I like mixed salad leaves, tomatoes, cucumber, capsicum, sometimes carrot & cheese.
Celery can be good too, but I don't eat it.
Then I use balsamic dressing...yum!
Iceberg lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onions, grated cheese, feta and sometimes some sweetpepper or peppadews. I'll also do the trio-of-sprout-thingies and avo if it's a special occasion.
And I love my honey-mustard dressing.
Hey hunny
Theres the best site i get all my recipes from, it will sure inspire you trust me i never was big on cooking but this site is amazing Taste.com.au
Here are some of my favourites when it comes to a good salad
-Avocado
-Cos Lettuce/ or mixed lettuce
-semi dried tomatoes
-Lebanese cucumber
- danish feta
... everyone loves how i always sprinkle some raw pine nuts on (when not lazy i roast them under the griller)
(me too Emma ... i love the Taste website and i also always use Cos lettuce over any other lettuce, semi-dried toms & lebanese cucumber has that extra bite to it)
yeah I do as many above has suggested, though have never used nuts. Went to a bbq on Fri night & they had toasted pine nuts in the tossed salad YUMMY!! will try that next time.
Rouge - that sounds soooo yummy....silly question but "peanut chicken"?
baby spinach leaves
cubed cooked sweet potato
seed mix (ie sesame, suflower, pumpkin) toasted OR cashews
marinated mushrooms
artichoke hearts
grape tomatoes
I dress with an olive oil/balsamic mix.
Sometimes I add cubed cooked tofu also.
Tonight I'm making an asian salad because I'm bbq'ing peanut chicken to be sliced on top...
It will be:
Chinese cabbage
Coriander leaves
Spring onions
Baby spinach
Julienned Carrot
Sweet Chilli dressing:
1 tbs sweet chilli sauce
1 tbs rice vinegar
1 tbs fish sauce
2 tsp vegetable oil
And then I'll toss it all together and plate it up individually and top with sliced bbq peanut chicken.
I would have put sliced snow peas and bean shoots but they had no peas and that distracted me from remembering the shoots LOL!
I also chuck in avocado, trio sprout thingies (I think you get alfalfa, snow pea sprouts and mung beans) and shallots...mmmm yummy!
