Ok, I made it back, although I do have a little bub on my chest, lol!
Besides the mild germies, Kyson is doing really well. We had our MCHN appointment yesterday Kyson has put on 550g in the last two weeks. He is now just under 5kg (4.98kg to be exact). Looks like we're going to have to exchange our newborn nappies for infant because they are getting a little snug and I thin newborn is only meant to go up to 5kg.
Generally our feeding routine is still 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 hourly. During the day it's usually closer together, but at night we're managing to get it to 4 hours on some rare wonderful occassions. I was reading a study the other night about co-sleeping which mentioned that co-sleeping babies fed more often than those in another room, but that overall the co-sleeping mum and bubs still got at least as much sleep as the non-co-sleepers. In light of that I won't complain about the short sleeps between feeds
Jess - How did you manage to do so much while the boys were sleeping?! I have trouble getting anything done in the small breaks, lol. I'm lucky to even eat!
Niadla - I'm so glad that Allira's kidneys (and everything else!) are perfect. That's wonderful news. Plus 6.5 hours of sleep the other night must have been heaven!
Naomi - Kyson has mostly grown out of his 0000's too. The only ones he still fits in are the Pumpkin Patch singlet-suits. The ones with no legs, but do up under the bottom. I love them because they don't ride up like singlets can
It must have been so scary when it sounded like Bailey was choking! Sometimes when we're changing Kyson he'll get so upset that he coughs! I hate it. The poor little tyke just hates getting naked, unless we're having some naked skin-to-skin snuggles which he still loves.
BG - Good to see you in here matey! I hope all is well with Emerald and that you are recovering well
Kat - I hear you on the tiredness! Kyson was a bit restless after his 1.30am feed last night, but luckily we managed to catch a 1 hour nap together this afternoon!
JwithJ - Sounds like Master Jamie is growing nicely. 700g since birth already!!! Hopefully his eyes will clear up completely for him soon.
Krystie: his eyes are clear now but now hes got thrush in his mouth but a visit to the doc means he has drops i have to put in his mouth 4 times a day
BG: welcome home little emerald enjoy this time coz they grow way 2 fast lol and jamie is only 3 weeks old
Naomi: unlucky for u J is still ok in his 0000 so i dont know where hes putting on weight lol
Anyways everything else is going well feeding every 3.5 - 4 hours on formula getting him sleeping in his bassinet with his seseme street mobile no more DH having to bring him to bed just to sleep we were a little paranoid about sharing the bed coz DH is a smoker
he's in infant nappies coz at night he was wetting through them maybe i need to invest in some maz covers for night time lol
afm im getting sleep most of the time when J is sleeping but everytime i go to eat he wakes up for food lol and dinner always goes a bit cold maybe i should time it a bit better
hope everyone is well and hope our other belly buddies join us as soon as they can look away from their bubs for 5 mins lol
is it 2 early to want another baby? DH have discussed TTC starting in sept this year coz we want a sibling for Jamie close to his age and ppl have said to me isnt it a bit early to be thinking of these things seeings as i just had a baby 3 weeks ago

I got clucky about 3 months after I had DS. It quickly went away until he was about 9 months old and when he was 11 months old, we started TTC #2.
Only you and DH can make the decision. My reasons for waiting a bit was so my body could have a bit of a rest and at least half recover from pregnancy and childbirth, as I have read that it akes 2 years for your body to fully recover.
Hi ladies! Sorry I haven't been around much - have been so busy and out just about every bloody day. Had a bit of a poo night last night, so we are staying home today and not letting anyone drag me out.... Did anyone elses bub cluster feed at 2 weeks? Brooky was sleeping 7pm till 4.30am since last Friday (I think) and last night she instead started feeding every 1-2hours up till now. I didn't expect her to keep the 7pm 4.30am, but I also didn't expect her to change to 1-2hour constant feeding... hopefully it's just cluster feeding from a growth spurt?! Wishful thinking anyway.
JwithJ - I don't think it's too early... It depends on you and your husband really. We couldn't wait to do it again soon as Rochelle was out and on my chest in the delivery room. We planned and decided to try again when she was 6 months. We're already talking about number 3 - I can't wait. We'll probably (depending on how things go with the two girls) try for number 3 at the end of the year... wouldn't mind the same sort of age gap! But we'll definately see.
Hope everyone else is well - it sounds like everyone is coping VERY well and enjoying the new journey. I'm suprised how easy it's been so far with two and so far Rochelle has been such a good girl and just loves Brooklyn. She kisses and strokes her hair a hundred times a day! I try and make sure Rochelle gets lots of attention so she doesn't feel left out and we haven't had a problem *so far*, but we're only 2 weeks in.
Niadla - I can't believe it's been 6 weeks for you already!

