Where would we be without our list Krystie - we cant steal that task from you![]()
oo yay chatter.
I'm up with DS and DD is in bed whilst Hubs has a sleep. Geez Hubs has been good, and might I add that I've bene good to him too. LOL. Thursday night he got up adn changed DD both times, while I got to stay in bed and sleep between changing sides. Then DD and I slept until 10.30am. So I thought I'd pay him back today. hehe
How is everyone going? We are doing well. Had first MCHN home visit on thursday and at 8days of age, DD was pretty much back at her birth weight which was good. She's got something called a granuloma which is where her belly button hasn't completely healed before her cord stump fell off. MCHN says it's due to the hospital leaving the cord clamp attached and it pulls the cord stump away before it's ready. It's healing, and it's not as scary as it sounds.
My magical boobies juice seems to have nearly fixed the conjunctivitis that she had in both eyes aswell. Geez I'm glad I'm a second timer. The belly button thing would have freaked me out had it been DS. hehe.
Other than that, all is well. DS is teething (2 year old molars... the worst apparently) and has a cold and DD has got a bit of a stuffy nose so I'm suctioning the yummies out and squirting breastmilk back up there in the hope it will clear it up before it gets any worse.
Well, I've waffled on enough. Have a great day everyone
ETA: Oh and happy due date to me! haha
Yaaaay! I'm here too. Ignoring the dates and sticking with you lovely ladies! Might not be around much for the next week though as hubby has been downloading software and so we have exceeded our monthly download limit - making the internet soooooo slow that it took me about 20 mins to get on this page!
All good here - nothing new to report really but that Ivy is STACKING on the weight and is now 8 pounds so the SCN are finally leaving us alone and are satisfied that she's past any concerns they had about her feeding and development. Hurrah!
Enjoy this beautiful time gals and sending you all some extra zzzzz's!
well nothing much going on here except my parents and my sister are coming on monday to visit coz my sister is yet to see J poor thing she really wanted to see me in hospital she can help me with him so she'll be happy
was supposed to have the MCHN come on friday but she didn't turn up not sure why i'm gonna give her a call monday i wanna know how much weight he's gained coz he's on formula now after issues with BF
now i know why ppl believe their baby is the cutest baby in the world coz i can't stop looking at him coz hes so cute i can't imagine wat my life would be without him even though i've only had him for 8 days
so far almost all of us are early lol
Hi girls, it's so good to see us slowly filling up the thread with babiesSeven so far and hopefully a few more in the next few days!
And it's great to read that we all seem to be doing pretty well, and so do all our babies.
Kyson has had his 2 week check up with the MCH nurse (when he was 2 1/2 weeks old) and he had already gained just over half a kg since birth lol! He's definitely feeding well and gaining weight. It's just sad that my "little" boy is growing up so fast already.
We started having a bit of a problem with Kyson wanting to feed every time he woke up even if it had only been an hour or so since the last feed. So we have been trying to break that cycle with him. We know he's not hungry, so we are trying to stretch the feeds out a little by trying to settle him without feeding him. He's now feeding about every 2-3 hours, and last night he went a four hour sleep which was heaven, lol.
He's also been getting quite a bit of wind which has been giving him tummy aches. It breaks my heart when he's crying because of it. We have a tummy tub that he gets bathed in, and luckily he looooooooves it and it's great for easing his tummy aches and getting out the wind. The MCH nurse noticed that he has a mild "tongue tie". It doesn't affect his feeding at all, but may be contributing to him getting wind. We have to make an appointment for a 6 week check up at the paediatrician's office, so I'm going to get it checked again there. I really really hope that they say it's all fine, because I definitely don't want him to have a frenectomy if it can be avoided!
In general we are doing really well though. DH is being a huge help. He'll even get up in the middle of the night and settle Kyson during the night so I can get a little extra sleep, even if it means he paces around the house for an hour. Such a sweetheart! He's even done a bunch of cooking today that will be some of our meals during the week. That means that I don't have to worry about cooking dinner for the DSS's after school before DH gets home from work (he goes back to work on Tuesday and I'm a little nervous!).
My little darling is being an angel at the moment and is napping. He's getting more and more adorable each day and I just love him so soooooo much!![]()
Hello ladies,
i finally have a few mins to myself. am wondering if i should put the heater on for andy damn cold here. He is a big eater too like his brother was ( well still is). MY stitches are killing me and now my boobs hurt grrrr does it end lol. sounds like our DH's are being good, mine is fabby, he cleaned and is sterilizing the bottles etc dont want him to go back to work yet lol
So whose gunna share piccies firt?lol i wanna sneek a peek
KL - Ivy had a tongue-tie as well. I was soooo scared of getting it fixed but because she was having so much trouble feeding already because of premmie issues, I didn't want anything else to interfere. My brother has one and he told me that he has always found it problematic and it may have contributed to him needing speech therapy when he was little. I was also told by several midwives that I trusted that babies don't fuss that much getting it fixed... In spite of all of this, I was TERRIFIED when i agreed to get it sorted.
