in the week it was hell.
I saw a couple of girls who were in my birthing classes on tuesday, and Im amazed at how much bigger lach is than their little girls are. ALthought their little girls are only 2 weeks old, I do not remember Lach being that tiny!!! He is def gonna be one giant kiddie!
I will be having my first mothers group thing next tuesday. I am looking forwrd to meeting a few new faces. Its goes for 6 weeks, and at the end we all go out for a meal or coffee. Hopefully I can make a few friends in the group and catch up with them on a regular basis.
I played netball for the first time in over 2 years on tuesday night!
It felt so good getting back into sport, and I can still shoot pretty well! lol
The team won their first game all season and they have asked me to be their Goal shooter on a permanent basis... I can't wait!
Well, off to wagga tomorrow. We will be leaving at sparrows fart. lol
Whenever Lach has had a feed anytime from 5 am, we are leaving. Should only need to stop for a feed once on the way up. Hopefully, the car ride goes well. I can't wait to see my sis. SHe is going to freak out when she sees Lach. He has changed HEAPS!!!
We are having a few bfing issues here... hes being very fussy, and hates feeding from right side, no matter what position I put him in.
I tried using a nipple sheild, and he fed heap better from it. I also expressed into a bottle and he loved it!
He drank 150ml and still wanted more!!!
I think he hates my right side cos its too full and it lets down far too quickly for him to keep up.
Hopefully it will sort itself out, otherwise I will go and see a lactation consultant.. as I really want this breast feeding to work.
Well guys, have a great next 5 days. I will pop back in on tuesday and see how you all are going.
Hugs and sleep vibes to all mummas and bubbas

I am back to the land of the living!
Basically We have spent time at the Royal childrens Hospital (Fathers Day!) & then yesterday at the Angliss where Zyon was born...
Finally being told yesterday he has silent reflux & he si now on Gaviscon & I have an appt to see someone tomorrow about it! I am like Mel, kicking myself for listening to ****ers who dont know or feeling like a neurotic Mummy & not trusting my instincts!
Mel,
I was told at the RCH that he was simply a needy baby, with beahvioural problems as we have always tended to his cries!!!! She also said she thought he was Lactose Intolerant, but it's now deemed UN TRUE! She had also told me to give up the breast & give him Lactose free formula which I did Sunbday night & Monday morning but after a few bottles & no difference I put him back on the breast!
So you might not really need the Lacteze, he may not REALLY be LI!???
I am so so angry at the MCHN & will let rip at her next appt, also my GP as these ppl both told me he needed settling school & sleep school as he was crying to get my attention!!! Isnt that why babies cry anyways? I was told to let him cry it out & put him self to sleep!
I never did (thank god) but I knew my son was in pain...!
Finally after sobbing to the Midwives to bring my 6wk check up earlier I went in yesterday & the lady knew immediately.. She looked at his weight gain which has been over 1.5kgs since birth, plus his sodden wet nappies, the arching of the back, hiccuping, seeming to swallow & then screech in pain & he will sleep hours & hours upright in the HAB!
So she gave me the name of a Dr to see whom I am seeing tomorrow (well her partner & if she cant give me answers they'll discuss it, as the1 I need to see is booked 3+ wks in advance!)
I saw a chiro today & he gave me some natural stuff to take that will pass through my breast milk & help mature Zy's guts & also 1 for weakening the acidity in his gut!
He has had gaviscon since Tuesday afternoon & slept 4+hours between is night feeds the last 2 night! OMG I feel brand new, we were getting 25mins at the VERY most!!!
PLEASE, trust in yourself & your instincts is all i can say. I also removed Dairy from my diet as the MW explained that the Dairy Protein sits in bubba's tummies & doesnt digest quickly like breast milk, therefore it sits there & regurgitates back & fourth causing the reflux & so no dairy for me, but she also ex-lained that after 2 yrs of age our bodies dont really absorb much calcium from Milk & it's not necessary in our diets (the commercials are because Dairy is 1 of our major commodities!)
So no milk/dairy for now...
I also am P'd off at the paed whose first comment was....... Is this your first??? Hmm, Nope #3 I smiled back! I think if I had said YES, she'd have fobbed us off, it just seemed like we were making it up!
I am so glad & relieved that I am getting answers, NO BABY SCREAMS IN PAIN 24/7! But MCHN, GP & Paed believed they do!!!
Well I havent read everyone's posts too much to catch up on..
I just wnated to share & if you think something isnt right, get it checked & if they fob you off get a nother opinion!!!!

