Hi Netix, thankyou for the recipe i will give it a go tonight. Yeah my little boy eats anything as well as long as it is food and can go in his mouth he is happy. He has been eating food since he was 3 1/2 months old and eats like a little piggy. Thank you once again, i'll let u know if i need anymore recipes thanks
I'm confused about solids ATM. Can I give my 7mth old egg? Can I use milk in recipes or ahould I use formula?
I was also wondering if anyone has a recipe for polenta bread and soft polenta suitable for a 7mth old.
TIA
Basmati Rice and Vegies
1 small handful of Basmati rice
1/2 a medium sweet potato
1 medium carrot
1 zucchini
4 squash
1 cob of corn
Boil rice according to packet then stand.
Cut vegies into small pieces and cook until tender. Remove corn from cob. Puree everything with a little water. Makes quite alot and freezes well. Olive loves this.
I have a few cornmeal recipes that you may like, and substitute cornmeal for the polenta. Polenta (as far as I know) is basically just a coarser grind than cornmeal.... These are from the same book as those in my last post in this thread.
Hot Corn Cereal (suggests 8 months)
1/4 cup yellow cornmeal
1/4 cup cold water
2 tsp wheatgerm
3/4 cup boiling water
1/4 cup powdered milk (optional)
Mix together cornmeal, cold water and wheatgerm. Bring three quarters of a cup of water to the boil, add the cornmeal mixture and powdered milk if you are using it.
Stirring constantly, bring to the boil and simmer for two minutes. Serve with honey, fresh pureed fruit or, for older children, add raisins or chopped dates.
Cornmeal Mush (suggests 8 months)
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup cornmeal
Bring water to the boil in a small saucepan, slowly stir in cornmeal and cook until mushy; about fifteen minutes.
High Protein Cornbread
1 cup cornmeal
1/3 cup soy flour
1/4 cup whole wheat flour
2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup liquid milk with 1/4 cup powdered milk added
3 tblsp honey
Mix dry ingredients together. Beat liquid ingredients together and add to the dry, beating until smooth. Pour into greased loaf tin and bake about 30 minutes at 190 C.
Delicious hot from the oven for the older members of the family; great toasted for small children and babies over ten months.
In this same book, suggested menus for 6-9 month olds does include hard boiled egg yolk (mashed with half a banana), or as part of a milk shake (fruit, egg yolk, milk, wheatgerm and strained into a bottle for baby). It doesn't say anything about not giving the whites though. I have lent my other good food book to someone, I think it may have something in it further, but I'm not sure. I would give my 7 month old egg, and just use ordinary milk too.
