What is the legal age for smoking?
It is illegal to sell tobacco to anyone under 18. It is also illegal purchase it on behalf of anyone under 18. I don't believe there is a legal age for smoking though.

I found this on the legal aid website:

Until you are 18 no-one is allowed to sell you cigarettes or tobacco, buy cigarettes or tobacco for you, or let you buy cigarettes or tobacco from a machine on their premises. However, it is not against the law to smoke or carry cigarettes or tobacco if you are under 18.

I was under the impression that the legal age to smoke is 16, but you can't buy them until your 18, and its illegal to buy them for an under 18...

stupid crazy law.... but you can thank big tobacco for that one!

Schools should be smoke free and there should be zero tolerance.... what next, they going to have a designated drinking area too?

I'm sorry, but that is just ridiculous - gosh, if we (and I never smoked) were caught smoking in our uniform - regardless of wether during school time or before/after school, we would be in big trouble in my day.
As far as I am concerned if you are under 18, you have no right to smoke - end of story.

I would ask the P & C which tobacco company is sponsering the next bake sale......

Seriously this is disgusting! It gives the kids the idea that its OK to smoke, and its filthy, disgusting and harmful!