Hi girls...we had a visit with the MCHN today and Alessia has put on some weight...not alot...but I guess any gain is better than a loss. She only put on 80g in 9 days. The nurse seems to think this may be linked to my very sore boobies...who knows. I've booked another stay at a breastfeeding clinic in a week and a half's time so we can get some more help. We'll get there...through the pain...although I must say my nipples hurt all the time now :( At least it's not thrush (MCHN checked this).
Alessia is one very long little girl! At birth, she was 51cm and now she's 56.5cm! No wonder her growsuits are getting a bit tight! That puts her in the 90th percentile!
Anyvays...onto some personals while she sleeps!
Rebecca Oh I'm hearing you on the crumbs! I had Alessia in the HAB yesterday and regretted getting black when I ate a biscuit that had icing sugar on it! *lol* How cute that you are getting more smiles from Xavier. Any chance of seeing some more photos of your cutie pie?
Bridee Big hugs!!! *hugs* Definitely here with the other girls in that better the problem be picked up now rather than later. What I think is great though, is that you are getting appts and so forth organised quick smart. I just hate waiting weeks and months for appts!
Veronica How did you go with Avaleigh's 6 week checkup? She definitely looks like she's grown a lot from your photos...can't wait to hear the stats! It can't hurt to see a paed if you are concerned that Avaleigh has silent reflux. I've booked Alessia in to have a follow up appt from the hospital (b/c she was jaundiced) even though everything is ok now.
Jessikah Thank you for your words of support regarding my struggle with breastfeeding. Knowing that you know exactly what I've gone through helps and yes, if I need to give her formula I can make my peace with that. I just don't want to regret not trying to sort out our problems if the help is there...admittedly it's darn hard to get it! Well done for Ethan's growth!!! That's a great weight gain!
Jem 9 weeks off with my hubby would have been a dream...unfortunately I had to be content wih 3. Admittedly though, I'm finding it harder moreso, b/c my mum and sister who would have normally been able to come by and give me a hand, have been really ill...so it's just me and Alessia until David comes home. I definitely can sympathise with the clock watching! The fact that you have a spare 5 minutes to jump on the computer is awesome...must be testament to the fact that you are 1 organised mumma!
Mel That's great news that you're making progress with Jack! You should be so proud of yourself that you have worked so hard to help him out! *hugs*
Okies little miss is cracking it so I better hop off! Take care everyone!

Hi all
Tracey, you go kick some @$$. My sis had a couple of docs and nurses treat her like that too. It's not on, regardless if it's your first second or 10th even. they don't hear all the cries and spend 24/7 with the bubs. Besides I didn't think babies that young were capable of that level of manipulation, and there is a definet difference between attention crying and the blood curdling pain cry. You are doing all mums a service by standing up for yourself :clap:
Fran you are doing great, but I wonder if when they weighed allesia they considered the great length. she may have only gained 90gm, but 4.5 cm in less than 4 weeks, maybe all the effort went into lengthening those bones. I know you said you had a nipple cream but when you go back into the breast feeding clinic ask them if they recommend one. My hospital offered me a sample of the marcalan, but I already had the tube my sister passed onto me.
I will try to get some more pics on soon, our website has some but it doesn't seem to be working, so will have the link for that one back soon.
Nicki have a nice trip, how exciting your first big family trip. My MCHN didn't even tell me anything about mothers groups, I really should have asked though. Personally I think that's one of the first things they should organise. I think being with other people is really important part, 'cause if I go insane everyone will suffer.
Well i'm tempting fate being on here, i swear xav has a 6th sense for knowing when i sit down at the computer, and he has actually slept in his bed today!! yay I think he may have just been overtired so the bed wasn't doing it for him, a couple of days of good sleep in the HAB and he's a new little man. I'm glad too if he had gotten too used to sleeping in mums arms I don't know what I would have done.
Well best go while the going's good, i've even half preped tea, i'm on fire today, and Nathan might be home early from work.
Catch ya's all later

Hi everyone
Rebecca - I hear you on the HAB and crumbs in bub's hair. I have resorted to putting one on my hats on Diana's head when I eat something and she is in her carrier. That way, any crums just fall on my hat and don't reach her.
Tracey - OMG, poor you and Zyon, being treated like that by people deemed to be professionals. It makes me so angry whenever I hear anyone saying that you are spoiling your baby by attending to them. How can a child so young have behavioural problems? Stupid people! Good on you for standing up for yourself. Hope that you and Zyon are doing better. Hugs.
