    Well I might let DH have these & try the uncle toby's. I thought I remembered her using them instead of homebrand, so maybe thats the only difference. Might try them one day.

    i get the uncle toby's ones too!! i think that and soaking them makes all the difference, ive also soaked mine overnight!!

    i use the home brand ones.
    i cook it on the stove with full cream milk and a tablespoon of brown sugar until he goes really gluggy. (porrige should bind your stomach closed the grandmas always said :P) Then when you serve it up you add a little more milk around it and then extra sugar on top to add crunch XD It's so bad for you, really.. yet oh so good :P

    I use Carmens Oats here. Aus made and owned I find the stove top does a better job, I have had to do too many clean ups in the microwave so I don't bother. If I have time I let the oats soak for a bit in the morning before cooking.

    DH loves his full of dried fruit, I can't stand it that way.

    I remember my grandparents soaking the oats overnight for porridge in the morning so I think that is the traditional way of doing it. And they have to have salt!! IMO