P.S. Girls with sore nipples, get on to those rite aid hydrogel disks, they are ace! Raindrops - I got thrush too, I guess I was more prone to it since I was on antibiotics from the placenta thing and since we had feeding problems in the beginning, I would just shove my boob in her mouth whenever she would open it (since it was a rare occurence) and didn't worry about attachement because I just wanted to get her to feed and therefore got a bit of damage which probably also contributed to thrush. Gosh it was unpleasent, but the pain and stinging is pretty much gone (we're still treating it though) so bf is MUCH easier!

Kyson slept for over 5 overs straight last night! It was so nice to sleep for that long. His next sleep was only 2 hours, but I can forgive him, hehe.
Also, I forgot to mention that the MCH nurse was really surprised with Kyson's head control. He's so strong! Actually, he's strong all over. If I'm holding him upright he can even hold his own weight on his legs and stand up. I think he might take after me and be an early walker at this rate. Mum tells me that I was walking by 8 months!
JwithJ - Sorry to hear that Jamie has thrust. My friends baby has it too. How do you sterilise his bottles? My mum was telling me that when my twin brothers were young one of them got thrust too. She was told that she needed to sterilise the bottles for longer. She used to boil the bottles in water for at least 10 minutes. After that my brother never got thrush again. Not sure if that helps you at all though. Hopefully the drops will clear it all up soon
Oh, and I'm already thinking about another baby too! I'm loving being a mummy so much and already get sad about how quickly Kyson is growing up. I've been wondering how quickly I might start to ovulate again, haha! I haven't discussed it with DH yet though, because I'm still going to have to do a bit of convincing to get him to want another. He'd be happy to stop at Kyson because we already have his two sons from a previous marriage living with us too, but I know that he would let me have another if I really wanted to.
Catherine - Last night was Kyson longest sleeping stretch so far and it was just over 5 hours. Most nights now we are able to stretch out the breaks between his feeds to 3-3.5 hours, but during the day it's still closer to 2 hourly. Hopefully you'll be lucky and Brooklyn will go back to sleeping mostly throught he night for you.
Wow - I only got up once for a feed last night - how fantastic. I gave Bailey a bath about 8pm, then he was wide awake with Daddy for a few hours and had two four hourly feeds which meant I only got up at 2am - Nice! Might try the bath routine again and see if thats the key?
Jacinta - I dont think its too soon. My brother and I are only 18 months apart and have a great relationship so I think there are many good reasons to have babies close - you do whats right for your family. We will probably wait until after I return to work next year so we can save up for IVF/Maternity leave all over again, but I understand you thoughts as if our situation was different I would be keen to have another one 'soonish'
Catherine - With regards to us all coping very well; Coping - YES, Going Mad some days - YES, Being drunk with tiredness at times - YES. LOL Motherhood is easier and harder than I thought. I think my motherly instincts have come naturally and as far as caring for the little guy and following my intuition this has been a breeze, however adjusting to lack of sleep and the day flying by, still getting used to that hehehehehe. Glad to hear Ro loves her little sister so much, that is just tooo cute. Bailey has had a few days where he has cluster feed about 1.5-2 hours but I have just put it down to growth spurts as its usually only about 3-4 feeds in a row so far.
Krystie - wow re Kysons head and leg control, what a little strong man! Thats awesome, clever little thing. 5 hours is awesome. I am just waiting for Bailey to wake now for a feed, he is starting to stir a little. I find I have been doing a few feeds in bed laying down when I am really tired - the positioning was really difficult at first (I am more comfortable sitting in my rocking chair), but I found that Bailey kinda sorted it out for us, as long as I lay close enough to him, he seeks out the boob, and its relaxing. The funniest thing though was the first time I did it the other boob was leaking and I didn't realise he was getting a milk shower from up above as I was laying on my side so the other boob was hovering above him - LMAO

Had my OB appt yesterday, all is well. I was really teary when I was saying goodbye for the last time, no doubt thats common but it just felt sad to end (hopefully temperarily until Bub#2) that relationship

Lol Naomi!!! I woke up yesterday morning to a soggy baby I had been sleeping on my side with Kyson laying nestled against me and my boob must have been constantly leaking because the whole side of his jimjams had a huge wet patch! No wonder he was being unsettled haha!!!
Oh and the other day I was feeding and Kyson pulled off, but just as he did his hand grabbed the top of my breast and it squirted him right in the eye! You should have seen the dirty look he gave me as if I did it on purpose!

