Have you read all 4 books?

No, just the first one so far, waiting for my gf to find the rest of her books

    Which one was your favourite?

The first one so far... although I will update this later.

    Have you seen the movie?

    Yes and I hated it.

    What did you think?

IIt was so flawed, the character respresentation of edward SUCKED! He is over a 100 yrs old, he would not fumble and stutter over his words. In the book he was so exact in what he wanted and what he knew, he had an awesome sense of humour which was very attractive to me and it wasn't even portrayed in the movie. The movie didn't do much for me it all. It didn't develop any of the characters enough to understand them. Even DH who hasn't read the book said the movie was so choppy he imagined there would be so much of the movie on the editing room floor. The only time we really got to see a glimpse of the true Edward was towards the very end of the movie, when he was confident and calm. I thought TBH he was the worst actor I have ever seen, way too wooden. And I really don't think they read any of the text describing the characters at all, especially edward. What was with that big boofy "James Dean" like hair. Soooo annoying, and from a design perspective why didn't they adjust the makeup to suit the lighting that was annoying me too. The other thing I wanted to see more of was his driving heh, in the book it is quite noted how precise and FAST he drives... yet you really wouldn't get that from the movie unless you had seen the book and put two and two together. The father character was also more passive in the book than on screen. The other thing that was COMPLETELY flawed was the way they portrayed Edward to be "like" a teenager, another big part of the book is that neither of them were like regular teenagers. He was been alive for over 100 yrs he wouldn't fumble or sook like a teenager he would brood like a man, and I saw none of that wisdom that he has in the book. ANNOYING! And she wasn't EVER scared. She was very firm with that, I hated how she fumbled over it in the movie through that damn annoying heavy panting LOL. She was way more empowered in the book.

Are you an Edward or a Jacob fan?

    Edward.

    Why?

His personality reminds me of DH, we even talked about it after watching the movie. That cute protective streak that Edward has for Bella is exactly like DH. He is very gallant and strides in to keep me safe especially when I least expect it (and often most need it) I also like his sense of humor (in the book) also very similar to DH.

    What is your favourite quote?

    The goth in me loves...

"Death is peaceful. Its life thats hard." - Bella

Have you read all 4 books? Which one was your favourite?
Of course!! I can't pick, umm...maybe Breaking Dawn.

Have you seen the movie? What did you think?
Yes, I thought it was crap! I agree most of what Cai said! I didn't like Edward at all, I thought Bella was alright probably bc she looked most like how I imagined in my head. Some of it was way too corny and cheesy and they didn't explain everything enough!! They spent way too much time on the unimportant bits and then rushed through the end!! And what was with their hissing noises when they met the other vampires at the baseball game, rofl, they sounded like kittens!! That bit really annoyed me, they're supposed to be scary. I don't think it explained the whole vampire thing very well at all.

Are you an Edward or a Jacob fan? Why?
mmm.... Edward. Isn't he just every girls fantasy, all protective and so in love with her!! Jacob is alright but he annoyed me, get over it she doesn't want you!!

    What is your favourite quote?
Oh, so many, I don't know!
You're intoxicated by my very presence. (Edward) - Yes, true!! lol
They have a name for someone who smells the way Bella does to me. They call her my singer - because her blood sings for me. (Edward)

Cai, your spot on with your movie comments! Edward was not the strong type portrayed in the book and Bella was a simpering mess instead of unphased by it all. I think the actor who plays Edward was done an injustice, he fits his description and def has the acting potential to portray him properly but the script sucked.

ETA - did anyone else think the actors playing the Cullens were spot on!? Esp Alice, exactly how I imagined her.

I can see where you guys are coming from with the movie... however i did love it and cant wait to see it again..... i think they missed alot of important things and wished the movie went for longer to fit them in... I went with DP (he didnt really want to go but knew how much i loved the books) and i kept telling him that this happened because of.... or in the book it was like this...

Anna yeah i pictured Alice like that.... i dont think they could have picked anyone better.... lol at the start i thought Jasper looked so weird.... i had to laugh.... tho since reading all the books i think they are all spot on
Oh also i didnt picture Jacob like that in my head.... i'm not sure what i was expecting

Apprently i read that the 3rd movie is coming out in June or July next year so not to much of await after New Moon

Hmm yeah the Jacob actor was not what I pictured. As for Jasper, yep now Im halfway through New Moon I def think the actor portrays him well. Thought he looked a bit drugged in the movie but makes sense now lol

Can I just say I thought the baseball scene was great, I was so hoping theyd include it in the movie.

Now I had better get all the books read before the end of the year so I can watch the movies afterward.

Cai agree to with you on the movie. But they had a minimal budget so maybe that why they didnt get into the characters more? I wish they would have shown Jaspers abilities and the part in the ballet studio when James tells Bella about Alice! Edward was different to how I pictured him in the book but maybe he played him like that cause that's how he thought he was? My wise friend said one day the book is the bible and the movie is eye candy and so we have a picture of the characters lol!

