    Front Loader - Poo Question!

I am new to using cloth nappies and put a load on the other day. They all came out clean and lovely and work just fine.

The problem is that when I put some other things in the washing machine I noticed that around the rim of the front loader window thing (on the inside) there was some brown stuff that I suspect was poo. Has this happened to anyone else (I hope you know what I am talking about!)

So I got a rag and cleaned around the rim and lots of brown came out so now it is clean... but I am worried about the poo going there every time I wash.

Any advice/suggestions would be great. DH is going to make me a little squirt so maybe I'll have to rinse the poo off first? It is newborn poo so nice and runny nothing thick!

i have always rinsed DD's dirty nappies in the laundry sink before I wash them, I do use nappy liners though so most of the poo comes off on them. I would be trying to get off as much of it as possible before you wash them, even though it is newborn poo, you still don't want it starting to build up in the hoses/outlet pipes of your washing machine.

Yeah it's poo... Happens here occasionally too - but not all the time.

We just make sure we put an extra rinse cycle in and it's usually fine. Only happens about once a month here - but not sure why

The worst it ever happened was one time (and band camp ) when I didn't notice and got some marks on my washing that I did the next day I had to re-wash some of that stuff. But that only happened once.

Oh - and I should point out that we don't have a little squirt - we just scrape

I always used fleece liners with DD2 which made it really easy to dispose of the poo. You hold the liner over the toilet (poo side down) and stretch the fabric which loosens the poo so it falls in the pan.

If there's anything left, keep hold of the liner and flush the loo - if you put the liner under the flush it should rinse off anything that's left.

Front loaders are the norm in England and I never had poo left in the seal once I started doing this.

Thanks for your help ladies, I do have some of the fleece liners and bambino mio ones too so I may as well start using them! I am glad this is not going to be an ongoing problem so I'll scrape and so forth and then look forward to a clean washing machine.

    Your help is appreciated

I had this problem too, but it does get better when they reach toddlerhood - poo is much easier to scrape/flush then.

Until that time you can help your machine by running a short wash/rinse cycle every now and again without anything in the machine, and over here in our part of the UK we have very hard water so every few months I would do a wash with a specific washing machine descaler - I know this helped with getting rid of any muck in the pipes too. I know the water in Australia is generally nowhere near as hard as over here, but you could always get your hands on some descaler or specific washing machine cleaner if needed.