All is going well here. Allira had her first unsettled period last night between Midnight and 2am, but we were awake at midnight still anyway, so it wasn't too much of a drama. Then she slept with me until 9.30am. Can't complain about that. hehe
We got some professional photos taken of the kids when Allira was 7 days old, and I got to pick them up last night. Love them. I'm going to put them up on FB later today if you girls want to have a squizz

Krystie - Sounds like your boobies are doing a great job! My let down on one sideis a bit fast for Allira, and she pulls off just after starting the feed and gets squirted in the face. Poor chicken hehe. It'll sort itself out soon, but in the meantime I'm sure the B< is good for her face.
Catherine - Welcome! Constant feeding sucks...I did that with DS for about 5 months I think. I am very lucky Allira's not so demanding. I hope you get a break soon! Brooklyn obviously just craves her mummy's yummy milk!
Naomi - 6 weeks! I'm with the other girls... WOW! How fast has that gone! Yay on Bailey's awesome sleep! Allira slept 7.5 hours after a bath on Thursday night which was fantastic. I am sure the bath relaxes them... Allira loves the bath. Just like being back in mummy's tummy.

Has everyone got a long weekend this weekend? Loving having hubs home for an extra day. We're heading to melbs on Monday to have a look at a new car. Mine's been sold so now I get to find a new one. No hurry, hubs has a million cars as it is. Can't wait to sell all of those off. haha.

Niadla - The pictures on your FB are so cute! I can't wait until you get the "good" versions on there. I had professional photos taken of Kyson when he was 8 days old and they are devine. I'll put them on FB soon too. It looks like Allira was putting on a bit of a frowny face in lots of them just like Kyson did! It was so cute. His little frown would come out each time he was moved hehe.
Kyson slept a good 5.5 hours again last night from midnight to 5.30. The only problem is that he decides to cluster feed after that and I'm feeding him every 1.5-2 hours until later in the morning. Oh well, as long as he's happy, I'm happy.
My friend is a children's chiropractor, and she was kind enough to come over today and check both me and Kyson. She did a couple of adjustments on Kyson and I was amazed how gentle it's done. The first adjustment was a cranial one, and the second was low down in his back. She even got me to feel it before and after and I could feel the improvement. Then it was my turn and I had quite a few problems, which wasn't surprising. The birth even put my pubic bone slightly out of place!
We're now having a lazy saturday afternoon. DH isn't working today or tonight and the DSS's are at their mum's house, so it's just the three of us for a change (me, DH and Kyson).
just popping in to say hi - have been pretty quiet cos i've been enjoying my girl - and when she's snoozing, have been making an effort to type up my birth story (which i've now posted!).
not a lot to update = Emerald is a very settled bubba - we were having a few hours each night where she just wanted to party, but last night she fed at nine and stayed with daddy while he watched the footy and i went to bed (couldn't sleep but that's another story!). he brought her up for her feed a bit after 11 and she fed til about 1145, then asleep til sometime near 4. brought her back to bed for another feed, and she slept through til 9. noice!
we had mchn visit yesterday arvo, and even after her dodgy weight loss in hospital, little miss is thriving - was weighed on Tuesday morning (about 5am) - and from then until yesterday arvo she had gained a whopping 160g - which is apparently more than double the rate the expect from a breast fed baby.
must away again - washing to do, hubby to snuggle while our bubba is sleeping and i actually can!

Phoebe is feeding close to 3-hourly round the clock. Just burping her now, then back to bed for a couple of hours hopefully. Some nights she spoils me and waits an extra hour, which is lovely, except I almost feel more tired when I have more sleep... What's with that?
I'll read your birth story tomorrow, BG! Looking forward to that. I'm still going on mine - it is really long already, LOL!
ahhh i think my girl might be a sleeper (well, i'm hoping!!!) - she was a bit unsettled at bed time last night so i was dreading the night ahead, but we got to sleep properly about 2.30 after she got rid of a big belly ache - and slept til about 9 - and even then, it wasn't a grumbly screaming "feed me" girl - it was a happy contented "i'm gonna lay between the two of you and chatter" girl! took almost 20 minutes before she decided she wanted boob, and then she just took her time feeding - she's had another little top off when i finished in the shower and is now sleeping peacefully.
Amy - my birth story was very long too babe! don't fret!
kyrstie: ud be surprise how much i can get done in a couple of hrs lol i get sick of looking at the mess the joys of doing more then on task lol i do manage to eat at some point lol.
JwithJ: if u feel u r ready to TTC then go for it, its ur body and life u do as u see fit for u n ur family. personally i wouldn't be doing it lol
bg: i am glad to hear she is settling in well.and ur bf is going well 4 u.
snacks: i feel ya, andy is a 3hrly feeding guts lol which took awhile to get him to that.
Andrew is doing well, we have some routine which im happy to go with that. its funny i dont remember being in any sort of routine with ashley weird how it works. Andy now weighs 9lbs 19 ( he ws 8lbs 3oz when born) so he is doing really well. so i am happy. I am a bit behind in my studies so i am trying to catch up but am getting there. Hope everyone and bubbs are good.
