    Cool 2010 Summer/Christmas Challenge #2

    Following on from THIS thread...

I guess it's hard to dispute the fact that summer is coming and most of us want to look warm weather ready, even if that means just a little more 'respectable' in our togs than usual.

So who's in... i find it's easier working towards a goal when i have other people making me a little more accountable for my actions.

Let us know your current weight, your goal weight, measurements and anything else that might HELP US HELP YOU reach your goals.
It does not need to be a WEIGHT bassed goal, lets make this a summer health challenge... maybe you want to run a marathon or be able to walk to the shops and back, no goal is too small and no goal is too big... we CAN work through them together.

for now PM me your details: Your goal, current weight etc

We will make weigh in's (for those doing weight based) on a Monday if that works for everyone.

Yeah i have no idea what happened. who would have thought ear piercing could cause such drama.. actually it wasn't that that went pear shaped but it's all good.

Mmm yummo.. look forward to hearing about the trip.. maybe next week you can join us for a walk and rhymetime or storytime.. the girls had a BALL there yesterday!

Please could we keep this thread on track? If there is loads of chatter about ear piercing and general chatter the weight loss posts will get lost.

Ok ladies.. back on track with SUMMER HEALTH CHALLENGE ; let's try a mini challenge.
What about Next Monday we TRY SOMETHING NEW.. so for those of us who have been walking maybe we could try adding in some sit-ups.
For the people going to the gym doing a bit of everything maybe you can pick something you don't do a lot and give it a go.

We can tell each other how we went... also why not try a new 'healthy meal' maybe something you wouldn't normally eat.
I have a tin of chick peas in the cupboard.. what can i make with them??? maybe a salad?

Also DP on his 'health kick' has gone and bought an exercise bike off e-bay $26 or something crazy like that... sooo on top of walking i should be able to get some bike work in

That's great, ZF! I'm glad your DP is finally coming around! The mini-challenge sounds good! How many sit ups do I have to do?

As for the healthy meals: Yep, I always try new ones! (Like the broccoli and tofu stirfry yesterday!) It's heaps of fun and I keep discovering new and healthy foods! I can feel that my waist is getting slimmer and so are my legs. But my tummy fat is sooo stubborn . Now that everything BUT the stomach fat is shrinking, the my tummy really sticks out and I look kinda preggers So I bought this new book called Flat Belly diet. It's not really a diet, but explains what food groups are beneficial for losing tummy fat. It also has heaps of recipes! So I can't wait to try it out. Apparently it's super important to eat MUFA's (Monounsaturated fatty acids) because they are the ones that REALLY melt you tummy fat. MUFA's are found in good veggie oils (Olive, Sunflower seed, Canola etc), in olives, avocado, nuts and seeds and dark chocolate . So I'll be incorporating these into my diet now (esp. the chocolate Haha). Let's hope they work! .

As for your chickpeas: They are great in salads, but also in soups (like minestrone type ones) or you could also blend them with some other veggies and make veggie patties! Have fun!

Thanks Raupe - does anyone have links to or can e-mail me some yummy recipes.
DP can be a bit fussy and there are a few things i DON'T eat - mushrooms, fish, egg (can eat it cooked IN things but not on it's own) but am willing to give things a try.

Tonight i am having pork chops with veg... maybe i can pan fry some pumpkin & zucchini first with lots of peas, corn & carrots

OMG Same here! Dp is super fussy (well, less now since we started our lifestyle change and I MADE him try foods that he never used to like - turns out he does like them, his mum just is a horrible cook ) and we both don't eat mushrooms or fish and I hate boiled eggs but I do eat them scrambled in stirfries or when they are 'in' the food! I'll try to find some links for you, hun!
