Huzzah.
'Cause I've been everywhere, but I've never been to Rouge's.
Oh PN. Flattery will get you everywhere. Next time they are on the menu I shall be sure to inform you![]()
Huzzah.
'Cause I've been everywhere, but I've never been to Rouge's.
Thank you all. My brain was doing that thing where it likes to pick on you for something. You know that mean girl that lives in the dark corners of your mind. And lately she's been at me for this. The stupid thing is everything you've all said I've come back at her with. But she's been wearing me down. Confidence restored. So thank you all.
Yes it's true. I'm a little bit crazy sometimes.
Not crazy Rouge, we are so bombarded all the time with so much info it's easy to slip into "am I doing it right/enough/the best way".... Glad you feel better xoxo
I do this too often...but I agree with Zazou! Maybe I should be a groupie!
All this emphasis on cutting everything out of our diet is faddish and killing us. I do believe some people have a genuine need to cut out parts of our diets but seriously rouge you sound perfect.
It's not like you are feeding them junk. They have cereals. Check. They have meat. Check. They have vegetables and fruit. Check. They have dairy. Check. They have sugar. Check. There is your food pyramid. That's a balanced diet.
Also mad B I am with you. Salt is so underrated. There is a difference to salt infested foods and adding some seasoning. Salt is vital for our bodies.
Old fashioned all the way. Then they ask why our kids aren't fussy....
Can I also add if I see or hear the words "bone broth" one more time I may just delete everyone on IG and FB. Seriously I am SURE it's super good for you, but honestly I don't have the time or inclination right now to make BONE BROTH - just the words bother me also.... Ranty hijacking vent over.....![]()
Thinking about this on a deeper level, I can't help but wonder if all these 'lifestyle diets' that people follow because some study said it was better for you or that sugar/grains/carbs etc will kill youaren't going to create a bigger problem in that children end up with major food issues because of the way their parents freak out about it. Kids who absolutely have to follow a particular diet for medical reasons etc are different, they know that if they eat outside of that diet they will get sick etc. But these kids who grow up being told all this other stuff, like the parents who have conniptions if their child even looks sideways at a red lolly
are going to have problems later on. Food restriction is a very, very dangerous thing and can create a whole lifetime of issues for these kids.
Little_o- it's a bit like stock but made with bones so you get all the fatty marrow out and then can use the jelly and fat as lard. That's what the paleos I know do, good for them, I'm glad it's working out for ya but I clearly follow too many on IG and fb!!!!!
mmmmmmmmmmmmm marrow.
Nutritionally speaking- I'm pretty sure I read somewhere kids could happily live on Vegemite sandwiches and milk and be fine for quite some time. So my rule of thumb- when I have the energy and time (depending on work etc) we eat quite well. Loads of fresh ingredients, mostly from the healthier shelves at the shops. But if mummy's had a bad day and is tired- everyone gets subway or pizza capers for dinner.when I think about the crap I was fed growing up.. I always stop doubting myself and just roll with it!
Seems like there are a lot of trends people followI have had all three with lactose intolerances two from birth and dd2 after gastro she still struggles with tummy pains at night Snd its heartbreaking, the other two have outgrown it, it's a pita to deal with especially when family used to ignore it. Dd1 also had issues with artificial citric acid which is everything including healthier options like yoghurt.
These days we bake bread and make jams and cakes but mostly because we all like doing it, we still have cookies and sometimes lollies. Two of my kids prefer fruit give them berries and they go in an instant the other loves cakes and biscuits so I have to encourage fruit first.
We have 3 types of food in our house.
Healthy food
Tasty food
Healthy tasty food
While our lifestyle/diet isn't as good as yours, I believe if I can teach my kids to eat a balanced diet (we go by the food pyramid) then rest of it will take care of its self.
(And getting my kids to eat veges and some fruit is a epic battle all on its own).
Hey Rouge could you come to my place. I love the sound/look of your diet!
That broth is hilarious. AKA broth. Very very old fashioned. They used to say if the consume couldn't be cut like a jelly when cold then it wasn't cooked long enough so that the gelatine would release. Pretty sure that's how most stocks go.![]()
Oh good Katters!! Cause thats basically what DD eats! Haha
I think your approach is fantastic and not poisoning at all - of course I do because it sounds exactly what I do and of course I am perfect LOL. Totally agree! By eating lots of unprocessed 'whole' foods you are skipping a lot of the jazz that people are desperately trying to cut out. Everything in moderation, go easy on things like animal fats and you are doing a great job![]()
