Unhappy I'm in so much pain!! (my left foot) HELP!

    Hi,

I don't know if anyone can help me here but maybe can suggest what I should do?

The last 5 days I've had a really sore left foot on the outside edge and when I walk it makes me limp a bit.... it only seemed to hurt after i'd been sitting or resting for a bit but after walking a bit I would be ok and not limp as much. It has felt quite bruised as though someone has walked on the outside of my foot with their heel or something!!

Yesterday, I was at the shops and walking with a fair bit of a limp and last night it got progressively worse. I woke at 3am today to feed my daughter and to walk to her room was quite challenging This morning upon waking... I was scared to walk on it. I got out of bed just before and it was VERY painful like 8 out of 10. It's getting worse and I have no friggen idea what is wrong or how i've done it.... it feels like i've broken my foot that is how it feels. What could it be???? I tried dencorub on it last night but it seemed to only make it worse! And rubbing it or touching it really hurts... it just feels so bruised but doesn't look swollen or bruised.

Should I see GP today? What are they going to be able to do anyway??? I can only take Panadol as I'm BF'ing.
Should I see a Podiatrist? And what is the waiting list for those sorta places???
I'm not keen on waiting at emergency for probably 3hrs to be seen either.....

This is ridiculous.... how can i look after my baby girl when I can barely walk??????

I would be getting it checked (sounds awfully similar to the other thread this week about gout)..

Sometimes the cold can force ailments to come out that you aren't aware of.

GL, and I hope you find out what it is and get something for the pain!

    Hugs babe!
My mum has a bad foot to and the doctor told her to put a canof peas in the freezer and when its cold get it out and roll her foot back and fwds on it - her foot is sore all over but mainly underneath.

I would suggest a podiastrist would be better - they can massage and work on the muscles - or a physio would be good as well.
A GP will most prob send you for scans and things and just suggest drugs IMO.

    Hope it gets better soon!!

It wouldn't be gout, I read about that and I doubt it is..... there is no redness or swelling that can be seen.

I can't get it massaged by a physio it is just way too painful to touch

I'm walking around the house a bit more now and it isn't so sore as when i woke up... but i'm worried the walking is just agrovating it more....

It's so frustrating when you are in pain and no idea why!!!

Thank you girls, appreciate your help.

have you done an excessive amount of walking or put any stress on it prior to the pain starting? is it possible it's a stress fracture? i'd go to the GP and get it checked - the fact the pain is escalating would concern me enough to check it out.

it's possible you've just gotten a chill in it if you're in a cold area (my feet are ouchies now cos it's cold this morning) but the increasing pain just doesn't sound right

it could be a stress fracture. i would get x rays. can your GP do x-rays? some of those super clinics have x-ray on site. at least a GP can refer you to an x-ray place in your area, or another specialist if they think they be better.

Is your foot swollen?? WHen my horse stood on my foot and broke it / fractured it my foot was swollen and dark black...

I would get to the docs before it gets any worse - at least then you will know whats going on even if it is just a case of wait till it gets better.

Good luck and let us know how you go!

Definitely go to the Drs hun. No point hanging around in pain, waiting to see what happens, only to find that you could have done something to help it.

    Good luck

It's really hard looking after my DD when I'm like this!!!

It's not swollen. It's not visibly bruised either but FEELS bruised. very bruised as if a horse stood on it!!!!

I'm ringing GP now to see if I can get in.

Could it be a bone spur?

    Lulu - whats Chilbains??

And my feet aren't cold i'm wearing my ugg boots so its not from being cold.... its only in one foot.

I got an appointment with a Podiatrist today and he said it appears i've strained my "Anterior Talo fibular Ligament" (ATF LIgament)! I have no idea how!!! it does feel like a sprain thats for sure.He said sometimes people do that and they don't even realise they have done it til the next day... maybe happened when my foot was warm then once it's gone cold in the weather the pain has appeared. Weird..... anyway he strapped it for me and should be good within a few days. He couldn't really explain why the pain was worse today than 5 days ago though when it started.... I have to go back Weds if still no good... and then he'll do x rays etc.

My DH has ligament pain in his foot - it has gotten worse over time (silly dr he saw first gave him bruise cream) - it's much more painful just after he has been sitting or resting and then gets up onto it. It's getting better now it's strapped & he has some exercises to do. So I thought ligament pain straight away. I hope it gets better quickly!!

Chilblains - sometimes if your feet get cold they get red, sore and painful. Itchy too.

    That would be me.

I know you've had your painful foot diagnosed now and it's not gout but I just wanted to send you lots and lots of understanding hugs from one painful foot suffer to another (my foot's really painful atm, it comes and goes).