I was crying beforehand and had to leave the room as I couldn't look. Hubby told me that they put a little bit of sucrose into Ivy's mouth (to give a positive association with the procedure) and that she was so busy licking her lips and getting all excited about the sweet taste in her mouth, she didn't even notice the procedure! I came back in a minute later expecting to see my poor baby screaming in pain and instead found a happy sleepy baby smacking her lips with pleasure!!
Of course, we can't know that Kyson will have such an easy time of it, but I'm told that most babies don't even cry - but their Mummies always do!
HTH
Oh Kat, thanks so much for telling me all that! Hopefully Kyson won't have to have it done, but if he does you've made me feel a whole lot better about it! My husband's sons (from his previous marriage) both had it as well. The eldest had heaps of trouble feeding and it took them a while to work out why before he had it snipped, and then when the second boy was born they checked for it and snipped it straight away. DH says it wasn't too traumatic, but it's still scary for me.
Jess, sorry to hear your stitches are causing you grief. I'm so glad that I didn't tear or need to be cut, because even with no stitching I was pretty sore down there. I can't imagine how bad it would have been with tearing as well! I found that it helped to lean all the way forward and put my hands on the floor when I was going to the toilet. That way the "stream" didn't flow back to the ouchy bits. I also would take a jug of warm water with me and pour that over the area afterwards. It stopped any stinging and I figured it was keeping everything nice and clean too so that it could heal faster.
Well it looks like I haven't managed to avoid the germies, grrrrr. I've got the beginnings of a cold. The sore throat, sore neck, headache and the start of an icky nose. I really hope I don't give it to Kyson. If he gets sick I just know that I'll cry about it! I don't EVER want to see him sick!
Oh, a funny (but disgusting) thing happened last night. I was laying on the couch with Kyson laying on top of me and I thought I could feel something damp. Kyson had been laying on his daddy before coming to me, so my first thought was that he must have gotten really warm and sweated a little. So I disregarded it and just kept lying there with him. He had a bit of wind and was farting quite a bit. It wasn't until I went to get up that I discovered that his nappy had come undone on one side and that he had been doing "wet" fartsHis little jumpsuit was yellow/brown at the back and it had soaked through not only my singlet, but all the way through to my pants and underwear! So gross! And yet, so funny! Poor Kyson didn't find it so funny when we had to clean him up though, and then I had to strip off and clean myself too. Good thing it was time to get into our jimjams anyway

Hey Girls, I am so glad we got this thread started...........
Kat - how much did Ivy weigh at birth? Wow @ being over 8pds already. I had Bailey weighed on Tuesday at our local chemist and he weighed 3.26kg (with clothes) so assuming I take off a couple hundred grams he has gone from birth weight of 5p12oz (2620g) to approx 7pds (which is 3175gm). I am looking forward to having him weighed again on Tues and will put the same outfit on him so I can get a real indication of what weight he has put on this week. He barely fits his 00000 anymore, I am fitting him in his 0000 now
Krystie - re your FB comment, I saw your pics of Kyson today and I reckon we do indeed have the same couch lol. Oh no re the poo incident. Luckily I have been poo free so far, but have been caught out by Bailey doing wee's during nappy changes hehehehehe. Re the wind for Kyson - one of my GF gave me a tip (might help, you never know) to slightly elevate Baileys change table and/or cot/cradle mattress so his head sits a smidge higher (like the baby cribs in the hospy). Bailey screams when I put him flat on the change table - hates lying flat (and hates his nappy off and being cold), but apparently that slight angle helps with wind - I just chucked a folded towel under the top of the mattress. Bailey slept like a dream last night, not sure if this was why (esp compared to his all nighter the night before), but will keep you posted on whether it also improves the nappy change experience also - as most nappy changes for him are right after a feed when he is likely to be most windy (despite a few burps). Good luck on Tues - I was terrified when DH went back to work (and very teary), but it wasn't as bad as I thought. We are here for you if you need us - it may be a teary goodbye for you all as DH probably won’t want to leave Kyson either. My DH shed a few tears which was just heartbreaking for all of us.
