We have a Technica, came when we built the house as part of the deal. It is very quiet - but that's no wonder really....it doesn't do a good job washing the dishes, so I wouldn't expect it to make noise :P
So we need a new dishwasher.
No idea where to start so thought I'd do a quick vox pop - what have you got? Do you love it or hate it? What's good, what's not, about yours?
How much was it?
Very importantly - how QUIET is it??
Thanks all!

I have the Husband 0.1 Model. I love it, most of the time. Does a good job but leaves the sink full of scraps and doesn't really do that nice finish off clean, you know? Like wiping the benches down etc. However the dishes are always clean and put away so I spose I can't really complain. It's quite an expensive unit, but it makes a wage so I guess it really pays for itself in the big scheme of things. It can take quite awhile to initially set up, and needs extra fine tuning and constant reminding (read: begging...)
It's not quiet, particularly when sleeping, it makes this grinding clunk noise, occasionally some sucking sounds. When intoxicate it runs like a bag of ****e, in which case you would probably want to keep it as far away from the kitchen as possible... Overall tho, it does what I need it to do, and gets the job done.
But seriously...
We have a dishlex. i bought it as I had a friend who used to own a white goods repair shop and she highly recommended that brand to us. it is just a basic model. It can be loud but it mostly depends how you stack it... if you stack it so they propeller things are hitting something then you're asking for trouble, otherwise it's OK. You can still hear it but only if you listen, kwim? I think it was around $500-$600.
Mum has a miele and it's super quiet, can barely hear it going.
We have a Bosch one it is quiet and I love it!!! Has a drawer thing at top for cuttlery so no silly basket in bottom taking up space!!!!!
I think was about $1200
PacRack: thanks for the "unrecommendation"!!
Helle:I had to read that out to DH and he was like "Huh?" for a minute...
My mum recommended a Dishlex too.. might look at them, that price sounds reasonable too!
Feeb: I love the cutlery drawer thingy! My MIL has one like that - I wonder if its a Bosch? Nah surely more than Bosch would do that... Though 1200 might be a bit out of our price range...
check with nelle too, she not long ago did similar research!!
OP, it was sort of a roundabout way of saying my dishwasher sucks!
ETA - Pandora, yeah, forgot about the waking-a-sleeping-baby beep at the end!
oh mine doesn't beep! which actually annoys me because I like to open the door as soon as it's finished so when the steam comes out the dishes dry and don't get that locked away in an old cupboard stale smell to them... (Dishlex, that is. Husband 0.1 Model gives me a running commentary so I always know when he's done)
(I actually do really love my husband, i swear XDD)
We used to have a Fisher&Paykel two drawer dishwasher and it was wonderful to begin with! But then we had it in stoarage for 2 years because our rental already had the same dishwasher and when we moved and installed ours it just wasn't the same. But then again, that's what happens when you ignore machinery for 2 years!
I truly loved it, but got really ticked when the touch panel on the inside of the drawer (that does all the cycle serttings etc) would just not work, or you would press one button and it would activate a completely different function.
We're in the market for another (since we offloaded the craptacular one to the landlords of our old place) and we're thinking just a singe door dishwasher. I'm loving the look of the new Bosch range with the water saving system (they call is Aquasensor technology) and the cutlery drawer option that makes me feel faint with joy (yes, I am tragic - but I am in serious dishwasher withdrawal)
They're probably quite exxy, but they look fabulous![]()
Just replying because I am looking at what to buy as well. We currently have a F&P, which i don't like (probably has something to do with it being broken all the time)
I keep looking at the new Bosch ones that are suppose to be the most water efficient on the market? (10.3L per wash) Googled very quickly yesterday and found we are looking at around $1500+..Dh reckons he doesn't care how much water it saves![]()
I did come across a website that had prices that looked like they were lower than RRP...Google for Pricebeaters and see what price they have on there. best thing was for freight it was $60 to any state outside NSW!! Well, at least for the one i was looking at.
I did find a dishlex that uses 11.9L of water per cycle, for about half the price....
We just bought a stainless steel Dishlex a few weeks ago for $600, forked out the extra cash for the one with the 4 star water rating (the cheaper ones are only 2 star). It's super quiet and so far so good.
Well spoke with my lovely parents who offered to buy it for us (what's the heartbeat icon??) and our budget is around $700. So the fantabulous Bosch with the cutlery drawer is out of our reach for now!
So we ended up looking at Dishlex - found one with bells and whistles (hopefully not LOUD, annoying bells and whistles!!) and started getting prices... RRP 1100, shops like Good Guys had it for around 900, rand Clive Peeters - the woman said she'd do it for me for 700 if I put a deposit down on the phone!
So we did... But it's on order, boo. So tomorrow we're going to check it out in person and see if anywhere else can match the price and if they have it in stock. (The Clive Peeters woman said we could get a refund on the deposit if we change our minds...)
So excited!!! Hopefully we'll have it soon and boy will it help! Wooo!
PS - did I mention I love my parents??!
We have a Dishlex - energy rating is only 2.5 stars - water is 4 stars. It is very quiet & I love that about it. The shortest cycle is 30 mins but a regular cycle is like 90 - ridiculous! It doesn't fit in really large plates well though - I really have to fiddle around with the dishes to maximise the space.
We had miele dishwashers at my old work and they were awesome, but the price tag is pretty awesome too.
If I had an unlimited budget I'd go miele, asko or Bosch.
Unfortunately few do, I think the dishlex sounds good and they have been around for a long time. I remember the dishhhhhhhhhhh-lex ads from when i was a kid.
I have a Bosch. It's awesome.
we have an asko, it was already here but its been good, it must be getting on in age, we've only had it repaired once so thats great
we have a miele, and TBH im not that happy with it. It does a great job sometimes but often will still have food on some of the items. What I do love is that we have a cultry draw rather than a basket!
also you would never see our dishwasher as it is fully intergrated! Love the look!
