    Baby shower - food?

My friend wants to make me a baby shower. We're thinking of doing the little cut sandwiches, kinda like a "high tea" thing.

Any fav. that I can make?

Im going to do cucumber ones, chicken salad ones, maybe egg ones.

I've got GD so I have to buy the low GI bread.

Smoked salmon and cream cheese is usually a winner.

Ooohh I second smoked salmon and cream cheese. It's cheaper if you buy offcuts of smoked salmon (some delis sell it and it's cheaper because they are not full slices) and chop them up finely and mix with cream cheese, herbs (esp dill) and lemon zest/juice. Spread on the sandwhich and they stick together nicely - the layers won't fall apart.

Another suggestion for a "high-tea" theme would be mini quiche made in patty pans - you can make ahead and serve cold.

    Sounds like an awesome idea!

My fave that has ALWAY gone over really well at every shower or party I've been to.

    Spinach Dip

1-2 packages Knorr vegetable soup mix (depends on how strong a flavour you like)
    1 package cream cheese
    1 tub of cour cream
    1 pacxkage frozen chopped spinach
    2 green onions chopped

Mix all of the above ingredients and serve with cubes of fresh bread

Another one that has gone over really well is taking flavoured wraps (the kind you make burritos out of) and spreading vegetable flavoured ceam cheee all over them, then rolling up some sliced green and red peppers inside, then cut them up (like sushi) to make colourful (and yummy) cicular sandwiches

Have cupcakes! Cupcakes are good for anything, You could even go to a toy shop and get little plastic bottles and rattles (doll-house size) and stick them on top.

Just a suggestion for the rattles etc, if you have a Spotlight Sparty nearby they sell the rattles, dummies in packs and other things for baby showers

I love mini quiches! they are always a hit..if the mother knows the gender of the baby then you could do some colour themed things... pink iced cup cakes or blue iced cupcakes.. and people always love a sausage roll or mini meat pie and Frankfurt!
