Twilight Appreciation!

Cai, your spot on with your movie comments! Edward was not the strong type portrayed in the book and Bella was a simpering mess instead of unphased by it all. I think the actor who plays Edward was done an injustice, he fits his description and def has the acting potential to portray him properly but the script sucked.

ETA - did anyone else think the actors playing the Cullens were spot on!? Esp Alice, exactly how I imagined her.

I can see where you guys are coming from with the movie... however i did love it and cant wait to see it again..... i think they missed alot of important things and wished the movie went for longer to fit them in... I went with DP (he didnt really want to go but knew how much i loved the books) and i kept telling him that this happened because of.... or in the book it was like this...

Anna yeah i pictured Alice like that.... i dont think they could have picked anyone better.... lol at the start i thought Jasper looked so weird.... i had to laugh.... tho since reading all the books i think they are all spot on
Oh also i didnt picture Jacob like that in my head.... i'm not sure what i was expecting

Apprently i read that the 3rd movie is coming out in June or July next year

so not to much of await after New Moon

Hmm yeah the Jacob actor was not what I pictured. As for Jasper, yep now Im halfway through New Moon I def think the actor portrays him well. Thought he looked a bit drugged in the movie but makes sense now lol

Can I just say I thought the baseball scene was great, I was so hoping theyd include it in the movie.

Now I had better get all the books read before the end of the year so I can watch the movies afterward.

Cai agree to with you on the movie. But they had a minimal budget so maybe that why they didnt get into the characters more? I wish they would have shown Jaspers abilities and the part in the ballet studio when James tells Bella about Alice! Edward was different to how I pictured him in the book but maybe he played him like that cause that's how he thought he was? My wise friend said one day the book is the bible and the movie is eye candy and so we have a picture of the characters lol!

So how is your favourite character besides Edward?

Mine is Carlisle, I like his ethical stance on being a vampire and how even though he is one person he has chosen to change his way for the greater good!

yeah i have to go with my fav second as Carlisle too. i'm sure that if the books were about him, he'd be my fav, as i think he and edward are at the base of it fairly similar in traits IYKWIM.

hmm, yeah thats right, the movie missed some really key (or at least IMO) scenes. hope they have the better budget to get it better this time (including the makeup!!).

I seriously wasnt feeling the love for the movie edward. as cai mentioned i felt that he couldnt really portray his longevity masquerading as a teen well enough. hopefully with some acting coaching and stronger direction etc that will iron itself out.

i also didnt think that rosalie was wardrobed right. she is meant to be the height of fashion and beauty and i kinda felt that in every scene she looked dishevelled.

Hmmm so I just finished Book 2 - veeeeeeeeeery interesting. Im trying really hard to stop myself from running to the shops and buying #3 and #4

Can wait til tomorrow. What am I going to do when I finish those

ah it is a conundrum when we finish the series. i spent a good half hour chatting to my friend on the phone about our post-twilight plight...i guess re-reading it is all we have left LOL! egad. how many times!!

i made DH go out sometime close to midnight to buy the 3rd and 4th book...i finished the second way too quickly! LOL!

Yes I have read them all but probably rushed through them too much. I think I will read them again soon. I would probably say my favourite was Eclipse but I loved them all.

I really liked it but didn't love it. I always find the movies are never as good as the book, but am looking forward to seeing what they do with New Moon.

Oooh tough one. I really like them both

I love how Edward is so romantic and sweet but I also love how Jacob is a bit cheeky.

I don't actually have one just yet. I think because I read the books so quickly. I think once I read them again I will probably pick up a lot that I missed first time around.

I just finished the 3rd read through of the whole series. My favourite book would be New Moon, closely followed by Twilight. I loved how New Moon introduced Jacob further and the added dimension that Bella loved Edward but Jacob is also an important part to her being too.

I have seen the movie several times. I liked it but I wouldn't say I loved it. I was surprised because I am notorious for hating movies based on books that I have read first. The acting was kind of wooden. I wasn't a fan of some of the casting choices (Bella, Rosalie and Carlisle). Mainly because I have a habit of reading books and picturing the characters based more on their character rather than the physical description the author provides.

Are you an Edward or a Jacob fan? Why?

That is a hard one because I like each of them for different reasons. I really can't pick. I love Edward's romantic nature but I also love Jacob because he is so cheeky.

What is your favourite quote?

My favourite quote is the one where Emmett asks her if she fell down and she responds that she actually punched a werewolf.

I also like the quote (I don't know the exact wording) where Edward thought it would be safer for her without him and to trust her to take up with werewolves. Sorry I don't have access to New Moon to give the exact wording.

My other favourite character is Alice.

I'm just re-reading Twilight now and noticed at the start when Jessica is telling Bella who they all are (Cullens) She said Jasper and Rosalie were twins.... i didnt remember that from when i first read the book.. that is just there cover up story yeah??

LOL me too. Jacob wasn't as I pictured but that's because I just made it up in my head and didn't pay enough attention to what the author said. I didn't picture him with long hair or looking so native american, more just a guy with a tan,

And I always have to picture Edward with black hair for some reason!

Doesnt the author mention in the book the house being old-style? Or am I imagining it (cant be bummed looking through Twilight to find the reference lol)

Yeah Anna im pretty sure it was meant to be an older style house.... with a huge balcony (i could have that wrong)... I pictured Edwards room being HUGE tho... was very small in the movie
I thought they did a good job on Bella's house tho..... not exactly how i pictured the outside tho

Sara - lol yeah im the same with Jacob.. tho it clearly says in the book that he is native american... with long hair

first off it was meant to be white! Thats what bums me the most! But yeah way to modern! Gorgeous house though!

Nikki I love Alice too! I secretly wish I could be her with all those clothes!

i just finished reading the books! took me all of 2 1/2 weeks to finish them all! by far the best was breaking dawn! what an ending!! i think she left room for more to come in the future too... :-)

i actually saw the movie first so i was kinda picturing all the characters and places in my head from the movie so i dont have any issues in that regard.

definately an EDWARD fan!! jacob was never right for bella, he kinda got annoying with all his unrequited love stuff, but in the end (breaking dawn) you can finally see why he never gave up, he knew he was supposed to be in bellas life in some way.. (dont want to give anything away for those who havenet read them all yet).

i actually like edward and the vamps better than bella, she kinda annoyed me with all the 'i'm not good enough' stuff.

second favourite vamp would have to be.. i dunno its hard to choose i liked em all! :-) oh and i agree they didnt dress rosalie properly in the film, she wasnt as stunning as the book described.

one annoying thing, i think it began in eclipse and carried on through breaking dawn... i dindt like the way edward starting calling bella 'love'. he hadnt done it in the previous books so it was a little off putting. eg, ' relax love'. kwim?

but overall a good read, cant wait to see more of the movies.
