    Hi Girls!

Trill: hanging totally low baby hahaha. i seriously think i need a sling just to hold the belly up hahaha.

I can so believe that they left the fibroid diagnosis off the letter...DD1s birth record and SCN record also mysteriously 'went missing' when i asked for them

Well you proved me wrong anyway - you've made it past 37 weeks LOL. But I'm more than happy to be proven wrong on this one I meant to ask you the other day if you've got a name for this wee girl sorted yet? I found it so hard each time to think of a new name.

Yeah, I'm really quite angry about that. I'm even more convinced now that he's just a fraudulent mo'fo who wants to make money. It's not like it would be hard where he is - he's one of only 3 ob/gyns that service an area of close to 100,000 people, so it's not like he needs the patients.

    Rage justified, Trill.

I've totally forgotten what happened in the last thread so I'll have to go looking before I make any intelligible answers.

It's a bit suspect when the key documents go missing Cass. When I requested mine from DD1's birth they pulled em out no problems. Sadly I think it reflects that my experience was SOP.

AFM - sleep study deferred due to DH being called away at the crucial moment. Massively bummed to be waiting another fortnight when relief is so close i can actually smell it. Also my lovely boss who has been acting in her position for nearly 2 years didn't get the job. Devo'd. They're bringing in some numpty from outside the organisation. I am *not* ready to embrace change.

Ah well. The sun is still shining. At least I have pink chocolate to console myself while I squeeze a very large and chunky essay out this weekend.

oh how crushing for your boss MD!! that is a really big blow for her no doubt...and her self esteem, the poor chicky

How long is DH away for? Hopefully nothing too long or serious xx

Trill: talk about him having a captive audience *shudder*

Oh, and now i reckon the little turd (AKA my gorgeous third baby girl lol) will now want to have the challenge of threatening me/her with an eviction notice come 42 weeks

MD, the mental image of you pulling a large and chunky out of your rear was lovely! Thanks lol Bummer about your boss. Perhaps the new person will be really cool and you will find a new friend? Sucks about the sleep clinic I can understand how much you must be looking forward to it, just the hope of some decent sleep in the near future is enough to keep marching on with

Cass, if you can remember the aha! moment for your childhood avoidance I would love to hear it!
Doesn't overly surprise me that your notes were 'missing'. A cousin of mine had twins and went into pre-term labour with them. She was in hospital being monitored overnight when a new Dr came on shift, took one look at the baby heart traces and said 'this baby has been in fetal distress for 24 hours' so she was whipped off for a c-section. Her son was severely brain damaged and when she asked for the notes and traces they had disappeared, along with any chance of compensation for her son.

Trill, that is so wrong about your Dr. Does he make money out of the surgeries?

Like everything W does, it is a normal thing taken to the extreme. Like today, he came to me in tears because he remembered something that was used up a month ago (glow stick when he went camping). I guess it is an anxiety thing, everything is. As soon as we make progress on one behaviour another springs up to take its place.

I went to the optometrist the other day to get an eye check so I could get some replacement glasses after E broke mine the other day. I have had these for 8 years! I hate picking frames. Of course the only ones I liked were in a colour I didn't like so they have to order in the colour I want and I have to wait another 2-3 weeks I guess I will keep taping these ones up until then.
I got the optometrist to tell me what colour W's eyes are because they are quite unusual and we weren't sure. He said they are almost perfect green, with hardly any other pigment which is apparently quite rare. I hope E's eyes change to the same colour.

My pleasure, Arte. Just value-adding as always lol.

Bummer about having to wait for your new glasses. Hopefully they have overestimated the time and they will come in sooner. You make gorgeous children my dear.

Cass, he is home again now, it was just bad timing for a few days.

Hi ladies, it's me again. As you can probably tell I'm procrastinating my tiny heart out. Which is insane because the essay requires a large amount of statistical input and I'm probably the only student in the course who actually knows my way around the ABS website - BA HA HA - so I should be enjoying the advantage.

I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend. The sun is shining and the birds are tweeting and DH brought home one of those Aldi coffee pod machines from his trip this week, so by all accounts I should be rocketing along. Maybe I need to go and sit in the sun and drink coffee. That will help this essay get written, won't it?!

Cass, let us know once you start getting twitchy with that eviction notice, won't you.

PS. Arte, I remember you saying somewhere you might have a family member moving to Qld soon? Am beginning to plan attendance at a conference in Brisvegas in Feb next year, so if you were thinking of visiting, that would be a good time to do it!!!

ooohhh MD i am jealous that you will be heading over to my old stomping ground of brisvegas! It has been high in my thoughts lately what with crapulent weather here in Melbourne...i just want days of sunshine, like maybe 3 in a row

It's because you are all over it like a rash that you dont feel/have the need to be overly motivated...i found those assignments the hardest to conquer in many ways ITMS.

Arte: bummer about having to wait for the new pair to arrive. I expect some photos! Still havent booked Miss L in for her eye check....bad parenting alert. Must.do.it.next.week.must.do.it.next....

AFM: the snot monster that has taken up residence in my nose is quite stubborn. But i now have control over one nostril (the small things float my )...if i go into labour now, what with the calmbreathing exercises i will sound like darth vader, no doubt about it.

You've got that right, Cass. All over it. The whole subject is one of those where the entire content just seems so blatantly obvious, and largely a repetition of a whole lot of concepts from other subjects (albeit drawn together under a different framework) that I don't really understand how the hickkie the damn thing got up as a third year subject??! Most painful.