Apparently i read that the 3rd movie is coming out in June or July next year so not to much of await after New Moon
I hope they dont rush it out! I will be happy t wait so they do a good job!

Jasper looks like Edward scissor hands lol!

So how is your favourite character besides Edward?

Mine is Carlisle, I like his ethical stance on being a vampire and how even though he is one person he has chosen to change his way for the greater good!

yeah i have to go with my fav second as Carlisle too. i'm sure that if the books were about him, he'd be my fav, as i think he and edward are at the base of it fairly similar in traits IYKWIM.

hmm, yeah thats right, the movie missed some really key (or at least IMO) scenes. hope they have the better budget to get it better this time (including the makeup!!).

I seriously wasnt feeling the love for the movie edward. as cai mentioned i felt that he couldnt really portray his longevity masquerading as a teen well enough. hopefully with some acting coaching and stronger direction etc that will iron itself out.

i also didnt think that rosalie was wardrobed right. she is meant to be the height of fashion and beauty and i kinda felt that in every scene she looked dishevelled.

    Yay Toowoomba!!!!!!
    503

Have you read all 4 books? Which one was your favourite?

yes i have read all four (and a half!) books - went to toowoomba on a holiday bought Twilight on the monday, had it finished by Tuesday morning and went and bought the other 3 and had them read by Thursday afternoon!! I have to say that i love twilight the most (although it is close with breaking dawn!) its the beginning of everything - where they find each other and more importantly - themselves!
Have you seen the movie? What did you think?

Yes i saw the movie - I did enjoy it - not quite as much as the books though. They left a lot out - like developing Bella's clumsiness - you kinda see it but i dont think you see it enough to understand where Edwards's protectiveness comes from. The blood typing scene would have been FANTASTIC to be in the movie. oh and the timeline kinda sucked - what happened to the girls choice dance??
oh and i wish that before i had seen the movie i had read midnight sun because after reading it (and watching the movie again) i could see where Rob Pttinson got his motivation adn ideas from - he does play the character more from Edwards point of view...
Are you an Edward or a Jacob fan? Why?

definitely Edward - can't explain why.......just am!! Do you blame me???
    What is your favourite quote?
there are just too many to choose from - i can't pick just one.

I have read the series SO MANY times now that DH is getting tempted to hide them from me. But i did go to stephenie Myers website and d/load the PDF of midnight sun - and am almost done reading it again - I like o read it after i read twilight and before i start new moon. I sOOO wish she would hurry up and finish it!!
I also read on her site that she loved the Cassandra Clare books - now i have read all three of those too!!!
Hmmm True blood? another series?? who is the author please???

So I'm up to Eclipse now. I'm a bit over half way through. Lovin' it more and more.
I'm trying to not read it that fast so I don't have to wait for the next book. They're my sister's books. I totally should buy a set of my own, I think.

The soundtrack was unbelievably amazing though - kudos to whoever chose the score. Especially Bella's Lullaby - great work by Carter Burwell there, it is just mesmerising.
    I couldn't agree more!!!!

Have you read all 4 books? Which one was your favourite?

Yes (in 9 days ) and can't decide between Twilight and Eclipse, although I do like Breaking Dawn too, what can I say, I'm a scucker for happy endings! I did like New Moon too, but I did race through it so Edward would be back..lol! All in all, love the books, and cant wait to read them again and again!

Have you seen the movie? What did you think?

Yes, and absolutely love it. Although there are some differences b/w the book and movie, the bulk of the movie reflects the book well, and I can appreciated that the differences were necessary to bring it to the big screen. I too agree that the soundtrack is amazing, I listen to it constantly, it really is mesmerising, and I love the songs by Rob Pattinson, his voice it incredible!

Are you an Edward or a Jacob fan? Why?

Definitely Edward because he loves Bella so much and his whloe life revolves around what makes her happy. I do like Jacob as a character, I just dont think he was right for Bella.

    What is your favourite quote?

"You are my life now" Edward to Bella.............oh, swoon!

Yesterday I was googling all things Twilight, and I came across some forums and articles about Breaking Dawn. It seems that there was many unhappy fans who thought SM sold out, and that it was nowhere near as good as the others, and a crap ending, too much sex, not enough romance etc. I for one was very happy with it, and cant really understand the backlash. Given that there'd been no sex for the first 3 books, it was enivitable after they were married, and then they had Renesmee and were preparing for a battle, so was kinda hard to include a heap of romance. Anyone else have any thoughts on this???

Have you read all 4 books? Which one was your favourite?

Yep I read all 4 n 3 days. Very addictive. Breaking Dawn has to be my favourite, and least favourite is New Moon.

Have you seen the movie? What did you think?

Yes I saw the movie first. I loved the movie, until I read the books. I too understand that there are always going to be differences between the two as they cram the whole book into a movie. I just thought they could have made the movie a bit longer to fit in some more important story telling detail.

Are you an Edward or a Jacob fan? Why?

If you're asking which one I think is "the one" for Bellah - Definitely Edward. As characters though I loved them both equally. I don't think Jacob really appealed to me until New Moon though, took me a bit to warm to him.

