Just popping in to say hello. Can't stop as Erykah is being a real grumble bum today. I can't seem to settle her. Just been for a 50 min walk and she woke as soon as we got home. Best go see to her
Jo - Thay are good at waking up as soon as you get home.
Alex slept for 5½ hours last night which was great. We have put a fleece blanket under his head to keep him warm so maybe that helped him sleep better.
Shannon - How did today go? I thought of you and little Jessalyn at 1pm today and thought hopefully by now she`s got a lovely full tummy, poor little thing must have been so hungry afterwards.
Lesley - that the lactose formula helps Chloe.
Michelle - Yay at the great sleep.
Jo - matthew does the same ALWAYS wakes up when we get home.
Bel - Nice to see you here. How are you feeling after the c/s? I`m like you I`d like to get involved in a Mother`s Group but there doesn`t seem to be one in our area, you might be luckier being in Newcastle area.
Hello to everyone else, now we`re onto a new thread I can`t remember what was on the last thread.
Matthew had another good night slept from 9pm to 5am, he did wake up at 10.30pm making lots of little noises, sucking his thumb and kicking his blankets off I thought I`d have to get him up but he went to sleep. I had a restless night myself, not sure why just one of those nights I guess.
Matthew has got another new trick as well as kicking off all his blankets and is so cold by the time he wakes up he is now crawling backwards up his cradle, he obviously gets his feet into the mattress and pushes, hence he moves up.
I better go and get him up, this always seems to happen when I`m on BB, he must know.
Hi girls, we had a hearing test this morning for Coby, he didn't get his in the hospital because they were a bit slack and didnt' get it done, so we went this morning. His hearing is fine thankfully, its just another one of the miriad of things that you worry about as a new mum.
I also went into my work today to "show him off" and all the girls were clucking over him, it was very funny to watch. My boss asked me (jokingly) if I was ready to come back to work yet, I think they are having a few problems with the girls in the office now. Oh well, they'll sort it out!!
We had a bit of a drama here last night, Coby choked on some vomit. It was sooo scary, he also did it on Friday night last week, and it scared the life out of me then too, I ended up taking him up to the casualty last night just to get him checked out, but he was fine. He just panics and then I panic, its horrible. Have any of your babies choked on their vomit? I asked the Dr about sleeping Coby on his side and he said that would be ok, but Im still worried that he will vomit in his sleep and choke on it again, its an awful fear!!!
Dee, Im feeling fine after the c/s, it was so easy I would do it again in a heartbeat. I had very little pain, and only took panadine forte for the pain instead of the pethadine or morphine. I just wasn't real keen on the narcotics....
After Coby's bad experience last night, he must have worn himself out and he slept heaps too, about 6 hours - a record for him, but I didnt' sleep, every little noise he made I was worried about him....Welcome to being a mother I guess......
Bel - Funny you should mention about not having pethidene or morphine I was talking with Mark this morning saying if I need another c/s I`m not having the pethidene as it did nothing for the pain and just made be feel totally out of it, I`ll go Panadene Forte as like you they worked well. Yes Matthew has choked on his vomit plus milk (when he`s feeding) a number of times, he first did it in hospital, it gave me such a fright, now I just stay calm and try to calm Matthew down.
We`re having a wonderful day here today with vomit, do others find that some days your babies only vomit a little and other days they just keep vomiting all day.
Dee - Gabby's not much of a chucker but she does have days where she seems to do so after each feed. She doesn't seem to phased by it - just that it's odd to see her spew a great deal.
chloe ahs been vomiting alot latley, maybe because of the whole lactose thing not sure..
she used to choke on her vomit alot and id panic when shed go blue in the face, but ive learnt to stay clam when d\she does it now and just sit her upright and pat ehr back, always seems to help..
A quick question while Missy is asleep. Anyone know how long the growth spurts are supposed to last??
I think Erykah is having hers and she is feeding what feels like constantly. I have managed to get her to sleep finally at 2 this afternoon and am letting her sleep till her bath time at 6 (unless she wakes before then) she must have been shattered since 5:30am she had slept for 2 hrs 50 mins broken sleep.