Cass, that's a strong complaint about a few days of darkness after your year of perpetual summer!! LOL. Bad comedown. BTW, I'm planning that this will be my very last winter of doldrums. I've just discovered a brand new invention (literally just released onto the market in the last week), done by some sleep doctors here at Flinders Uni. Basically, they've taken the "light box" concept and turned them into these wearable spectacle things. Because they've got LEDs in a scientifically-selected colour very close to your eyes, it gets the same effect as a massive light box at arm's length. Sa-weet. You can read with your normal glasses on move around like a normal person, 50 mins a day gives a therapeutic effect. I know it soooo sounds like a dodgey brothers invention, but I actually came across the original research (from a couple of years ago) and I know they are getting good results from it. They are called Re-timers and I predict it will take approx 18 months for word to get out into the scandinavian countries, and then they'll be selling like hotcakes in no time.

Those glasses sound promising MD. I assume the light is centered on the nose side of the eyeball? Also amber glasses should be worn after 4pm to reduce artificial lighting that may be throwing out the body clock.

Cass, I asked about kid eye exams and he said not to stress until 8ish because most kids will get problems around either 8ish or 12ish. Or if they complain they can't see something.

MD, yes, my father is moving to Brisbane, only about 20 minutes from where we used to live I asked DH if we could go over in Feb and he just stared at me like I had sprouted another head lol. After our three week caravan trip in Jan I don't think we will be going far for a while. But I would love to go... thinking of trying the 'but it is our 7th anniversary and we still haven't been on a honeymoon' line...

Yes, it's a soft green light near your nose, shining upwards so your eyelids etc don't get in the way. I've heard that about the amber glasses but don't really know how to go about sourcing some good ones since you'd have no way of knowing what filtering value they actually had, kwim? But I did read the other day about some software you can load that adjusts your screen brightness to a more natural lighting setting. Will be checking that out.

Yay for planting an I-need-a-holiday-in-Australia seed!! Maybe after 3 weeks in a caravan with them you'll be ready to leave your family and run away by yourself for a week. LOL. Ah we can but dream...

MD, I am eyeing up DH's finland frequent flyer points - enough to get me to Aust, but not enough to drag everyone else along for the ride lol.
With the glasses, I am not sure quality matters. After BIL had a meeting with the sleep Dr, he got some petrol station ones on the way home - I would have thought they needed to be good quality ones, but either it doesn't matter, was not specifically mentioned or BIL just didn't get it.

I just recently found out about the photoreceptor cells that set the circadian rhythm. Pretty much the summary of a whole chapter lol. Two weeks out from my exam and I was going over some notes yesterday and noticed some answers to questions and suddenly realised that I have a workbook for the text that I seem to have totally forgotten about around 9 chapters ago! Suddenly a whole lot easier to study - multichoice is my favourite format! Now to find some time and some brainpower...

...you know what's really spooky...is that I have heard of those glasses MD but it must of been early days as i reckon it was about a year(ish) ago...before LA anyway. i didnt take much notice, but something did register long enough...might need to check 'em out lol.

Arte: i have a feeling that she does need a test for her eyes. she has a slight turn in her left eye and occasionally i have noticed that when she is trying to read that her eyes can water. Considering my crap eyesight it wouldnt surprise me really.

Cass, good idea to get her checked then. So far W has amazing vision - he can read the 1cm big compass and temp by the rear view mirror from the third row in the car. "mum, we are going west, now we have turned south... etc', just 'cos he doesn't have enough to talk about.
I am picking at least one of them are going to end up with glasses though.

Good thing you remembered that workbook Arte! Sleep deprivation makes you forget lots of things. If the sleep delay thing comes up I will quiz the sleep doctor about the amber glasses and find out the real deal.

Cass, that's not spooky, just proof that good ideas are "sticky". LOL. There's an article about them in the latest edition of the Australian Geographic magazine, a copy of which freakishly turned up out of the blue near my desk at work (that was a bit spooky, because it was on the same day that an email came out about sleep awareness week and happened to be a day when I was really, really struggling). They are not cheap, though . Can't imagine the health fund would pay up against them either. Maybe we could pool our funds and buy a single pair and then just post it back and forth, a week about, from vic to sa. Take it in turns to be sane, a week at a time, all through winter .

In NSW they eye check all 4 year olds. I think it's to make sure any issues are picked up before they start school. I got a call the other day because K missed her test at preschool, but we'd taken her to an optometrist anyway.

MD - There was an article in the Canberra Times today about how a lot of sleep issues are related to how we breathe. Apparently we are all breathing too shallow and too much through our mouths. Retraining our breathing patterns apparently has had huge success. (Google Breatheability)

Arte - It's totally fair for you to have a little holiday (kid/husband free) after DH has had his few trips. And Australia would be perfect.

DH is away for a few nights this week. Looking forward to a few nights sleep in a bed to myself without ear plugs. Got plans for pork (he doesn't like) dinners.

Cally, they do 4 year old hearing and vision tests here too - it is a good idea. Hope all is going well with your DH away. DH is going to get himself smothered in his sleep the way he is going!

MD, maybe the health fund would pay for them if they are prescribed by a sleep doctor? Is health fund the same as private health insurance? If you do have narcolepsy, do they still prescribe Ritalin?

DH is taking the big kids camping again over the weekend. Thankfully. W has been really full on lately and I need a break from him! He has no interest topic atm and a bored W = PITA!