Fran - good on you for perservering with breastfeeding. Hope it gets easier for you soon. Was Alessia weighed on the same scale as the previous time? Different scales can account for a lot of variations in bub's weight. I once weighed Diana on two different scales on consecutive days and one scale read about 500g more than the other. Seriously! Yesterday I weighed her on a different scale than normal and she only seems to have only put on about 50g in 8 days. I am hoping that this is just the scale and that she has put on more than that (or maybe she was so light because I weighed her after she had done a HUGE poop, lol.
Bridee - hope the treatment works and that Georgie's hips heal soon.
Nicki - hope your trip goes well. Good luck.
Veronica - like Tracey said - if you feel that there is a problem you should definitely trust your instincts and take Avaleigh to a paed. Hope it all goes well and she gets better soon.
Things are ploddding along okay at my end. Diana is 11 weeks old now! She is still a very good and content baby (please don't hate me ), although she has yet to sleep for more than about 4 hours at a time during the night. How do you ladies do it?

Hey Everyone
Avaleigh's poo has gone a dark green today, should I be worried?? She hasnt dont a full poo, just a skid mark so I am wondering what her full poo will be like. I guess I will see with the next nappy change..
-
Veronica, Zyon only ever did 4 or so yellowish poo's when he had the lactpose free formula, his have always been green...
I am seeing another DR today & will ask her, but I was told weeks ago poo is poo dont worry about the colour & that green poo just means that it is going through their system quickly?
-
Hi all,
Zofia lol at the hat, good idea though.
Veronica, Xaviers poo fluctuates between yellow and green quite often. I think it has something to do with what I eat. maybe it's chocolate, as I have not been very good at avoiding it. Have you eaten anything new recently? or any of the non recommended foods while bf? just a thought.
-
Hmm maybe! You knows.. haha just a shock to see green poo when they have all been yellow!! Avaleigh just had a dirty nappy (and I think she has another for me!) and its back to the yellow poo so maybe it was just something odd in her system??
Just called and made an appt with my doctor today. We are going in to see him at 11.20 and I am going to ask to see a paed.
Oh our appt with the CHN yesterday went well. I told her that I thought Avaleigh has reflux and she asked why, I told her all my reasons and she said that yes sounds like she has reflux and that I can get infant gaviscon if I need it. I also told her that Avaleigh is not sleeping during the day in her bed, only sleep when someone is holding her and she told me I have to train her to sleep. She said that I have to feed her, play with her and then put her to bed and if she wakes up again I need to go in and soothe her to go back to sleep, turn a mobile on and then leave her once she falls asleep. hmmm But I am not too sure how to do that with a reflux baby!! Cause you are told to keep them upright after a feed for atleast 30 mins and by the time the 30 mins is over, she is asleep!! But then when she goes to bed, she wakes up.. hmm cant win!! I might not worry too much about it for now, I will wait and see what the paed says.
Oh and she weighs 4.890kg and is 58cm long!! So she has gained 1.38kg and has grown 7cm!!!
Rebecca - I dont think I have eaten anything different and I am not eating chocolate. Its been 2 weeks since I last had chocolate!! AHHHH I want some! LOL
-
Wow V, yey on Avalieghs weight gain. Jack doesn't sleep in hit bassinet during the day either. But he does sleep in his automatic rocker, god love that thing. We have it on top of the table so Charlee can't get to it.:p If it weren't for that I would have to carry him all the time too. I think the motion of being held or the motion of the rocker helps soothes his tummy, I don't know it's just a guess, but it works for us. Do you have an automatic rocker or swing? That might help her to settle on her own?????? Good luck at the paed.
Fran sorry to hear your still having some probs with B/F. But a weight gain is always better than a weight loss. So your still doing a fantastic job. Hope you get some answers at your next appointment.
Zofia, glad to hear Diana is a great bub for you.
Rebecca, wow your a super mum. Yey on the good day yesterday, hope the your well prepared dinner was yummy. at Xavier 6th sense, I think they do too.;)
Tracey, hope Zyon is still improving, how did he go last night?
Hi to everyone else.
Well ladies don't have too much time to chat, we have another open house tomorrow, so busy cleaning today:wall: I hate it!!!! Fingres crossed tomorrow we find a real buyer.
