My DS is 7. He seems to graze constantly and is forever complaining that he is hungry. He has never been one to sit down to three big meals a day, he tends to eat 6 or 7 small ones. Ensuring all of those meals are healthy can be a challenge! Perhaps your DS is having a growth spurt?
Gah! My 7 year old is a bottomless pit. No matter how much he's eaten he's always hungry. Always in the fridge or pantry. I get so sick of the phrase "I'm hungry". He's also skinny as a rake, so I have NO idea where it goes. Glad it's not just my DS!
DD1 is beginning to eat a lot more, she used to just a few more mouthfuls than DD2, now she seems to be double! Well that is for lunch and dinner, breakfast they are opposite.
DS is only 5 but some days he really eats so much food. Last week he was crying he was so hungry and so I fed him even though it was just before dinner. He then ate two BIG snacks (e.g. a whole bowl of berries and then cheese and crackers), a huge amount of dinner and dessert. He will go through a series of days like that so I think he is preparing for a growth spurt or something.
My 5 yr old survives on next to nothing most of the time, but then has stages where she eats significantly more than me. She's a skinny minny and after the massive eating days her clothes are always too short (never too tight) so i just try to provide her with as many healthy options as I can and let her eat as much as she wants/needs. It can be a very expensive week of shopping though - food and clothes!