    What is your favourite quote?

Bella, I couldn?t live with myself if I ever hurt you. You don?t know how it?s tortured me. The thought of you, still, white, cold? to never see you blush scarlet again, to never see that flash of intuition in your eyes when you see through my pretenses? it would be unendurable. You are the most important thing to me now. The most important thing to me ever.
Edward Cullen, Twilight, Chapter 13, p.274

Isn?t it supposed to be like this? The glory of first love, and all that. It?s incredible, isn?t it, the difference between reading about something, seeing it in the pictures, and experiencing it?
Edward Cullen, Twilight, Chapter 14, p.302

Before you, Bella, my life was like a moonless night. Very dark, but there were stars?points of light and reason? And then you shot across my sky like a meteor. Suddenly everything was on fire; there was brilliancy, there was beauty. When you were gone, when the meteor had fallen over the horizon, everything went black. Nothing had changed, but my eyes were blinded by the light. I couldn?t see the stars anymore. And there was no more reason for anything.
Edward Cullen, New Moon, Chapter 23, p.514

I agree with the PP about Breaking Dawn. I thought it was a fantastic ending. There was a lot of sex, but it was used to show Edward and Bellahs incredible attraction to each other. Not over the top at all in my opinion.

Welcome to our group Rainbow Raver!

I'm sure you will love the books as much as you did the movie. Like you I saw the movie first, and am hooked on both. Admittedly, i watched the movie 3 times in 24 hours last weekend My DH just thinks I am a complete tragic at the moment, and honestly, i dont blame him

Hope you enjoy the books, and cant wait to hear what you think of em

Have you read all 4 books? Which one was your favourite?

Yes. I finished on the weekend & started reading Twlight again plus have downloaded Midnight Sun. Twlight was my favourite. I loved watching Bella & Edwards love develop and 'meeting' all the characters. I was a bit annoyed with Breaking Dawn. It skipped too much over Bella & Edwards love. I think this should have developed more, particularly as a married couple. There were hints of how firey their relationship was, but nothing but a let down. Also, I was a bit blown away that when Bella was developing her power that Edward wasn't enough, she relied on Renesmee. I get the whole child thing, but their love was suppose to be IT.....

Have you seen the movie? What did you think?

No, not yet. I am avoiding it a bit due to the mixed reactions (more so that it was not that good), but I bought the DVD tonight and am going to veg out tomorrow & watch it - even if it's for a perve! DH is hogging the TV...... Also want to get a copy of the soundtrack.

Are you an Edward or a Jacob fan? Why?

I would say Edward. Jacob sort of annoyed me & overstepped the boundaries sometimes when putting the pressure on Bella to chose him - reminded me of a guy who would't take no for an answer from me. Although Jacob is a bit cheeky & cute, Edward just makes me almost stop breathing...... I have to say though that whilst I didn't warm to Emmetts character, he is pretty hot looking!

    What is your favourite quote?

There are quite a few, but the one that stands out the most is:

'Before you, Bella, my life was like a moonless night. Very dark, but there were stars, points of light and reason. And then you shot across my sky like a meteor. Suddenly everything was on fire; there was brilliancy, there was beauty. When you were gone, when the meteor had fallen over the horizon, everything went black. Nothing had changed, but my eyes were blinded by the light. I couldn't see the stars anymore. And there was no more reason for anything.'

At last!!! more people I can talk too that arent pre or pubescent girls!!

Have you read all 4 books? Which one was your favourite?
yep, read all four in about 3 days, then had to read midnight sun (well, as much as I could find!) then I read them again and again and again....
Breaking dawn is deffinately my fave, with twilight a close second, new moon and eclipse just annoyed me, I wanted to skip past all the werewolf crap, who cares about them, give me the vampires!!

Have you seen the movie? What did you think?
yep, I was warned to enjoy the movie as a movie in itself, which I did, so much so that mum bought me a copy for my birthday!
my personal fave bit is the sequence when bella works out that edward is a vampire, there is a scens of her lying on a couch with edward draped over her about to suck her neck....ahhhh...sadly that pic is not in the complete twilight movie companion (which I bought for my equally obsessed 13 yo neice so I could look at the pictures!!)

Are you an Edward or a Jacob fan? Why?
as far as Im concerned, Edward can cover me in bruises, break my headboard and bite my pillows any day!!! need I say more??
although alot of people ask me if the reason I named my son jacob was cos of twilight! I hadnt actually read them then!! so im team edward but I think I will buy the Ilove jacob shirt from supre...

    What is your favourite quote?
there are just too many......most have already been said in here.

Well i have oficcially finished all the books and have just finished watching the movie... and ... well... I have to admit the books are way better - but I did enjoy the movie!
I think what bothered me the most about the movie is it doesn't portray Edwards confidence very well. To me in the book he seems very sure of himself, and he seems the complete oposite in the movie!
Otherwise, the characters have been picked out quite well! Can't wait to see the sequels!
