Yum. Lurrrvvve Pizza.
We've started making our own at home including the base - really simple receipe & goes delicously on the BBQ (if you have a hood).
Base:
270g (2cups) plain flour
1x7g sachet dried yeast
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
200ml (a tad over 3/4 cup) cool water
olive oil for drizzling.
Mix dry ingredients together. Make well in centre & pour in the water - mix well to make smoothish dough. Sprinkle extra flour in if needed. Form into a ball, rub all over with drizzle of olive oil. Put in a large bowl & cover with glad wrap & pop in the fridge for 20min. It will almost double in size so allow for growth in the bowl.
You get two pizza bases out of it. Take it out of the fridge, slice in half. Sprinkle a little flour on the bench and over dough and knead for 30 secs and roll out.
Put any topping on and put on a tray & onto the BBQ & close the lid. Cooks in 3-6 MINUTES depending on topping!!! Is SOOOO Yum! Esp. if it has your ingred. on it Renstar ..........Pizza & gls of white wine.....hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
LOVE homemade pizza. We do ours on lebanese bread. I put tomato sauce on the base and a bit of cheese, and then top it with various things such as basil, tomato, fetta and pineapple (my fave) then for DH I add ham or some kind of meat. I also like adding zuchinni. Then I put some more sauce on and cheese!! xo
Your recipes sound delicious girls! Well i made the pizza, it as AWESOME besides the fact that i forgot the pineapple chunks!!! woops
ah well, it was great anyway! DF was impressed
If you like a really thin and crispy crust then try Lavash bread. I make a nice home made pizza using that. I spread pizza sauce on it, then add whatever toppings we are craving at the time and then bake in the oven - YUMMO!
Quick way that we do is normal bread with the crusts cut off, spread with tomato paste then top with flavours. Keep the crusts and spread a bit of the paste on these as well. Chuck pizzas and 'fingers' in the oven or grill and yummo!
I just googled and found this one ..let us know how it goes :-)
Yeastless Pizza Crust
1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 tbls granulated sugar
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2/3 cup buttermilk
For a thin, crisp crust, try this simple soda recipe. And remember: there's no reason why you can't add some herbs to enhance the flavor!
Combine flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt in a medium-sized bowl. Make a well in the center and add buttermilk; stir just enough to combine. Form dough into a ball, flatten slightly, then roll out with a rolling pin to the shape and size of your pan or pizza stone or pat into shape with your hands.
also, for kids, tip top (or similar) style muffins are great. Just break in half.
My own personal favorite is just cheese, tomatoe paste, garlic (from the jar) and pineapple. also great as a quick snack, minus the pineapple, you can do it on bread, in the microwave, or under the grill.
Is Lavish bread like turkish bread? cos if it is, i love it!
Kate - I didn't ever think to use normal white bread and cut the crusts off, what a great idea! For pizza in a hurry and no base around thats a good one!
Well, i've decided to make a yummy home-made pizza every Sunday night now Good start to the working week....