Jack is a little better, but I think it may be more from the mylanta than the zantac, who knows, but he is a little better and thats the important thing.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

The good and the bad
Hi everyone
We had a public holiday in Sydney today, so Diana and I got to have a bit of a sleep in :) Then during the day we all went ot have a look at the APEC fence and the goings on in the city (most disappointing, the news made it seem like the whole city was fenced off, but it was only about one street - lots of security and police around though - there were even several police buses(!), the like of which I'd never seen before).
Anyway, Diana did another poo in the potty this afternoon! I went to change her nappy and it was clean, so I put her on the potty and she did a poo and a wee. Woo hoo! (Then I took her off and she did another poo on the changing mat, but that's not her fault.) So proud of her. That's "the good" I refer to in the title of this post.
Now for "the bad". Diana rolled off the couch and fell on the floor tonight. Poor little thing. I was feeding her, when I heard some commotion from the kitchen. Stan then ran out, holding his hand. He had cut his finger rather badly (sliced part of the nail right off) and was in a bit of a panic/daze unsure what to do next. I quickly put Diana down and went to look for a plaster and cotton wool to give him, and the next thing I hear is a distressed baby crying and see that Diana is on the floor. I felt sooo bad. I picked her up and burst into tears myself. Fortunately Stan had by this point regained enough sense to look after himself as all I could do was comfort my poor baby. She seems all right now (she is sleeping on my chest as I write this), but it was such a horrible moment. I pray and hope  that she didn't get concussed or anything. Has this type of thing happened to anyone before? Are there any signs that I should look for to make sure that she is all right? She fell on to a carpeted floor, so that should have cushined her fall...? I'm worried. :(
-
Ohh Zofia, you poor thing. I am so worried about the day it will happen to me!!! I am sure she is okay. The midwife at the hospital said that you cant break little babies, so I am sure she is okay. If she shows signs of not being 'normal' I would take her ot the hospital/doctor for a check up. Babies are more durable than we think!!
I know what you mean about the APEC- it has taken over the city (they got the busses and water cannon especially for the protests). They were ment to be huge protests, but watching the new this morning they arent as big or as bad as what they were ment to be.
Well a bit of a selfish post today... sorry guys.
Kaetlyn has been really good, up until yesterday. She woke up for her morning feed, and then wouldnt get back till sleep until about 3pm. She was crying and only stopped when I held her. She had bad wind, and ended up farting it out. She normally does 3-4 gianormous burps but didnt yesterday. Today she has woken up 'on the right side of the cot' so to speak;) Ifeel so sorry for you guys whos bubbas are like this all the time. I am lucky to have been blessed with such a wonderful daughter, it just makes the bad times so much worse.
She is currentlyy sitting in her rocker beside me kicking about and lauging (at me I guess).
Aaron has now worked the past 7 days (for this stupid APEC). He finishes about 3 tomorrow morning and then has two days off. Poor thing he has missed Kaetlyn ssssooo much and she is going through a growth spurt and he said she seems ssssoooo big now  He is upset cause they cut his holidays short for the APEC, so he would prob still be on holidays from when sahe was born.
We are currently organising Kaetlyns Baptism- its in three weeks. We had to hold it so soon as its the only weekend my brother can come down from townsville until december, and he is Godfather. He is so excited to be able to meet Kaetlyn finally.
I have made the invites and are getting sent off tomorrow and I am also making her Baptism Gown. It is in gorgous Ivory Satin that has been embroidered, fingers crossed it turns out okay. I haved worked out it is cheaper to buy it but it wont hold the same sentimental vazlue to her when she is older.
Well I had better be off. Its my teams granfinal today for netball and we are going to watch if they weather holds up. I still have to feed me and Kaetlyn. LOL at least I can do both at the same time if i am organised with my lunch!
I cant wait for October- I am playing netball two nights a week- LMAO- to make up for this season that I missed!!
Happy weekend everyone!!!
PS we are going on our first big field trip tomrrow- to newcasztle which is about 2 hours away to see some of Aarons family.

Hey Everyone
Zofia - oh you poor thing!! You must have gotten a real shock to see Diana on the floor. I am sure that she is ok, probably just got a fright! I must say, that I have accidently hit Avaleigh's head on the corner of the computer table, and it wasnt just a knock, it was actually quite hard!! And Avaleigh screamed and cried her little heart out!! I just sat on the floor rocking and trying to comfort her. In the end I started crying too because I couldnt believe that I did it! I felt like the worst mother. She had a red bump on her head too but she woke up the next morning with nothing there!
Sara - It must be such a shock to the system when your baby suddenly turns really unsettled after having such a good baby, I know I would be shocked!!
