Question Negative comments on aspects of your appearance.

In the last year or so, a few people, not many and not often, comment on my legs. I have varicose veins and spider veins. They were very prominent during my last pregnancy and are much better now but they are still very obvious. I personally, at this point in my life, couldn’t care less. I am happy and confident about my appearance and I make absolutely no attempt to hide or disguise my legs, I would NEVER decide what to wear based on how my legs look, i.e. I would never wear pants if I really wanted to wear shorts. And to me, they’re really not *that* bad. Lots of people all over the place in my family have legs way, way, way worse than me. When I’ve finished breastfeeding I will get them “done”, if I feel like it, I’ll see.

I am always surprised when people comment. Initially I think they are just rude, but actually I think some people have never seen legs like mine and are genuinely curious. I do think though that if I was not so self assured that it would really worry me and I guess I’m just wondering does anyone else get comments like this, and does it worry you? Is it rude? I don’t think I would ever comment or ask someone about something like that.

My standard comeback line now is, “Hey, you think my legs are bad, you should see my vulva!” That usually shuts them up pretty quick.

“Hey, you think my legs are bad, you should see my vulva!”
I almost soaked my computer screen in water then ><; Nice come back!

I have what Dr's and my mum *think* is a tear duct on the outside of my eye (it never cries tho?) It basically looks like a little tiny hole. I'm not entirely sure how people even notice it without getting right up in my face but I'm occassionally asked about it. It doesn't worry me, really. Not much I can do about it!
I also have alot of fuzz on my face it's blonde/white baby hair type stuff.... beauticians often ask if it makes using powders hard (apparently it can make it show up more?) never noticed it either, and I refuse to wax it because you can bet your bottom dollar it will go from fine baby type hair to a full blown man beard.

I bet that would shut them up!!!

I've never really had that problem but I would definitely think it was rude if someone pointed something about my appearance out like that and it would play on my mind for sure!

I'm not one to be oozing confidence so people mentioning things like that would definitely have an impact on me.

I have funny thumbs...whist I have gotten used to them over the last 30 years I still get asked what happened to your thumbs my standard comeback now is "I had surgery so they looked like this to have a good conversation starter"

I had my left big toenail removed when I was a child and for years I used to refuse to wear sandals or to wear a fake toenail. Now I quite enjoy freaking people out with my toe, and it's excellent for scaring children into never picking their toenails

I have a 5 large moles that start on my decolletage (love that word!) and disappear down my top ITMS.

When i was an impressionable 16 year old i was getting a dress made for a ball and the dressmaker told me she needed to alter the neckline to hide 'those things'. That was the first time i'd really noticed them. I was horrified and told mum. Thankfully she must have done the right amount of reassuring and i couldn't care less ever since. I've since had other comments but that's just ignorance I think. Both my boys tried to pull them off whilst bfing and when my neice first met me called them rahries (her word for raisins!).

I'd get them removed if they were going to have melanoma implications. I'm sure you'd do your legs too Epacris, if they hurt or were uncomfortable. But somepeople should have their tongues surgically removed to stop them saying dumb stuff.

Luckily all my "ugly" features are on the bits of my body that are usually covered anyway

Though when I was about 19, my mum pointed out my (TMI) pubes were poking out the bottom of my swimsuit, and I haven't worn bathers without shorts ever since

I have a big dark pigmentation patch on the side of my cheek which I normally cover with concealer etc. Often hairdressers try to rub it off thinking that it is a big blotch of hair dye - I let them do that for a while and then tell them it's not going to come off I hate it and it's ugly but I can't afford to get anything done about it at the moment.

Those people are rude to comment on your appearance, unless it's to pay you a compliment. My BIL asked my sister (his wife) after I gave birth if my tummy would stay 'like that'. I think he was referring to the cs overhang look. She laughed., and said it'd get better, but then in my defense, said her belly is.like that and she hasn't had any babies yet, lol. Gotta love my sister. It was an innocent question though. But if I were less self assured., it might've bothered me.

    Love the comeback!

In regards to comments I cop, I do cop it.. From strangers and people I know (and lately it's every 2nd bloody person who wants to comment) bout the blackness under my eyes.
Yes, they're black. But you try being almost 30wks pregnant, caring for a 2yr old during the day (who's favorite past-times ATM are screeching at the top of his voice and waking up at between 5 + 6am) and working at night and never usually finishing until at least 12:30am, in turn only getting bout 4 hours of sleep every night (and DS has now dropped his afternoon sleeps from 3 hours where I could do an hour of housework and sleep for about an hour and a half before DH comes home from work, to an hour and a half at most!)

Sorry, guess I needed to get it out. It's only starting to get to me now I guess, because I'm copping it from almost every single person I come across

Yeah my family likes to point out that my stomach sticks out and make fun of me. The thing is, I'm not fat though, and the ones who say it are. I think they're just trying to make themselves feel better. No, I don't have a flat stomach, that's just the shape of me and the way I've always been. But seriously sometimes I just want to turn around and say 'F OFF!' LOL, don't think it would go down too well.

My Aunty also commented 'your boobs are getting saggy now after feeding two kids'. Umm...thanks. Anyway, they haven't changed much but whatever.

    My dad chopped two of his fingers off in a saw mill and likes scaring kids out of picking their noses with them ><;