Niadla - Breastmilk and goopy eyes definitely does the trick doesn't it? Bailey had a crusty eyes a few weeks ago (not sure that it was full on conjunctivitis though) but the breast milk did the trick. I am such a first time mother though as I just held my leaky nipple over his eye and let the milk drip in LMAO but apparently the 'proper' way to do it is to bath a cotton ball etc in the milk and then gently bath the eye - Oh well, my way did the trick too - HAHAHAHAHA
Jacinta - how annoying re the MCHN nurse not rocking up - DOH. I agree with the thinking your baby is the cutest - infact I even said to DH a few days ago after watching some foxtel baby show - "I know everyone thinks their baby is the cutest but ours actually IS the cutest" LMAO - we are so biased aren't we?
Jess - I used those Klennex flushable wipes for my 'lady parts' after the stiches and they were soft and gentle - LOL. Also - lean forward when weeing so the wee doesn't sting the stiches (Naomi's school of birth stiches is full of useful advice LMAO)
Having a lazy day today - still catching up on sleep from friday night/sat mornings all nighter - I am still in my PJs!! LOL
Naomi
x
PS - hope we have some more bubs arrive soon for our thread
Hi girls!
Good to see a bit of chatter.
Hope you've all had fab weekends!
Re the stitches... stitz baths all the way!!!!! (just a salt water bath). Have HEAPS of them! They work a treat. I didn't have any stitches this time, but I did with DS. I remember just how scared I was to do ANYTHING with any of my parts down there. LOL. But, as we can all see, it obvisouly all healed well enough for me to get jiggy again, and well, they all got a workout. LOL
Jess I have pics on FB. Not very good at uploading on here. Have tried to find people on FB, and have a couple. If you want to add me I'm Nicky J on the other girls' FB pages.
Naomi - You did better than me with the BM squirting! haha I have been using my breast pump at times. Taking the bottle off the bottom, and just holding it over her face on the change table and expressing out of na already empty boob. Helps my boobs make a tiny bit more milk, and is much easier for me and my giant bazoogas! LOL
Sounds like bailey is thriving! That's fantastic! It's so sad when you have to start packing away the clothes that no longer fit. Allira had gained 150grms in 7 days when weighed, and we'll find out how much more she has gained on this coming Weds. She'll be well and truely over her birthwieght now.
Krystie - haha the poo explosions! Get used to those. They get worse before they get better! My SIL was holding DS when he was around 9 months old, and all of a sudden she had poo running down her top and legs. We were shopping out of town too, so she had to get her mum who was with us, to buy her a new outfit so she didn't have to walk around in yellow clothes. Ah memories.....
I hope kyson's tongue tie is only very slight and doesn't need anything to correct it.
Hi Kat and Jwith J! I hope you are both going really well.
Bring on more may babies!! I can't beleive my due date was yesterday. I was very happy not to have made it. LOL
All here is going so so well. Allira still feeds and sleeps like an angel. DS is LOVING her so much. He still sleeps as well as he did before Allira came along which is fantastic. hubs has been great, although he works for his dad and FIL called him into work twice this week which I was and still am very unhappy about. I won't be going around to the IL's for a little while.... I just can't put on the 'everything is fine and dandy' charade as well as I should. FIL didn't even come and visit us in hospitalSo He's not in my good books at the minute, but I'm not someone who would say anything to him or MIL about it. They are fantastic 99.99% of the time, but ever since I went into labour, FIL has kind of been angry that Hubs has had time of work. Sheesh... he had 9 months to prepare for it.
Anyway, that's my only gripe and if that's all that is going wrong with my life, then I'm doing pretty well. I am so in love with my spunky little family.
Take care.
xxoo
Grrr, the one time I didn't copy what I wrote before pressing submit it doesn't post! Ok, take two! It's just a quick post anyway.
Well, we had our worst night last so far last night. Poor Kyson had a belly full of wind that was refusing to budge. I don't think any of us got much sleep last night. I spent a lot of it pacing around the bedroom holding him, then when I finally thought I got him to sleep and we crawled back into bed, he woke up again crying. As soon as I try to put him horizontal to sleep it must hurt. After that Daddy took a turn holding him and trying to settle him, but then he wanted his next feed. After that he was wide awake and had no interest in going to sleep. He was feeding really oddly as well. Sort of cluster feeding and being fussy. I guess it all had to do with his tummy though. He continued being unsettled all morning too. We managed a 1/2 hour nap just before midday, and thankfully he has finally gone down for a sleep. The poor little tyke must be just us exhausted as me.
Hmmm... and now he's stirring already![]()