Avaleigh and I went to my doctor for our 6 week checks. The doctor looked over me and asked me a whole pile of questions and is happy with me. He then looked over Avaleigh and did all her checks and said she is perfect. Avaleigh has a strawberry mark on her side (I thought that the nappy did something to her!!) that he says is going to grow real big before it disappears when she is about 5. I am glad that it is not on her face!! We had a talk about going to see a paed and after a good discussion with him, we decided that we arent going to see a paed. I know that Avaleigh has reflux, but it is only a real mild case of reflux that I can control with the Brauers products. About 90% of the day, Avaleigh is quite happy so I dont think we need to put her on the reflux drugs. I think, really, that deep down I was trying to find something bigger than what there really is. I think I was trying to put Avaleigh's not sleeping on to the reflux , it has got something to do with it, but also I think I dont pay enough attention to her, I know that I should be playing with her and focusing on putting her to sleep. I have been told I need to train her, which I am trying to do know. She has been asleep for over an hour now, which is fantastic!
I am trying to get Avaleigh to sleep in her cot, I didnt realise that it was going to be soo hard!! I dont think she likes it, I put her in it when she is asleep and then 5 mins later she is wide awake and looking around! I am planning to put the bassinette in the cot so she can get used to the surroundings of her room and then after a while take the bassinette away, hopefully that will work!
Oh! We got our new TV today YAYAY! Cant wait to get it set up but Jason is out the front talking to a mate! I better tell him to get a wriggle on.
Take is easy everyone.

Hi all,
Veronica, what cheeky little scalliwags babies are changing all the time, just when we think we're getting used to them. We have had times where xavier just wouldn't sleep in his bed at all, and yet the last few days he's been great! Sometimes I wonder if he's bed is too hot or too cold so if he was drowsey the change in temp wakes him up iykwim. Maybe avaleighs bed isn't as toasty as snuggling in with mum? try putting a heat pack or hot water bottle in before you feed her, then take it out when shes ready to go to bed??
Fran, I look forward to reading your story, I'm off their next.
Zofia, you poor thing, I'm also scared of the day xav falls off something, 'cause as much as I would hate it to happen I think it's inevidable. as the others said I'm sure she's ok. If your really worried about concussion just talk to her and see if she's responisive eg eyes following, turning towards sounds smiling etc. (but I would try that at a time you know she's not tired so you don't stess yourself out just because of a tired baby iykwim.
How clever your little girl is too, she's going to be a breez to toilet train! I'm paying careful attention to how you go, maybe the potty is something we could try for the next bubs. Was it difficult at the start? I imagine boys would be different because they tend to spray with range
I could have shot nathan before, I was in the kitchen and there was a knock at the door, nathan was chaning xav, and left him on the change table while he answered the door. I told him off and he was like he's fine, grr I said yes but one day he will fall off. Change tables are twice as high as a couch and a knock at the door is not a valid distraction.
Mel I hope it's your weekend, I'm sure the person who's buying your house has been through it today and is just getting ready to make an offer.
Sara, poor katleyn, Hopefully it was only one day and isn't continuing. even if all you have to do is cuddle for some reason it's very tiring huh?
Her baptism dress sounds lovley, aren't you clever and crafty to make one. I can only really sew square things
Well I'm really sorry but i have to share fantastic news. Xavier fed at about 8.30 last night after happily playing on the floor with dad for about 30 mins, and then fel into a deep sleep. He was asleep and in bed by about 9.15 and didn't wake up uuntil 4.15 am!! yes that's 7 hours!! I was so happy. Then after feeding him at 4.45am he was staring up at me smiling. At first I didn't think he was going to go back to sleep, but in the end I just put him back in his cot and walked away. He then slept till 7.30 when I nudged nathan and said your turn (being saturday and all) Nathan got him up, changed him played a little, then when he started getting grizzly he went and had a shower with him. they came back at 8.30 and I'd fallen asleep again
Needless to say i'm pretty happy with that.
Only problem right now is we have to go to my mums for tea soon, and he's fast asleep, i don't want to wake him.
Well wishing you all a good night tonight and hopefully a sleep in of sorts in the morning.
-
Hi all, just popping in for a quick one...have had a busy day with visitors and shopping - had to buy a new baby bath b/c Alessia was launching herself in the old bath, to almost jump out of the water. Hard to explain, but b/c she's so long, we needed a new bath! Take care everyone, and I hope you're having an awesome weekend!!!
-
Hi,
Finally got some more pics of Xavier on the net. although they are about 5 weeks old