I hope she sleeps better tonight. I have managed to get 2 hours sleep this afternoon too which has helped me no end but I have managed to do nothing. If I hadn't bought lunch while we were out on our walk I would not have managed to get any as the only way I got to have a coffee earlier was to leave her to cry in her bassinet for 5 mins.
The crying always seems to get to me more when I am tired. If I am refreshed I feel I can handle anything.
I could do with her sleeping for longer stints through the night. I am getting her waking every 2 hours. I could cope with 3 hours but if she got back to 4 hours like she used to be it would feel like heaven.
Shannon thought of you this afternoon and hope all went well and Jessalyn did not get too stressed being hungry
Michelle - Thanks I wonder if it would be as hard if I was in the UK with family to help out. But you know what I think it would. DH helps me settle her at night if I struggle but if she wants feeding then I do it as I am BF.
I am expressing some milk and plan to get a good supply frozen over the next few weeks so that I can get a way for a few hours if I need to.
The housework has gone to pot. I manage to do the washing and ironing and keep the kitchen clean (not hard since I hardly cook best thing I did was filling the freezer with food though it is running out now).
It seems whenever I really need to get my head down Erykah knows this and she won't settle. Bless her like a baby could be that calculated! I do love being a mum though.
I think I got a smile off her yesterday. Made me melt.
Jo - I think it would have still been hard if you still lived in the UK unless you had family living close to you that would help out.
I miss not having anyone to give the kids too when i am having a bad day and latley i have been having lots of them.
Don't worry about the housework mine is never 100% done once you have kids your house is never the same.
If you ever want to chat just email and i will give you my number.
Belinda - you poor thing! I can imagine how frightening that must have been...hope that your little boy is feeling better now. Finlay has a cold at the moment and it is soooo sad to watch him snuffle and grunt and not be able to do something!
Dee - that is FANTASTIC about Matthew's sleep! Wow - it does give me hope that things will get better.....I would kill for 5 hours sleep in a row!
I hated the morphine after the c/s that was in the drip. I was really swollen for nearly 48 hours and it was horrible! Next time I will be asking for something else (I thought pethadine - but the thought of being 'out of it' doesn't thrill me!!)
I'm like you Belinda - I will have another c/section...
Well my little man is 5060grams!!! I think that he is enormous! (cute - but BIG!) How is everyone elses bubbies doing weight wise? I have put some more pics on my wesbite too..
Finlay has has a slight flat head on his left side...we are now in the process of retraining that!
Other then that - all is well....motherhood gets better every day! I hope that you are all enjoying life as well...just a little more sleep and life would be perfect!
I had some black and white photos taken of us last week and looked at them today and they are beautiful! I can't wait to pick them up next week.
Hi Megan, yes, another c section would be fine by me!! Yes its awful watching them suffer and there's nothing you can do about it. It was like that when Coby was in the NICU, and had all the tubes shoved up his nose, I felt so helpless even though I could see he was extremely uncomfortable.
Im not sure what Coby weighs now, we go to the clinic tomorrow and get weighed/measured again, so I will know more then. I am sure Coby is growing heaps though, he seems to be getting bigger to me!!
Hi Shannon, I must have missed the other posts, but why did your DD have to fast today? Obviously for a blood test, but what's going on with her? Sorry if that sounds like Im prying.... Hope she's ok....
Jo - I have no idea about growth spurts, all I know is that they have one at around 6 weeks or something... Other than that, Im no help to you....
Yes, Coby is a chucker, he loves a good vomit!! It doesn't seem to worry him, its only when he has wind with his vomit that he gets upset. But this choking business has got to stop, I think he is just a little panicker!! Im so worried now that I am checking on the poor little man every couple of minutes, aarrgghh the joys of being a mother (worrying constantly!!)
Hope you are all enjoying your new found motherhood as much as I am, even though I am worried, I wouldn't change it for the world. I just adore my little man so much!!
I have posted some current photos on our website if anyone is interested.
Belinda - your photos are great! Coby is beautiful...We have that little blue suit for Finlay as well (my little tracter) - although he has grown out of it now!! LOL!
Just quickly popping in before I try and settle Erykah back to sleep. We had a much better night with her feeding 3 hourly. So feel like a different person again today. Amazing the power of sleep hey!
Shannon Glad to hear that Jesslyn didn't suffer from being starved.
