When I come for dinner one day, Mel, I'll be fine with takeaway! Now that you're living in my fave holiday spot...
PMSL!!!! I can cook other stuff - well enough so its edible at least - just don't ask for a roast dinner!! LOL

And you are welcome at my house anytime

I always think you can go wrong with a pot roast (unless you let it boil dry... or you have it up to boiling and you end up makin the meat tough... ... lol). Try one of them next. Oven roasts are HARD to get 'just right'. I've only just perfected my oven lamb roast; about 1kg goes in for an hour and a half on a slow oven 160-170. Chuck the vege in after half an hour, and YUM!

I think the secret is not to try too hard...

Well I've never cooked a roast & I don't plan to start LOL. Though we do have one often on Sundays or special events......my secret to a great roast is "let DH do it!!!", he's also the cooker of steaks & potato bake.
DH has some contraption he made out of a beer keg, kind of like a webber. When we have a roast he cooks it in there outside. I don't do anything but eat it....works for me.

I've never cooked a roast either, I'm a bit scared of it. See if your new oven works Mel - and if it does, maybe all the roast virgins can cook a roast together and laugh at each others stories. Maybe mid October or something?
