    Cooking chicken

Wow the post above is very extensive good on you!

I would add one thing though just gives the chicken a little extra kick!

I know you hate the bummy thing but just get a whole lemon and roll it on the bench a bit then stick it right up the bum! haha gross i know but worth it.

If you need any more help go to Jamie Olivers site. He has a video that will show you how to do an awesome chicken. I have included a link to his perfect roast chicken recipe that even tells you how to carve the chicken.

    hope this helps.

If you have bought the oven bag, use it, just follow the instructions on the oven bag, however you can still use my other time instructions.

The bag should make the chicken moist

If you have a slow cooker, just chuck it in there & let it cook itself I can't stand looking at them raw either *shudder*

    Thanks for your replies ladies.

I took the chicken out of the freezer, waiting for it to defrost a little. I couldn't wait any longer so I decided to boil it a little. I came back waiting to turn the chicken but saw something disgusting which is normal to some of you. The saggy bum - which some of you mentioned. I freaked out not knowing what the yukky looking stuff was. Am not touching it. No roast chicken here tonight or ever for that matter. The chicken is still in the pot. I am not going near it.
ohh im am cracken up here...very funny..
glad you giving it another go chicky
cant wait to hear how it goes

Talking Managed to cut the bum off. Yuk. But I did it.

One more question: Do I remove the skin or should I leave it?

I leave it, it tastes yummy and keeps the chicken moist.

Red face How embarrassing. I am asking too many questions.

Should I remove the wings? Or leave it alone?

    Lightbulb

When should I turn the chicken over? 40 minutes into cooking? Someone please give me an idea for a set time.

    Leave the wings.
I don't turn mine over. I don't use oven bags so maybe you have to turn them.
For time I do half an hour at 180 for every half a kilo of chicken so the average chicken takes about and hour and a half. If you poke fattest bit of the thigh and pink juices come out it needs to go back in for a bit longer. Once the juices are clear it's cooked and if there is no juice it's probably over-cooked lol.
